On this page http://www1.epinions.com/content_160603278980 I read "One important issue you must make sure that your Media MVP shows up in your router DHCP client list (host name will not be present) IP and MAC address will be or else your router will drop the connection while you view movies, TV shows an etc."
The writer, Tipstir, seems to be a SageTV user but I wondered, does this apply to GBPVR? I thought that once an IP address was given by the DHCP server, it was permanent until switch off. What would cause a router to "drop the connection"?
Is it possible to add file extensions such as .m4a (AAC audio files) and .mkv (Matroska video container) in order to be visible in the Music and Video library in EWA ? Indeed, this media files are working perfectly under GBPVR but are not listed in the EWA interface. Thanks for your help!

I'm interested in why there isnt any sort of tool/code that can decrypt QAM. It's possible to remove DRM from mp3 files; how different is an encrypted qam signal? Are people even trying to create such a tool? Or is there some impossible road-block.
Im just curious.
Hi I've been trying for a month to get this thing working (without success). I can see TV but the Pinnacle software is hopeless and won't go on my XP Media Edition laptop and MCE has bad audio/sync probs as well as too many restrictions. Will your program work with this? I installed it but as I didn't find my device and seemed to be unable to get anything going. If its possible tips on setting up the pvr and epg would be appreciated. I don't need to use the remote that came with it.
HELP! I have been using GBPVR (1.0.16) for many months now w/o any problems, until last week after the Microsxxt .NET updates. After that GBPVR (& ATI Catalyst Control Center- which also needs .NET) would crash at boot up. I have tried everything I can come up with, updated drivers, uninstall/re-install of all .NET versions & updates, update to vers. 1.1.5, tried all the Video renderers, tried re-install of DirectX,etc... I can now at least get GBPVR to load, but when I go thru Config I can only get to where I select Recording Source, and when I select my card,Config crashes. I have searched the forum and can't find anyone else w/ this problem, I know there have been many thousands of people who have had problems since last weeks updates, but apparently no one w/GBPVR. Any help/suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated, I cannot attach any logs at this point as I have not yet re-installed .NET or GBPVR - many thanks ! (PS.. please be kind as I am a newbie/first time poster:o)
I recently installed Gbpvr and love it with my Fusion hdtv card.
I also use a Genpix Skywalker 1 and would like to try it in Gbpvr.
What is involved in adding device support?
Thanks,
Chuck
EDIT: so now i think to search...I see this has been asked...sorry
I want to move all my recordings to a different directory on a different hard drive and set that as the recordings directory. Is there a way to update the database when I do this so it still points to my recordings?
A question if I may as I haven't been running this Plugin long. Do trailers automatically delete themselves from the relevant folder once the films are no longer listed? OR is it a case of manually checking the contents of the folder occasionally and deleting as wanted?
OK, forgive me if these have already been covered, but "start menu" and "config.xml" are not especially rare terms.
So - two questions, guess both for you sub:
First. My plugin has an external exe for a long-running process that is inappropriate to perform inside the config application. I would like to provide a a shortcut to this .exe on the start menu, ideally under "Programs | GB-PVR | Third Party | name".
I'm hoping the "Third Party" will be sufficient to let users know that what follows is not part of the base GB-PVR installation, and, as such, is not your problem, but I would like to clear it with you first. Creating its own folder under programs is an option of course, but as a GB-PVR plugin, it makes more sense to me to keep it all together.
Second. If a plugin makes changes to config.xml (under the appropriate <PluginSettings> node), will the changes be kept, or am I risking them being overwritten? (Hmm, I suppose I could just try it and find out...)
When you set a Manual Recording, the Channel selection only shows the channel name. Can you make it also display the channel #, e.g. "ch# chName" so I should see "51 SPIKEP" instead of "SPIKEP"?
