Will EWA gain the ability to set the new 1.2.9 transcode options?

  mencoder losing program segments
Posted by: mikelu - 2008-03-12, 11:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I'm using gbpvr to record, comskip to mark commercials, and mencoder to remove commercials and compress. It works great for regular programs, but I have found that a two hour American Idol causes the resulting avi to be only 42 minutes long - it loses half the show. There seems to be a limit on the number of cuts in mencoder. On last night's show, it had the first 4 segments (4 parts cut out), then the 10th segment (and one more part cut at the end). The mpg looks fine in Comskip, plays fine in gbpvr, Cuttermaran cuts it fine, but mencoder isn't working correctly.

This is how I call mencoder:

"C:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\mencoder.exe" -priority idle %1 -edl "%~dpn1.edl" -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128:mode=3 -ovc xvid -xvidencopts fixed_quant=4 -vf scale=512:384 -o "%~dpn1.avi"

Does anyone recognize this problem? Am I missing a parameter?

Thanks,

Mike

Nova-T 500 HD and NZ Freeview HD
Posted by: engnz - 2008-03-12, 10:13 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Hi. I'm currently using the HVR3000 for DVB-S and thinking of getting the Nova-T 500 HD to receive the new NZ Freeview HD. I've read the posts on this card but they don't seem to answer some questions I still have:-

Do you know if it comes with the proper H.264 decoder to use in GBPVR or do I need to get it from somewhere else?

Also there is talk of encrypting some Freeview HD content. (HDCP?) If that happens, will I be still able to record the shows in GBPVR like I do now or only view them on LiveTV?

  Lockup on VMR9
Posted by: pastro - 2008-03-12, 08:21 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (14)

Just put together an older system (2600+ AMD Athlon XP, VIA KT400 chipset) for PVRX2 and whenever I play files using vmr9 custom, it locks up and I have to reboot the system. If I play them using overlay, it all works fine.
I'm guessing it's the video drivers, but was throwing it out here to see if anyone has had a problem like this.

  problem with screensaver
Posted by: Clare - 2008-03-12, 07:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

oops I just found another problem:

I was listening to music and the screen saver kicked in, it works lovely displaying the track playing etc, but when I pressed stop, the screen saver was still there, and any key on the remote just reset the screen saver, in other words, I could not stop the screen saver and get back to any of the menus.

I am now trying to replicate the problem, and if it helps, this has happened in previous versions too. Sometimes it seems that the screen saver cannot be cancelled by my MCE remote. what happens is that any button you press on remote just resets the screen saver.

By the way, where can I find info on the screen saver, specifically how it is launched etc, I might be interested in adapting a saver I developed a few years back taking input from GBPVR?

V1.2.9 pvrx2.exe crash after resume from standby
Posted by: erik - 2008-03-12, 07:18 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

As said in the subject
PVRx2.exe crashes after resuming from standby
While the system was in standby it did wake up for rom a scheduled task for a EPG update done by gbpvr.exe f (using the automatic EPG update in pvrx2.exe sometimes does corrupt my clock ) Should I use pvrx2 also for the EPG update?

The error message is

That's it, have you put a Blue-Ray drive in your system yet?

If so, what challenges, difficulties, or quirks have you seen?

The above text is from my GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log when a new show recording was started while watching live TV via a MVP. (GBPVR v. 1.2.9, Capture Card HVR-1600)

Any thoughts? Martin and others thought maybe a driver/resource conflict. Any further debugging I can do to eventually mitigate the errors?

AGP x8 port Vs. PCIE x1 port
Posted by: nitrogen_widget - 2008-03-12, 05:56 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

My motherboard has both an AGP slot & a PCIEx1 slot for a graphics card.

PCIEx1 cards are crazy expensive however the x16 cards are now cheaper than their AGP counterpart.

Has anyone used a PCIE x16 card in a x1 slot & will it still give the video decoding assistance the card advertises to GBPVR?

Or will I run into problems using 16x in my MB?
