  Browser blocked video playback EDGE
Posted by: eastavin - 2022-02-20, 06:16 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

Hi.  Anything I try to play results in a blank screen and a message in red at the bottom that says Browser blocked video playback.  If I then hit the pause/play button area it starts playing but the message remains.  Does anyone have any idea what this message is trying to tell me?  I am using windows 11 and the built in EDGE browser with all the windows updates applied.

Also I noticed that while the content is playing the square STOP button does not do anything... but I can hit pause and then back to select a new program to watch.  Investigating the not working STOP might be useful.

Many thanks

Ed

Photo What is the primary cause of blotchy rendering?
Posted by: Asher - 2022-02-20, 01:03 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

older hardware (AMD A6-7400K with RadeonR5)
new tuner (Hauppauge quad-HD)
recent upgrade to NPVR 5.x

I've tried a few combinations of renderers and decoders, but new recordings have really jarring screen jaggies and blotchy patches.
Is this most likely to be cause by poor signal quality, or the decoders?

I suspect it's signal, and I'll keep playing with this, but I wanted to seek some knowledge from the hive mind here.

Historically, I've fixed poor playback by replacing the HDD, but this one is pretty new too (< 12 months).

Coincident with the v5 upgrade and the tuner change (previously using an HVR2200) is switching to LAV decoders instead of the Microsoft DTV ones.
Skipping flat out "doesn't work" with those, and we had to switch to LAV.
[Skipping forward is exponential, Skipping backwards goes forward ...exponentially]

Any tips for troubleshooting will be appreciated.

air date information for uk please
Posted by: a1blues - 2022-02-19, 06:49 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

Could you make it possible to include the air date for shows in the information from online as in the uk the default guide data only provides show series and episode information but no air date for the show when it was first transmitted.

  Tiny bug report
Posted by: Caesium - 2022-02-19, 05:16 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (1)

Hey folks,

Just a tiny bug report from me, I noticed in my NPVR directory;

Code:
/home/nextpvr/.NPVR-data# ls -ld log* drwxrwxr-x 2 nextpvr nextpvr  14 2022-02-19 13:37 logs -rw-r--r-- 1 nextpvr nextpvr 6119 2022-02-18 21:27 logs\transcode.txt

So perhaps a hardcoded backslash when constructing the transcoder logfile path somewhere, rather than a forward slash on Linux so the transcoder log would be in the logs directory next to the others. All the other logs are in the logs directory and seem fine.

No biggie just wanted to point it out Smile

  NLite/comskip
Posted by: artmetz - 2022-02-19, 04:12 PM - Forum: NLite - Replies (22)

sub,
NLite seems to be ignoring the comskip locations. They show on the progress bar, but I have to manually skip thru them. I'm running the 1/29 build of NLite.
I've noticed this on 2 longer recordings I just watched. One was on a client machine, the other on the server.
I've setup a short recording and will post it with the logs once I've retested it in case you need more details.

How to toggle view in the Recordings screen?
Posted by: ste-vv - 2022-02-19, 12:38 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

I am using 5.2.6 (220206) on windows 10 and trying to use the new feature that was added on the previous version v5.2.5.220111.

from the change log:
Added ability to toggle view in the Recordings screen. (between artwork and list view)

Question is how exactly do I do this?  - I tried clicking the mouse over various parts of the screen without any toggling occurring

I looked up keyboard shortcuts in the wiki but there doesn't seem to be  anything related

Thanks

  Missing DVB-T subtitles
Posted by: Caesium - 2022-02-18, 06:12 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (26)

Hi Smile

Using Linux server with the latest stable zip distribution, just downloaded today.

I'm having a problem with DVB-T subtitles not always being rendered. This is both in the Kodi client and in VLC. I noticed it was reproduceable on a certain channel so I made a quick recording of a channel that doesn't show the subtitles, and then one that does. There's some differences in the streams in the files.

This one from BBC1 HD doesn't render subtitles, even though they're present:

Code:
Input #0, mpegts, from 'Pointless/Pointless_20220218_17151800-1.ts':   Duration: 00:00:14.94, start: 92460.293756, bitrate: 2685 kb/s   Program 17540     Stream #0:0[0x19c9]: Video: h264 (High) ([27][0][0][0] / 0x001B), yuv420p(tv, bt709, top first), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc     Stream #0:1[0x19ca](eng): Audio: aac_latm (LC) ([17][0][0][0] / 0x0011), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp     Stream #0:2[0x19ce](eng): Unknown: none ([17][0][0][0] / 0x0011) (visual impaired) (descriptions) (dependent)     Stream #0:3[0x19cd](eng): Subtitle: dvb_subtitle ([6][0][0][0] / 0x0006)     Stream #0:4[0x1c86]: Unknown: none ([11][0][0][0] / 0x000B)     Stream #0:5[0x1c97]: Unknown: none ([11][0][0][0] / 0x000B)     Stream #0:6[0x1bc4]: Unknown: none ([5][0][0][0] / 0x0005)     Stream #0:7[0x1bc6]: Unknown: none ([5][0][0][0] / 0x0005)

This one from ITV1 HD renders them fine:

Code:
Input #0, mpegts, from 'The Chase/Season 15/The.Chase.S15E09.ts':   Duration: 00:00:10.12, start: 91602.102189, bitrate: 3350 kb/s   Program 17603     Stream #0:0[0xc9]: Video: h264 (High) ([27][0][0][0] / 0x001B), yuv420p(tv, bt709, top first), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc     Stream #0:1[0xca](eng): Audio: aac_latm (LC) ([17][0][0][0] / 0x0011), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp     Stream #0:2[0xce](eng): Unknown: none ([17][0][0][0] / 0x0011) (visual impaired) (descriptions) (dependent)     Stream #0:3[0xcd](eng): Subtitle: dvb_subtitle ([6][0][0][0] / 0x0006)

I don't know if the unknown streams are confusing the players, or what. I can share these TS files if it would help, they're only a few seconds long but long enough to demonstrate the problem.

I also have the tuner log from tuning these channels, see device-adapter2.log. In this file, at 18:05:41 is tuning to a channel that doesn't show any subtitles. Then at 18:06:34 tuning to one that does.

I did notice that the subtitle pid (PID 6605 / 0x19CD, as per the first paste above) isn't mapped on the first tune, but it is on the second tune (PID 205 / 0xCD). But they both seem to end up in the output file anyway.

Anyway before I ramble on too much more, anyone any idea what might be going on? Very happy to do any debugging requested!

  Nlite black screen playing
Posted by: pascalb - 2022-02-18, 07:39 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (16)

I just installed Nlite (client.zip) on Windows 10 PC,  extracted in a directory. Then run Nlite. I see all the server (another PC) informations correctly (EPG, recording, LiveTV screen) but when I start to play a recording the screen is black. I surely missed something for the installation of Nlite
