3-4 Seconds of black screen when pausing channel for the first time
Posted by: wdf1964 - 2010-02-26, 07:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hello all,

I am new to GBPVR. First off the WIKI was great. I've gotten my PVR working well. Picture is good....remote is working well BUT (there is always a but right?) When I first change to a channel and hit pause, there is about a 3-5 second period when the screen goes black. After this short time the paused picture shows back up and you can then hit play and then pause without there being any black screen time. I looked through some of the troubleshooting FAQs but did not find anything. Is this normal functionality or a setting I may have missed? Any help would be reatly appreciated!

I'm sorry..I am using a Hauppague PVR150 tuner card with an external Time Warner Cable Motorola set top box connected via S-Video to the TV.

Thanks

D

  UK sat changes? (E4, E4+1 and More4)
Posted by: BigMoose - 2010-02-26, 02:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Something has changed with E4, E4+1 and More4 in the last week as my live TV in preview mode no longer works with these (all other channels fine - except the Irish DTT channels which also dont work in live preview mode). However they do all record and play fine in timeshift mode (including the irish DTT channels). So I'm guessing nothing major has changed in the tuning values but anyone any ideas what might cause this? It's annoying to have to pause/play to get the channel to work. Not very wife/guest friendly!

Hard drive format required, what to save
Posted by: crazy_gadgets - 2010-02-26, 10:30 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

HI All

After many, many happy months with a stable HTPC, something has broken it.

Windows XP froze on the login screen and wouldn't get any further
Windows blue screened when trying to boot into safe mode so that wasn't an option (and weird that I could get to the login screen when I booted normally, it just froze after I logged in)
CHKDSK was run but problem was still there
Tried to run a repair install of windows but that crashed half way through
Subsequent attempts result in crashes

So now after all that I'm left in an endless cycle of bluescreen crashes (and now way to turn off autoreboot)

Only way I can think of to fix this is to format the drive and start again.

So what I thought I'd do was to transfer the Hard disk from my HTPC to another machine have a look at it and extract anything useful.

So my question is, is there anything I can take from the GBPVR install that will enable me to keep my recordings in the recording database? The recordings themselves are all on a separate drive.

Any help gratefully received.

Rich

  No MPEG4 live tv reception/decoding
Posted by: 12345pj - 2010-02-26, 08:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (16)

Hi,

I used the following guide to install the current version of GB-PVR, http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43362.

The application looks very nice and userfriendly, thank you for the good work.

I am using an HP pavilion s7721.sc, spec uploaded, which is running Vista and a Pinnacle hybrid stick 330e.
Core Duo T2060 (Y) 1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM, GeForce 7500LE.

The plan is to have the bundled WMCE remote and IR transmitter installed, later.

I live in Denmark but Denmark is not present in the list so I have tried with Germany and Sweden both with no MPEG4 / H.264 decoding, the channels are detected but the picture never appears.

It installs ok but I can not watch any channels on mux2 (I understand they are MPEG4 H.264 coded, but I can watch all channels on mux1 which are MPEG2 as I understand it.

I have NO experience with GB-PVR besides the installation yesterday.

Is there some kind of plugin or codec I am missing and if so, how can I Get and install that ?

Another issue is that I tried to setup a scheduled recording via EPG, first a program which was half through at the time I scheduled the recording, it did not start.
Second I schedule another program to record via EPG which was to start in 10 min, it did not start either, any suggestions to solve this ?

I uploaded my logs, at least what i hope is my logs, I appreciate any help.

Thanks Peter

  Live Preview Causes Choppy Playback
Posted by: dukill - 2010-02-26, 05:58 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I set up an old computer about three weeks ago to try and run gbpvr so I can get rid of my tivo and I can have all of my dvds in one place. I tried Mythbuntu first but I could not get it set up for the life of me and I did not have time to learn a new os. Once I found this software I knew that this software is the best freeware for my wants.

My computer specs are:

XP all updates and clean install
GBPVR 1.4.7
ABIT NF-7
AMD XP 3200
1 gig of ram
on board sound
Hauppauge Roselyn
Nividia GeForce fx 5500
120 gb hd

My cable signal is a standard analogue signal.

My problem is I know nothing about filters, mux, or codecs and I am running into an live tv play back problem. The playback on live tv is very choppy and has alot of artifacts, it is not watchable at all. If I record and play back the recordings they look fine. Also if I turn off live preview the live tv play back looks ALOT better with no chop but I cannot stand the delay in changing channels. DVD's seem to play fine but have a little interlacing issues.

I have have been messing with this system for a couple weeks in my spare time but with my lack of knowledge on codecs I feel like I am just going in circles when I change them.

Can anyone suggest any fixes or settings that can get me out of this slump?
I was also wondering if I can set this computer up as a server and client at the same time? Does it have enough power to be a server?

Thanks for any help you can give me!!

It is no secret but a couple of Forum members were looking at updating the pmwiki look.

The one that seems acceptable is here:

Dish Network users with 322 receiver?
Posted by: collin - 2010-02-26, 01:06 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Hi all,

I have the infamous Dish 322 in which I am trying to use both tuners. Anyone who has one of these knows that the second tuner can only be controlled by a UHF remote. Dish Network has recently put out a kit that goes inline and allows control via infrared. I recently purchased one of these pricey things but have been unable to get it to do anything. Link to kit is here: http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental...rter.shtml Has anyone else sprung for one of these and what has been your experience?

  MVPMC playing flac files
Posted by: borgs5 - 2010-02-25, 11:08 PM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (5)

Hi,

I've managed to get flac files playing in the GBPVR emulation in MVPMC. The problem is that it is not gapless so I am trying to get the files to play in mPlayer using a Squeezebox server.

I can get the files to play on another PC using SoftSqueeze and can play mp3s in mPlayer in MVPMC but whenever I try to play flac files (created in EAC with the flac encoder that came with EAC) in mPLayer it just says "Cannot play file".

Are these files supported in the mPlayer that ships with MVPMC and if so any ideas why they refuse to play?

Thanks,

Steve

  ISO Divide by Zero error
Posted by: scb147 - 2010-02-25, 08:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I am getting the following error when attempting to play the 50th Anniversary Mary Poppins DVD, ripped as an ISO:

Code:
2010-02-25 15:00:51.125 VERBOSE [1] System.DivideByZeroException: Attempted to divide by zero. at DirectShowPlayerBase.setPlaybackPosition(DirectShowPlayerBase* , Double pos) at NativeUtilities.MediaHelper.setPlaybackRate(Double rate) at GBPVRX2.Players.x2a148ffd35c37d14.x64fff8c5415b9fc5(String xb2ac3fdb71f19c57) at GBPVRX2.x2be64c56dcebf65e.ActivateItem(Object o) at GBPVRX2.UiSupport.UiList.OnUiDoubleClick(PointF location) at GBPVRX2.BaseButtonListUiTask.OnUiDoubleClick(PointF location) at GBPVRX2.MenuTask.x0be92cb4e3ac1817.OnUiDoubleClick(PointF location) at GBPVRX2.x0061b801bdf12d35.xc3b72bade4bef6d8(Object xdf2e3583f942db7b, MouseEventArgs xc4f45905cb1fc7ba) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnMouseDoubleClick(MouseEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ContainerControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WndProc(Message& m) at GBPVRX2.x0061b801bdf12d35.WndProc(Message& m)
I've tried this on 2 different machines, with the same result. The ISO plays normally in WMP.

Attached are the logs, and a thread relating to this I had with JavaWiz.

Thanks.
