OK, fine -- not much of an achievement, but I needed an introduction and "Hello all!" has been done.
After seeing some screenshots of said plugin in Hairy's new theme, I realized that my week, nay, month, would not be complete unless I tried out the new theme as well.
And discovered that, while the plugin looked mostly OK just copying the skin files over from one folder to another, the popup buttons were... in a state of unhappiness.
So I tweaked and moved around and resized a bit until they were happy again, leaving me with a warm feeling of inner peace.
Which takes me to my question. What is appropriate for a plugin author to do with these modified skin files? Distribute with the plugin? Submit them for inclusion with the Community Skin? Both? Neither? Stop fiddling with skins and go work on the wiki page which I really should be doing but isn't nearly as interesting?
Or... what?
OK, so that's more than one question. I got carried away.
This is not at all related to GBPVR but recently, for reasons unknown to me, I'm not able to start file sharing in Vista and even noticed that I can't change my workgroup or my computer name. When trying to allow file sharing, I get a 'RPC Server is Unavailable' message. Days of googling and forum searching has yielded nothing. I am pretty much locked down so I'm doubtful it's a virus or malware but these days, do you really know?
I'm not able to do anything to the RPC service as it's greyed out completely.
If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.
When I log on to my main computer/server, I get a small window that says "MVP controller - this is an mvp server process and if you close it, your MVP session will end." Although I very dutifully leave it open, any changes that I make to the config file (& there have been a lot lately because my nvidia card is acting up) closes the file. Is there any way to open that controller file again without logging off and logging back in?
My dev PC sometimes won't turn on, not a sound. If I turn off the small switch on the back of the power supply and turn it back on while holding the PC's front power button it comes on normally. This only happens if the computer has been off for a long time like more than 24 hours. Once on, the computer runs perfectly forever until I shutdown. No hardware has been added to this PC since the graphics card and power supply were upgraded over 2 years ago. The problem turning on only started two weeks ago.
Is this a power supply or power switch issue or other? Any ideas other than leave the computer on forever...
BTW I tried turning off the power supply switch after a shutdown in which case at the next power up 24 hrs later I couldn't even turn it on with the above workaround. Took 10 minutes of playing with both switches.
I select LiveTV. Receiver is sent channel and recording icons shows recording has started.
I have "Use Live preview" enabled. (If I disable it, any time I try to watch live TV, it selects the channel and then goes back to main menu).
I hit pause. Screen goes blank. A small red bar appears up to with 00:00 to the left and 02:00:00 on right (red bar about 40% of left side)
Then, no matter what I do, it goes back to the main menu.
Hit Pause again = main menu (recording stops)
Hit Play = main menu
Hit skip back or rewind = nothing
Hit skip forward or FF = nothing
Also, if I just let it sit there for a while on LiveTV mode, with recording icon showing on PC, I can not get any RW or skip back.
So even though it shows recording, it is truely "liveTV" without any pause, rewind, or recording features.
I have tried using keyboard to ensure it wasn't a remote issue.
I am using with satellite receiver if it matters with s-video into PVR-150.
What am I doing wrong or what config do I need to change?
Note: If I recorded it instead, I can watch the recording "history" while it continue to record....so it is just LivetV issue.
Also, why does the disable of live preview prevent watching anything?
EDIT: If I run GBPVR instead of PVRX2, when I hit pause, I hit "Starting Time Shift mode....Please wait."....and then nothing happends.
I have my HTPC networked with my Macintosh laptop. Is there any way to have my HTPC automatically update itself with the music/pictures on my mac? Maybe have a folder that syncs with it or something?
I am having a problem with motion blur. It seems to be only apparent in sports (presumably because of the fast game speed). It is pretty bad though. Is there any way to fix this? I hope it isn't my hardware. My CPU is a 3.0GHz P4. My video card is a GeForce 8500GT. My tuner is a PVR-500. I have 2GB of memory. That should be enough to display video properly shouldn't it?
Again, any help with any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. I know it's a lot of question and I'm trying to solve them myself, but I have found it hard to find resources with GBPVR info on the internet that pertains to my specific questions.
I'm having trouble getting wake on lan to work with the mvpmc dongle & could use some advise on where to start looking for a solution. I'm using the recommended dongle (Nov '07 I think) with a basic config file - mvpmc --startup emulate --emulate xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx &
MVPMC says it is "sending WOL" and pinging the server, but returns to the main mvpmc screen after multiple unsuccessful attempts.
This is very strange since I can telnet to the MVP from another PC and and wake the server from S3 using the ether-wake xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx MAC command I found in the forum. I can also wake it up by sending a magic packet directly from another pc.
Is it possible that the MVP has the wrong MAC address for the server? How can I check that? Is there something additional needed in the config file? Are there any troubleshooting steps I can take? Note: I am NOT linux literate so any suggested telnet commands will need to be pretty explicit.
Hey, I've got some nice logs! I was listening to netradio and viewing a slide show of pictures. Suddenly (after an hour I guess) my MVP was kicked out of emulation mode back to the mvpmc menu. I didn't do anything like pressing many buttons or so.
After that I deleted the logs and tried to get that error again. I started netradio and watched a slideshow. After a short time the same thing happened again. So here are the short log files.
I'm using the latest recommended mvpmc dongle (3.4 or so) and GBPVR 1.1.5.
Im new to GB-PVR only installed today but been playing around with it all day.
Managed to get it all up and running various useful plugins installed etc...
However when I change channel whilst watching live tv the epg data shows at the bottom of the screen and it looks corrupt - as though there are 2 lots of descriptions being shown over the top of eachother making it unreadable, However whilst recording I can press ^B and view it fine so it only happens on Live TV
Im using Community 3 WS 16:9 skin and MCE Theme
Hope someone can shed some light on what I have done wrong?
I have PVRX2 with option "start on second monitor".
When I laucnh PVRX2, it starts up on the monitor and is shown in the taskbar.
My question: Is there a way to have it shown on the system tray instead?
I am think about a system tray program but I suspect issues as most of these add an incon to the top window bar...which is hidden on the TV. I need a utility that allows you to click click on program taskbar and "move to system tray".
Anyone get this to work?
Do you have issues with remote with app not being in focus when in the system tray?
