I have an Aver media M780 card that is supposed to receive digital cable programs. I can get the standard cable without a problem. I have tried in the configure program to set up a new configuration use the Aver media M780 'bda recording plug-in'
I can not get any digital stations. I have tried with the 'avermedia m780' and the 'avermedia m780 qam' source plug-in. The last tried was the 'avermedia m780'
Got my GB-PVR setup over the weekend. Running the latest version through a WinTV Nova 500 dual card on an XP SP 2.0 dedicated box in the lounge.
Great bit of software btw
Got most of the problems I encountered ironed out, save a small one regarding .Avi's.
From what I have gathered over the last few days, the 500 has built in MPEG hardware Encoding\Decoding. This is great if you have a library of mainly MPEG films. Unfortunately most of mine are DivX or Xvid. When I play a DivX film, I do not get the progress bar, nether can I pause or fast forward the film. I take it that this is due to the film being decoded and played on the fly?
My only gripe with this is, if I stop a film half way through, I then have the problem of not being able to skip to the point I last watched.
Initially I thought this may be a bandwidth problem, since the films are held on my main machine in the other room and piped into the lounge via my wired 100baseT network. So, I copied the film locally and played it - same problem.
Do others suffer from this problem?
Do you transcode the film withing the film library into another format before playing?
I know I could recode all my films into MPEG, but that would take forever (have hundreds of films etc) - suppose it is an option though.
I installed the latest version of the DivX codec's off the net, the rest of the software used is as up to date as I could find - with the exception of the clunky hauppage software supplied with the card.
Oh, also, if I let the film play till nearly the end, I still do no have the ability to pause. So it seems it's always decoding the part just before I watch it.
I have been saving up for a new digital camera for a couple of months and was ready to buy a Canon G9 but I have been reading some very tempting articles on this little Asus which is just about the same price as the camera.
I may have to put the camera purchase off for a while. I travel a lot and my 17" monster Compaq laptop is way too big to use on a plane and is not particulary convenient to use in the airport (9lbs and a 5 minute boot time). I love the idea of a little paper back size laptop that I can throw in my briefcase or in my coat pocket. The machine runs Linux but is capable of running XP. M$oft is supposed to be working on $40.00 version of XP just for the Eee.
Does anyone here own one or have any hands on time with one?
In the recorder conflicts window I have 4 conflicts that are nonsense. Two of the 4 have different program names but all are labeled '1/1/0001 12PM-12AM'
I assume this is a problem with a database somewhere in the program directory.
EDIT -- IF ANYONE GETS COMPRO VIDEOMATE T220 DVB-T CARD WORKING WITH GB-PVR PLEASE REPLY TO THIS THREAD SAYING HOW YOU GOT IT WORKING PLEASE. MANY THANKS. -- END EDIT
GB-PVR v1.1.5, running on Win XP SP2.
London, UK, Freeview with TV arial, Crystal Palace transmitter selected.
Compro Videomate T220 DVB-T card works with other software (but the bundled software is not very good). Also working with MediaPortal software.
My TV DVB-T card is a Compro Videomate T220 which is 'unsupported' but using the wiki guide and the graph edit utility I constructed my own entry for the bda.ini file. I've appended the entry created to the bottom of this post. In the configuration dialog 'Capture Source' tab, it accepts my entry with no complaints and finds it with 'show only devices connected to this machine'.
My problem is with 'map digital channels to EPG channels'. The scanning process appears to work fine, varying values of Strength/Quality (EG. 145/55, 199/46) but I'd guess that's normal.
At the end of the scan I'm faced with a list of 'Channels found in the scan', all of which are labelled 'unknown' followed by a number between 1 and 4. Here's a screen capture -below- is this normal? The other DVB-T software I've tried gets channel names at the scan stage.
I am unable to even start the channel mapping because the preview window fails to display any video at all. To try and fix this I changed the 'MPV Decoder Filter' in the 'Software MPEG-2 Playback' list box of the 'Playback' tab to 'InterVideo video decoder' and to 'System default', and to 'Nero video decoder' none of which worked - though it just occured to me only with 'Intervideo' did I hit 'ok' and return to the config utility later - so maybe the other settings were never actually registered by the software when attempting to render the preview window.
Unfortunately I now have no idea what my next step should be, and can not find any forum discussion about my Compro Videomate T220 DVB-T card. Please advise me on what steps I should now take.
Many thanks, regards, etc..
My custom made Compro Videomate T220 bda.ini file entry:

I've been busy developing TV scheduling software, and just finished adding support for it to control GBPvr as a recorder. Everything works fine, but I have a couple of questions concerning the API I have to use to schedule the recordings in GBPvr. Here they come :
1) My scheduling system uses a channelname to schedule a recording. GBPvr requires a channelOid. Is there a way to retrieve a list of channels (with their Oid) GBPvr can capture and record ?
2) Can I retrieve the "recordingsdirectory" via the API ?
According the doc, there is a static method "GBPVRRecordingsDir" in the class GBPVRINfo in assembly CommonGBPvrUtilities, but I cannot find the assembly on my system.
3)scheduleHelper.SheduleRecording has an (undocumented) overload which takes an int argument called "daymask". What is its purpose ?
4) Can I control on which card the recording will be processed if my system has more than one card ?
Does anyone knows how can I move the ini file to some other directory?
is it a registry entry? parameter to the yapi2xml.exe? running from a different folder (will write to current) ? etc.
I posted this a while back in the burndvdx2 support thread and was hoping to revisit the issue..
Quote:I seem to be getting poor video quality when I use the commercial trim option to cut out the commercials. Whenever there's movement on the screen.. everything gets a kind of blur or more like a slight jitter. Its hard to describe. Does anyone else get this?
If I just mark the commercials as chapters, everything is good.
I burn NTSC discs. I've tried using both "burn DVD" & "create ISO" options.
Has anyone else noticed a degrade in quality when using the commercial trim option?
I usually record shows in medium quality... will upping that to high help any with this issue? Or maybe tweaking the bit rate settings or something?
PVRX2 is crashing when I try to view an HD channel. I am using a Twinhan 1027 and I have setup 2 capture sources for the same card, 1 for one satellite and the 2nd one for the other. The 2nd one is where all the HD channels are. It also takes a long time for the guide to populate for the 2nd source.
Hi, I've been on digital for a while using the ATI mux. Have found in PVRX2 using mvpmc that skipping in a digital recorded video is very erratic. Press the 1 min skip, sometimes goes backwards, skips erratic amounts, skips back to the same point etc.
By chance, because I was playing with the mvpmc config file I set up some file shares to my recordings directory and played a digital based recording using the Filesystem mode of mvpmc, skipping around in this I didn't have any of these issues.
