  Zap2xml Tv listing issue.
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2010-04-27, 08:47 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

One of my wife's soap operas (Corazon Salvaje) got bumped from its 9pm slot to 12am due to low ratings. My issue now is that the guide is still showing it at the 9pm slot.

I use zap2xml to download my guide data. The weird thing is that at their website the new time slot is displaying correctly. [Image: t6bdkl.jpg]

The show is listed at 12am! So I deleted xmltv.xml, deleted the cache folder and updated my EPG once again but the show is still listed at 9pm. So i'm out of ideas:confused:

Recordings Wont Always Play - Need to Try Three times
Posted by: ralphy - 2010-04-27, 09:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

This problem has been a bit of a nuisance. Sometimes it takes three (and always three) attempts to play a recording.

On the first attempt, we get a blank screen
On the second attempt, the OSD displays with the show details
On the third attempt, the recording plays.

When a recording has this problem, it usually will not disappear from the recordings list when deleted until PVR is exited (but the file has in fact been deleted).

Code:
2010-04-13 20:39:07.796 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(F:\Recordings\Chuck (S2)\Chuck (S2)_20100412_05000600.mpg) 2010-04-13 20:39:07.796 VERBOSE File already in use - probably still recording 2010-04-13 20:39:07.796 VERBOSE waited: 0 (0 - 1271162347) filesize: 0 2010-04-13 20:39:07.796 VERBOSE Sleeping for 500ms to give file a chance to grow 2010-04-13 20:39:08.296 VERBOSE Creating new graph 2010-04-13 20:39:08.296 VERBOSE getSetting(PreferredAudioRenderer) 2010-04-13 20:39:08.296 VERBOSE getSetting(TvShape) 2010-04-13 20:39:08.296 VERBOSE 16:9 television ....... 2010-04-13 20:39:12.671 VERBOSE getSetting(VerticalZoom) 2010-04-13 20:39:12.671 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(F:\Recordings\Chuck (S2)\Chuck (S2)_20100412_05000600.mpg) 2010-04-13 20:39:12.671 VERBOSE File already in use - probably still recording 2010-04-13 20:39:12.671 VERBOSE waited: 0 (0 - 1271162352) filesize: 0 2010-04-13 20:39:12.671 VERBOSE Sleeping for 500ms to give file a chance to grow 2010-04-13 20:39:13.171 VERBOSE Creating new graph

I suspect the above error message is a clue. It appears twice in the PVX2.native.exe.log, but there should be no reason why the file is in use and changing size. As you can see from the file name and time stamps, the recording was nearly 24 hours old.

Is the database corrupt? If so, how can it be rebuilt without losing details of the existing recordings library?

  New Spotify Client out now!!
Posted by: 7ore - 2010-04-27, 08:55 AM - Forum: Music Spot - Replies (3)

The new Spotify client that just have been released have a couple of really nice features.
First, you can import all your local music files to it's library and play them from Spotify. (Wich means that I can uninstall winamp from my computer at work... Big Grin )
Second, it has a facebook link so you can share and see what your friends listens to. If this is a good feature can be debated. Smile

If the API is updated reflecting this change the MusicSpot can be made even more useful! Cool

PowerColor HD3650 video card - LOUD!
Posted by: mattyb - 2010-04-27, 12:15 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (10)

I've recently installed a Powercolor HD3650 video card (my old nVidia 7600GS died) and the fan is really loud - far and away the loudest fan in the box. The nVidia was passively cooled so was perfect.

I've tried numerous methods to slow the fan down in software using Rivatuner, Speedfan etc, but nothing has been successful.

On the other hand, the picture quality of the HD3650 is superb, and worked without any significant adjustments to the default settings - basically plug and play.

My setup is SD only, I feed a CRT tv from the TV-out on the video card. So I need an analog output, hence the HD3650 (AGP, TV-out both required).

Does anyone know of other options that I might consider?

The video card needs to be:

-AGP
-Analog out (via S-video TV-out or otherwise)
-Silent!! (or with a very quiet fan)
-Suitable for use with GB-PVR

I can't seem to find anything - so all options will be considered!

Thanks in advance.

  Question about Recording Formats
Posted by: LewE - 2010-04-26, 12:49 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - No Replies

I have started a thread in the SUPPORT forum
http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...ng-Formats that asks how to mix analog recordings with those made from ClearQAM for playback via MediaMVP to SD sets and Popcornhour A100 to an HD set, retaining the HD format on the HD television.

I posted it there because I thought it was a general configuration issue rather than one specific to MediaMVPs and NMTs.

Rather than start two simultaneous discussions, I am posting a message here asking help from users in this forum but not for them to respond here.

I think for the time being it would be best to keep responses in the thread in the SUPPORT forum. Once a solution to the issue has been found then the thread could be moved to the most appropriate forum.

  Question About Recording Formats
Posted by: LewE - 2010-04-26, 06:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I am about to switch from Analog Cable Service to Verizon FIOS. I will end up using my capture cards to record the local shows on FIOS via Clear QAM.

I will use a Verizon DVR to record the cable channels that are not the local broadcast stations. These recordings will be completely independent from GBPVR.

I still have one analog capture tuner that I may eventually use to record from an SD set top box that will be near the PC. That will create mpg format files, if I understand correctly.

I have many existing programs in mpg format previously recorded by GBPVR.

Now, for the difficult part. I have one HD television set and will use a Popcornhour A100 to interface with that set. I will use MediaMVPs to interface with two other Standard Definition sets.

I want to be able to view programs recorded from Clear QAM on both the HD set and the SD sets. As far as I understand, the Popcornhour can play back the file format recorded from ClearQAM but the MediaMVPs need the files to be transcoded before they can play them back.

Is it possible to transcode the files in post recording processing (I currently have Comskip processing done at this point) and then have the Popcornhour use the original file format and the MediaMVPs use the converted format? If this is so, how do I configure GBPVR to do this?

Remove 'Exit' option from main menu
Posted by: Krydos - 2010-04-26, 04:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I'm using Windows XP Pro and GB-PVR v1.47, and the latest version of the community skin (4.05 or so). The system boots straight into GB-PVR and as much of windows as possible is hidden. In an effort to make the system more wife/family friendly I would like to remove the 'Exit' option from the Main Menu. If someone accidently selects it they basically just see a black screen and come screaming to me that the TV is broken.

The plugins tab shows the exit button and I can activate/deactivate/move it all around, but no matter what it always shows up at the bottom of the list. Every other button is movable and removable and responds to how I set it except for the exit option. I read somewhere about win7 getting some broken menu settings in \Users\<account>\Application Data\.. or so, but I can't find anything like that in XP's \Documents and Settings\ folder either.

  Minor Annoyance
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2010-04-25, 11:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

The first time I run GBPVR after rebooting, it just hangs & never starts. If I cancel it & restart it, it is fine & I won't have the problem until I boot again. It has been this way for a few releases, at least. When I cancel it, it creates 0 length log files. I realize that there is no point in posting them. I remember sub posting some entry you can make in the registry to get a log file created in C:\Temp, but I could not find the post when I searched for it. I was thinking that maybe I could turn that on & figure out what is happening. This is just a minor issue with an easy work around so I haven't mentioned it before. (Also, I'm the only one this affects - if my wife or child ran into it, I'd have to resolve it.)

So, basically, I just want to know what that registry entry is to get GBPVR to write a log to C:\Temp.

Thanks,
Elihu

mc2xml time is off by 7 hours
Posted by: GemPVR - 2010-04-25, 04:46 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi everyone, this is my first post since I cannot find an answer to my problem so I hope someone here can help me. I am using mc2xml for my EPG source but the time is off by 7 hours (I am in Central Time Zone). I have tried the -u switch from the command prompt but that didnt work, I tried using the offset in the GB-PVR configuration tool when importing my xml file and that has no effect no matter what number I use scroll to, I have tried to place the u- +0700 switch in the mc2xml.dat file and forced an update from the command prompt and that didnt work. The only way I can get the xml file imported correctly is by manually replacing all the +0000 in the xmltv.xml with +0700, does anyone know how to fix this problem, thanks.
