  V5 to V4
Posted by: Dale Dewing - 2021-12-24, 10:55 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

Is it still possible reinstall V4.  It worked great.  V5 playback freezes many times.  Tried using the Kodi front end but it does not always display Closed Captions. Sad

Bug: Scanning channels cuts channelnames at 15 characters
Posted by: janoonk - 2021-12-24, 07:45 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (3)

I noticed when I scanned the channels (DVB-C source) that all my channelnames were cut off at 15 characters. I had to manually edit them.

Prefer SD or HD channel when advanced recording on keyword
Posted by: janoonk - 2021-12-24, 02:18 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (4)

In the past when the HD channels were still named ".... HD" I could easily make a Advanced recording like this:
`title like '%Christmas%' and genres like '%Movie / Drama%' and channel_oid in (select oid from channel where name not like '% HD')`

But the channels have been renamed by the provider and all are now HD and the ones that are still SD has SD in their channel name for example "RTL" (=HD) and "RTL SD" (=SD).
I want to record all EPG events that are a movie and contain a keyword for example `Christmas`. But most of the time the event is broadcasted on both SD and HD channels. To save some diskspace and prevent double recordings I want to prefer HD over SD (or vice versa).
To complicate it further sometimes the movie is broadcasted on even more than 2 channels for example: RTL, RTL SD and Film1 Family. How to prevent double recordings of the same movie or is this automatically done by NextPVR?

Am I correct that the advanced textbox can only contain a filter and subquery or can I also do a complete custom SQL query?

How to set Audio Decoders ?
Posted by: dayvboy - 2021-12-23, 09:08 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

I can't find anywhere to set the audio decoders in Version 5 ?   In the older version 4 windows client there was a decoders section where audio decoders could be set but I don't see anywhere to do this in either the new web or windows client ?

The reason I'm asking is because one of the channels I'm recording isn't recording the audio so I wanted to check the audio decoder setup.

  Recording terminated early
Posted by: Stanno - 2021-12-23, 11:06 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (16)

Hi all,
I am using an HDHomeRun Quatro (device IDs 25-28) and had something happen last evening that I don't understand.  I had three programs set to record:
Prog A : 20:00-21:00 on BBC 4
Prog B : 21:00-22:00 on BBC 1
Prog C : 21:00-22:00 on BBC 2
All set with 4 minutes pre- and post-padding.
Prog A was terminated early, at 20:56 when Progs B and C started, instead of 21:04.
I keep a daily back-up of npvr.db3 and, when I looked back, both Progs A and B were assigned to tuner 25 so I can see why Prog A terminated but why were they assigned to the same tuner when there were others spare?
Any help/advice appreciated.
I have not attached logs as they all start at 1:00am this morning, after this all happened.
Thanks,
Stanno

Low quality, but signal is ok
Posted by: sww - 2021-12-23, 09:20 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (11)

Hello!
I use NextPVR 5.2.3.211114 with two tuners: old NOTV TV5Deluxe and new Rebel KOM1060 Astrometa*. The old one works fine, but I encounter problems with the new one.

The video from KOM1060 is pixelated. I have a very good quality signal (2km from 100kW transmitter) and all TVs and NOTV tuner work fine.
I tried to detect any sources of noise (moved computer, power source, used USB extension cord). I found nothing.

Then I tried to work with different software. I found that the signal is pixelated only in NextPVR (using client, Kodi or website - doesn't matter). If I run TVRplayer (the software I 've got with the tuner) the quality is fine. I looked into NextPVR logs and I found nothing interesting - no errors or any information about wrong codecs, etc.

What can be the reason for low quality in NextPVR?

--EDIT--
* i found that this stick is just another Astrometa DVB-T2 with Realtek chip. Probably the problem is related to buggy software. How can I deal with this?

Client UI resolution on ultrawide monitor
Posted by: Ganbou-Ki - 2021-12-22, 09:13 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (7)

Kia ora,

I use a single ultrawide monitor (3840x1080) on my PC with NextPVR for Windows.

In v5, the UI is cramped when the client is sized to 1920x1080:

and the background is stretched when the client is in fullscreen (3840):

This occurs regardless of what the UI Resolution is set to (in Client Settings > General).  I even had a go at putting <UiResolution>3840x1080</UiResolution> in the config file, to no avail.

Not sure if I'm missing some other setting or if this is a genuine bug.  The UI in v4 stays in proportion regardless of client resolution.  It's purely cosmetic but is keeping me from upgrading to v5.

Almost there, but no Scan button
Posted by: GlowTube - 2021-12-22, 07:41 PM - Forum: Docker arm32v7 - Replies (3)

I was happy to learn that there's a Dockerized NextPVR for the Raspberry Pi4. I have configured things and I'm almost there, lacking only the "Scan" button on my device page. Here are my configuration details:

  • RPi 4 , Raspbian 11 Bullseye
  • NextPVR Docker container arm32v7stable, version 5.2.3.211114
  • Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950 USB tuner
  • HD Homerun HDHR3-CC (3 tuners)
  • Guide information from SchedulesDirect

When the Pi boots there's a lot in the dmesg relating to the HVR 950. There was a complaint about missing firmware, and I followed other instructions on the web to furnish the xc3028-v27.fw file. I ran the container using the docker-run command given on the Docker install page, and I was able to bring up the web UI on port 8866. Under Settings/Devices I see my one "IPTV device" along with my three HD Homerun tuners. But there's no "Scan" for the HVR 950, only "Import/m3u" and "Import/XC" (and I'm not sure how to use those options).

As a side-note, if I decide to use one of the HDHomerun tuners, it will Scan, and NextPVR accumulates a large channel list. And from there I can tune any of those channels fine. That's great, but for this exercise I'm interested in the HVR 950, not the HDHomerun's.

Also, I use this same Hauppauge tuner on a Windows copy of NextPVR, and it works fine there, including a Scan button. It required a Windows driver download from Hauppauge to work correctly.

Lastly, I was a little surprised that the docker-run command does not include any --device clauses that would jam the path of my USB tuner into the container.

Thanks for any advice!

  Media file folder setup
Posted by: DSperber - 2021-12-21, 07:59 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (13)

(2021-10-22, 01:29 AM)mvallevand Wrote: In the NextPVR config.xml you can simply add another top level directory that could point inside another folder.

Martin

I wanted to try out access to media files (other than TV) like pictures, video, music, etc., with both NextPVR UI on my Shield Tube as well as using NextPVR.exe on Windows (since they are the same UI).

Unfortunately, both access only the primary "C"-drive where the NextPVR server is installed. That's not where my media files are kept. They are on other drives (e.g. F, and others).

When I start looking for say "pictures" it presents a list of all folders on C. Not only do I not need to access 99% of the folders on C when looking for pictures, but it's really on drive letters other than C where I need to be looking.

Are you saying that config.xml is actually where this is controlled and that it can be updated to point to other high-level drives and/or specific folders? I'd actually like to be able to specify a "library-like" small set of folders which is the only thing I like presented at all. And drive letter should be part of that specification, so that no matter what drive the folder is on it would appear in this NextPVR media presentation browsing functionality.

Can you provide an example of what I should do in config.xml, say to access some non-C folder location?

Also, if it is possible to trim down the C-folders to present, where in config.xml would I edit in order to eliminate these?

  NLite single instance support
Posted by: artmetz - 2021-12-20, 09:07 PM - Forum: NLite - Replies (14)

I'm a heavy user of NLite. Could you add single instance support so that when I launch NLite from my remote and it is already running, it appears and takes the focus like the NextPVR client does?
Normally I'm careful to keep NLite in the foreground, but occasionally I'll switch to another app with my remote and it's tricky to get back to NLite.
Maybe this needs to be a preference in case someone is using 2 instances of NLite to watch 2 different recordings... (Picture outside of picture - lol)
