cannot map the digital channel in config
Posted by: avengine - 2010-05-01, 11:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I am using a new HVR-1800, and test the wintv7 can see all the analog and digital channels ok, when I start to config gbpvr, it did scan any digital channel in the mapping step. i do subscribe to scheduler direct trial, what might be wrong.
on the other hand, other than win 7 home media center, if i want to use xp pro, is this software most similar to roger's pvr (easy and simple to use and setup. I try mediaportal, the media play and TV live user interface is so so.

is wintv7 is a good solution, what is the limit on this build in software.
thanks.

  Mapping Channels To EPG
Posted by: skycyclepilot - 2010-05-01, 08:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

In setting up digital cable using the HVR2250, mapping the channels to match EPG channels is laborious. Is there a shortcut way of doing it???

  Standby/hibernate

Is there anything special that a plugin has to do to prevent a PC from going into a powersaving mode?
http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...post374502 I could understand on the PC because I am not using DirectShow, but to the NMT I use VLC to create a temp file that GBPVR plays like any audio file.

  Visual C++
Posted by: skycyclepilot - 2010-05-01, 04:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Is it necessary to install the Visual C++ (vcredist) from the GBPVR website, or can I install the latest version from Microsoft?

  Live TV won't start initially
Posted by: Daldana - 2010-05-01, 04:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Just a minor annoyance, but could get bigger if wife has to start GBPVR.

I had to reinstall XP so I took the opportunity to update to GBPVR 1.4.7 and everything installed great. I especially liked the ability to do a manual scan for an ATSC channel just by entering the channel number. The only issue I have is that when I first start the app, the menu pops up instead of going into Live TV. I can use the remote to go to Live TV in the menu and start it from there but for some reason it won't start by itself. I have the "Use Live TV" button checked in config and a working epg, does anybody have any ideas? I'm not at home right now so I can't post logs; will be home later tonight.

I also tried Hoborg's SAF codec but I guess the PC doesn't have enough horsepower to run it. OTA channels are really bad in Live TV.

Thanks
Dave

  Universal LNB Switch Question
Posted by: siliconaudio - 2010-05-01, 08:51 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I've just picked up a new universal LNB for my dish. It has 9.75 and 10.60 GHz local oscillators. Everything I read about universal LNBs has me believing that to switch from low band to high band, the LNB is switched with a 22 KHz tone.

What I don't understand is that when setting up the LNB in capture source in GBPVR's config, the LNB switch settings is up in the MHz range. What should I put in the LNB switch settings?

This is the first time I've come across this problem, as my previous LNBs only had a single LO frequency.

  djkxml errors under mono-basic
Posted by: sbbaxter - 2010-04-30, 08:29 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

Hi

I'm trying to get this app working under linux, but am getting the following error (which does not look specific to Linux):

mono djkxml.exe

Unhandled Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.FileSystem.FileOpen (Int32 FileNumber, System.String FileName, OpenMode Mode, OpenAccess Access, OpenShare Share, Int32 RecordLength) [0x00000]
at djkxml.Module1.checkLinesOnLogFile () [0x00000]
at djkxml.Module1.Main () [0x00000]

This version does work on my windows machine - without error.

Any ideas?

  MPEG Compression/Analog TV
Posted by: 235301 - 2010-04-30, 06:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have an HVR1600 in my system and although everything works fine with analog and digital TV I am left wanting to improve the analog TV visual quality. One of the things I am noticing is the MPEG decoding seems to be the biggest culprit in the quality. First, you notice the graininess due to the compression. I've moved the bit rates up to min 9000/max 12000 and that really doesn't seem to help much. Secondly, one of the things I am noticing is due to MPEG compression it appears the B frames are dominant so you get effects like facial movements where the face doesn't move for a couple of frames and then shifts. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions, especially using the settings for the HVR-1600 in graphedit. Or perhaps a suggestion on decoder that might improve quality. I am using the MS DTV-DVD Video Decoder on Windows 7.

can I record streaming audio only??
Posted by: uglijimus - 2010-04-30, 05:35 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi, I used to use SDP multimedia for recording a daily radio show:
http://www.wjr.net/article.asp?id=1476377

but when you click on listen now, it brings up a new flash-based player which SDP cannot record. So I'm wondering if I use GB-PVR, will I be able to record this show and set it up like a vcr?

thanks
