  Help with Music Pluin
Posted by: mcgilligan - 2010-04-29, 03:14 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

I have installed the Music plugin. When I select music on my mvp it causes the mvp to reboot. In the instructions it refers to a file called Musicscanner.exe and it says it will be auto-started by the plugin. I do not see this file. I do see a file called mediascanner.exe. It does not auto-start either. If I manually execute the mediascanner.exe it does show in the tray but the mvp still reboots when accessing the music plugin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can We Put GBPVR.DB3 on a Drive Other Than C:?
Posted by: LewE - 2010-04-29, 12:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I know we can configure GBPVR to put recordings wherever we want. I would like to be able to also put the GBPVR.db3 database on another drive. On the C: drive, it tends to get quite fragmented.

I have configured a small drive for data that gets very fragmented each day (e.g. the files associated with Thunderbird) and do a full defrag on that drive each night. I would like to put the GBPVR data base where it can easily be defragmented too.

Even if I do a complete defrag on C: nightly, the files there are of a nature where they cause many holes in the disk map and other files get very fragmented very quickly.

Since I'm pretty sure that the answer to my question is NO, would you add this to the Wish List?

  VMR9 issue
Posted by: Fokke Nauta - 2010-04-29, 10:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Hi all,

The problem: When I try to start PVRX2 I get the message "System doesn't support VMR9 Video Render". I checked your FAQ to no avail and googled for VMR 9 without a useful result.

Windows XP Pro SP3
GB-PVR 1.4.7 (with vcredist_x86.exe)
GeForce 8400 GS
Direct X: I installed 9.0c but see in a technical survey version no. 4.10.0.5515

The only issue is that I use this PC by RDP, limiting the colour depth to 16 bits.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards,
Fokke Nauta

  Recordings are failing.
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2010-04-29, 05:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

I had a bunch of recordings scheduled between 7-10pm this Wednesday night but for some reason most of them failed. The computer went into hibernation even though the recordings were scheduled.

  Season Recording Problem!!
Posted by: Ijaja - 2010-04-28, 09:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

If i add a season recording, for example a weekly recording. Then the Manage Recording Tab displays it as Reoccuring Item in the webinterface. When i create this item automatically few according pending items are created immediately (how many??). So far so good. These records are performed. But then..... When next according pending items are created? Sometimes it works, sometimes not. In last times no further recording items have been created in general!!! And thus no record is performed!!! Records are only performed for the pending items obviously.
Sometimes in very raw cases it works. Surprisingly then there occured o pending item for the recording. I did never catch when and why...!! What is the problem?? Am i expecting too much? What do i have to do? Can it be right, that i have to care about such items? I specify a reoccuring recording and i works just sporadic???? Does the computer have to be switched on at specific times? It is really despairing!

Please help!!

  Sky TV - New Zealand
Posted by: griffy - 2010-04-28, 04:17 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm wondering if anyone has setup GB-PVR with a Sky TV Card (Via the Jaycar reader) and DVB-S tuner.

If you have, can you tell me or point to a thread using GB-PVR to do this. I do not have Sky but am thinking of maybe getting it and using my HTPC like a MySky box.
Also does the picture improve using EVR with nVidia/ATI de-interlacing ? I've seen how average Sky Sport via SD feed is
Obviously recording via the DVB-S stream would be encrypted on the Hard-drive so do these files play back via GB-PVR and decode on the fly?

Thanks
Griffy

  Cancel All Scheduled Recordings
Posted by: LewE - 2010-04-28, 04:01 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

I am switching from analog cable to Verizon FIOS. Since all the channels will change I am cancelling all the pending scheduled recordings (one-shots and recurring). Going through the list I find that there are a lot of obsolete recording requests. Some are for programs that are no longer in production. Others are due to programs that have changed which day they appear.

It seems to me that a part of regular data base housekeeping (not just when your channel lineups are about to change), it is probably a good idea to clear out the list of scheduled recordings and re-enter new recording schedules. This would get rid of a bunch of entries that are just dead wood and never will cause a program to be recorded.

Having a way to clear out the pending recordings with a single entry would make this a lot easier.

  Storage graph reads 0.0Gb
Posted by: ottoguy - 2010-04-28, 03:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Any idea why the pie graph always reads 0.0Gb? It hasn't worked right since I re-installed windows and gbpvr a year or more ago.

Could be caused by something I removed from windows during the install process. I used Nlite to strip windows down, and think I missed something to do with USB since no usb storage device works. Wink

  EWA problem
Posted by: drbenjamin - 2010-04-28, 02:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I've recently added a HD-PVR to my system, and have observed the following issue. When I go to a show in either Episode Search or TV Guide and attempt to set up a recurring recording (e.g. any time slot - any day, or this time slot - any day) I get a red Recording Failed message. However, on the same show if I select once - this day the recording is scheduled. I'm attaching logs, this happened today at around 19:07. I suppose there could be some conflicts, but at least one show could be recorded so I"m surprised that when I try to set up a recurring record the whole thing fails.

Thanks for any help!

  mainboard options, budget-ish, su
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2010-04-28, 12:18 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Newegg used to have a great mainboard browser, put in your processor, features you wanted from a checklist, up came a list of mainboards that fit.

That feature of the site is gone.

I'm looking for a mainboard with surround out, SATA plus some IDE, doesn't have to be fancy. Needs to drive the Haupauge 1600.

If someone has bought something recently that they are proud of the deal I'm open to replies : )

Thanks!
