  general Questions
Posted by: Marty56 - 2021-12-04, 11:15 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (3)

Hi,

I am planning to move from Tvheadend to NextPVR because Tvheadend is dead.
Since it is always a big hustle to change the TV backend please answer the following question.

Is NextPVR still actively developed and supported?
Shall I post issues in the forum, or directly into the issue tracker in GitHub?

cheers

Issue with Astromeda USB DVB-T Tuner
Posted by: bigdodda - 2021-12-04, 06:01 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

After a lightning strike I had to replace my old KWorld USB tuner which worked perfectly on my Windows 10 machine with NextPVR.

I found an Astromeda DBV-T, DVB-T2 tuner for a similar price to the old KWorld one which seem to no longer be available.

After installation everything seemed to work with NextPVR, except that the picture quality is extremely poor eg half the frame is covered by blocking >50% of the time.  This occurs when watching live and in recorded programs.

Initial research suggests this is caused by a poor signal.  However I don't believe this to be the case.  The old card was using the same aerial, a TV is still sharing the same aerial without any picture noise. Further, the picture using the TV software is perfect.

It suggests there is an issue between NextPVR and the tuner.  I've seen a similar comment comparing other PVR software with the Astromeda supplied software (eg https://www.dvbviewer.tv/forum/topic/614...2c-tuners/)

Is there any chance this could be addressed in NextPVR or should I get a different tuner?

  Nlite zoom
Posted by: VCR58 - 2021-12-04, 01:29 AM - Forum: Other Clients - Replies (3)

On my Windows 11 htpc I am trying out the new Nlite client pointing to my Linux NextPVR server. I tried using F7 for changing the zoom mode but the only option I have is "Auto". The SD content I am viewing needs one of the other zoom modes.

Thanks

please check the zip file

nextpvr-update.sh installed in /opt/nextpvr/shell/

it refers to curl "http://nextpvr.com/beta/linux/NPVR.zip"

# curl "http://nextpvr.com/beta/linux/NPVR.zip" -o /tmp/NPVR.zip

Not sure why it is getting truncated with curl?

I used a browser and was able to pull the whole zip file and then complete the upgrade.
my curl version

  Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955Q Supported - US?
Posted by: cybrsage - 2021-12-03, 01:03 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

I have decided to move on from trying to get the Ceton tuners working, via the various workaounds on this forum, and just buy a new OTA tuner card.  I was looking at the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955Q due to its low cost ($79) and no need for a cord (and I have no open PCIe slots in my PC).  Is this tuner supported as one of the digital tuners?

Or should I just buy the more expensive HDHomeRun Flex Duo DHFX-2US ($110)?

I am looking for ease of use and setup with NextPVR.

  2021-12-01 Nlite Build test feedback
Posted by: ninkynonk - 2021-12-01, 09:39 PM - Forum: NLite - Replies (2)

I downloaded the latest nlite build at https://nextpvr.com/client.zip.  Testing feedback:

  1. fastforward/rewind mouse buttons - for me, they do not skip forward/back 10 secs.  They actually act like a pause.  Clicking either one pauses the video and then clicking it again unpauses.
  2. skip back mouse button and Ctrl <- both skip back 30 sec as expected
  3. skip forward mouse button and Ctrl -> both skip forward 60 sec as expected
  4. Once nice feature of the Web client is the ability to skip to a day in the future in the guide by clicking the date.  Doing so brings up a list of dates in the future. I noticed that neither nlite nor nextpvr.exe have this feature.
Thanks
Greg

Copying newly found channels from one tuner to another
Posted by: GnatGoSplat - 2021-12-01, 05:58 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (3)

I'm sure I'm overlooking it, but I can't seem to figure out how to copy channels from one tuner to another if I do a channel scan after the first time.

When there are no channels on both tuners and I do an initial channel scan on one, when I go to save them it asks if I want to copy them to tuner #2.  That works great, but if I do a subsequent channel scan and find more channels, it doesn't ask if I want to copy channels to tuner #2 and I can't seem to find the way to manually do it.

  Time not updating
Posted by: artmetz - 2021-11-30, 10:58 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (7)

I noticed in the V5 windows client the time doesn't update until I do something with the remote. (What's New, All Recordings).
To reproduce, simply leave the client open on one of those pages for 2 or more minutes.
