I haven't paid much attention to the MVP whilst getting the main media center PC running.
I played with a client PC and it worked fine however now I see the price of the MVP is quite good, it looks like a neat bit of kit so...
The question is will it just work like having a client PC? is there anything special I have to do?
It sounds from reading the wiki that I can just plug it in and it will load from the PVRX2 and all be working great - to good to be true?
I've yet to install the software, and am actually only planning my HW setup at the moment. GBPVR looks to be a great piece of SW and I'm looking forward to using it. I've tried to look through the forum and wiki to find out if it is possible to record multiple parallel programs with one tuner (as long as the channels are witihn the same "bunch" (correct term?)), but I've only found a vague notion that it is not possible. Afaik. it should technically be possible (mediaportal seems to have this feature), so if it is not implemented, is this something that might be coming in the future?
So heres the question, at least 1 MVP, pulling EPG via a XML file, access for recording by EWA, so the whlle thing is self contained, there is no reason to access the machine itself.
Will GBPVR run fine if the machine is never logged in, i notice there is a Service for GBPVR but will this service run the MVP, EWA and update the EPG with out the need of any user being logged on?
I get the following error when I try to delete a pending recording. The Anonmymous user in IIS has full control of the gbpvr directory. The strange thing is if I click the "Back" button on my browser and refresh the page (Manage Recordings), the show was actually deleted. There is no firewall on this machine (Windows XP firewall is also turned off), and the recording service is running.

Q1. My understanding is that if you transcode a file from mpg to avi (and delete the mpg), you can watch the avi in gb without having to update the database as gb will play the avi if cant find the original mpg file. My question is that when you delete the recorded file using the gb gui, will it:
(a) delete the file record in the database and the avi file harddisk or;
(b) delete the file record in the database and leave the avi file on the harddisk as it does not match .mpg in the database. If it does leave the avi file on the harddisk, is there any solution to automatically remove the avi file.
Q2. Should I update the database to match the new file type when transcoding. If so, can some one provide me the "sqlite3" cmd lines to do this (for use with a batch file)?
Q3. If you use a program which creates extra files with extensions like .txt, .edl ;and you then delete record in the database using the gb gui, will it also delete these extra files. Is there any way of cleaning them out to prevent clutter & save space?
I noticed that you added support for transcoding .mov files on the fly, but when i try this, the MVP crashes.
It seems like the MVP temp file isnt created, so there might be a problem with the transcode.
ive enclosed the Trans2MVP logs and the MVP-PVRX2.exe logs:
I have Apple Quicktime installed (previously Quicktime alternative) just in case this had anything to do with it, and can confirm that WMP11 plays the file i was trying with no problems.
it's taking 10 minutes to load on fresh reboots and can't get into menu's
here is error in the logs

I mostly want to use the gbpvr for gaming, but now that I know everything else it can do I want it all. if anyone can help I'd gladly appreciate it. I followed the directions, installed the plugins where they go as well as the emulators. I basically organized the folders and put them in the directories where they need to go, but didn't have any luck, please reply back if anyone has a solution to this.
