When I use GB-pvr to play pack recording, the color is "washed out" (ie. losing saturation, black displays as gray) However, when I use Windows media player to play back the same file, the color is very accurate.
I know this might be related to decoder. I tried to de-install ffdshow, and GB-PVR cannot play back the video use the default XP mpeg decoder, play a recording just go black. I tried various decoder such as cyberlink (came with ffdshow), dscalar but the results are similar.
Can someone provide some suggestions? I am very frustrated.
I've got a 1.5 GHz P4 with 640 MB RAM, and 3 PVR150 MCE's. In just about every recording there will be a segment where the recording skips a few minutes (i.e. it's like someone hit the fast forward while recording). It usually seems to happen when another recording is either beginning or ending, but not always. I thought it had to do with the amount of traffic over the bus to the HD, so I started tweaking PCI Latency settings, but nothing seems to help. I've looked at the Hauppauge drivers, and even started archiving my recordings to another drive on another bus each night to reduce traffic when I'm watching existing recordings and recording shows. I have also begun defragging my HD about once a week in case that was the issue. I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I was wondering if people with multiple tuners have also run into this issue, and what steps they went through to fix it. I didn't have any issues with this when I had just 2 tuners (I was also on a P3 with 256MB of RAM at the time too). I also didn't know if switching to PVRX2.exe had something to do it.
I've had this problem before and it just seemed to fix itself. Scary...
I'm having trouble tuning one particular channel (10). When I go into the program guide and select "Watch" everything is fine. When I choose "Quick Record", the video looks fuzzy when I watch it, audio is fine.
So, I went into Tuning Assistant and found that the frequency for Channel 10 should be 192000000. However, when I go into the logs, I see a different frequency being returned in one of the logs.
This is going to be somewhat a cut and paste of this thread, but I will modify it to be up to date with the CommunitySkin.
This is going to be for Beginner skinners.
The goal: Make this tutorial explain everything in enough "plain english" to make someone with NO skinning skill, to be able to try to make themes and skin modifications. I will attempt to explain the "Blue" skin methods, and the differences that the CommunitySkin uses.
Once this thread is complete, I will make a .pdf file for the wiki.
All the features of PVRX2.exe, the new user interface, is controlled by the skins in the \Skin2 folder.
All the features of GBPVR.exe, the old user interface, is controlled by the skins in the \Skin folder.
I will occasionally make updates and tweaks to these posts, so review them the following days to see if there are changes.
Why is this so difficult?
I have 2 cards, 1. ATSC and PVR-150.
The PVR-150 is configed to S-video and get egp DirecTV from SD.
The ATSC is configured for OTA and gets egp from SD.
Once both capture sources are configured I think everything is fine.
The ATSC channels don't show in the TV Guide list at the begining, they are moved to the end in the 9000's and of course don't have any EGP data nor will they tune to the ATSC card.
New to gbpvr and have a question about performance.
Here is what I have,
ATI TVWonder HD650 - This is working very well.
NVidia 7600 GT video card (PCI Express).
AMD Athalon x64 dual core 4200+ processor
SATA drives for both OS and the PVR buffers.
I am using pvrx2.
Video Decoder - ATI MPEG Video Decoder
Video Renderer - VMR9 Custom
I have been able to record a standard def channel while watching a previous recording of a standard def channel with no jitter or skipping. My trouble starts with HD channels. If I record a hd program I can not play it while recording another one.
While recording a standard def channel my cpu usage is about 2% for the gbpvr service. While watching a standard def recording and recording another standard def feed it is about the same with total system usage at about 18%.
I can record HD with no trouble. What should I do about the replay performance? Is there a better video card choice or decoder choice?
I really want this to work so I can give the cable company the boot....
My recording drive failed last week but I was able to image it and restore the image to a new replacement drive. Everything worked except recordings. I can schedule the recordings and the new folder and recording file is created but the file size is always zero.
Any reason this could of happened? WMP will now NOTplay any file type. It was working properly prior to GB-PVR install, now nothing. I've re-installed it (WMP) and still nothing. The files play properly in PowerDVD, MVWDVD to name a few.
I have reviewed several of the posts about problems with the hibernation/standby feature, and I thought I would add another investigation, to see if it has to do with what I am suspecting. Also I have read sub's caveat that he hasn't seen a reason to prevent going into those modes.
OK, my experience: I have set up the Hibernator program and reviewed my settings, so that the computer should go to Hibernate after 30 seconds of time under the thresholds set by the Hibernator program (ie. so little cpu+8%, so little hd access +50 kbps, and so little network access+5%), and the system will go into hibernation for the following conditions.
1) PVRX2 not open, Recording service off
2) PVRX2 open but minimized (not in full screen mode-VMR9 Exclusive), Recording service on, System monitor up to watch the activity
3) Selecting hibernate from the PVRX2 menu
4) Selecting preview from the Screensaver page (where Hibernator parameters can be adjusted).
Will not hibernate when PVRX2 is up in full screen or windowed mode and the focus of the system.
So my question is could PVRX2 be keeping the focus and not allowing the computer to run the hibernation/screen saver (this is where Hibernator resides) by allowing focus to it?
