Posted by: jmh547 - 2007-09-24, 03:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

  Retiring the OLD system
Posted by: valkokir - 2007-09-24, 03:30 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

With the introduction of all the newfangled features in PVRX2, as well as my need for more space upstairs, I decided it is time to retire the Beast and turn my office computer into a GBPVR server. Here's the specs on the old one:

PIII 866 on "Slocket"
P3V4X Motherboard
V3XT 128 Video using S-Video out to 32" SD-TV
896 Mb PC-133 Ram
PVR-150MCE
HVR-1600
SB Live!
160Gb Seagate
40Gb Maxtor
Wireless LAN ZyXel

This whole system ran nearly flawlessly since I joined in March 2005 with a few changes in hardware along the way. I only used it for SDTV so it worked out well.

The system I'm moving to now is as follows:

Athlon 2500+ O/Cd to a 3200+
512mb DDR
ATI Radeon 9600pro 128mb AGP
PVR-150MCE
HVR-1600
320gb RAID1
200GB Video drive
SB Audigy2

MediaMVP on a Zyxel P-330W wireless bridge

It's still a dated system but I have it up and running now flawlessly and nearly without a hitch again (knocks on wood)

Only issues I am having are adding back in my PVR-250 to have 3 tuners. With the 150MCE and HVR-1600 both in there adding the 250 causes some sort of conflicts that I suspect are driver related. Any thoughts on that are welcomed. I also cannot get the dongle.bin.config to load for mvpmc and I suspect this may be due to my bridge. I need to hard wire test it to see if that solves it and then work backward.

  Questions/issues with Vista 32-bit
Posted by: andydrew - 2007-09-24, 03:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Hi,

I installed release 1.0.16 and all of the patches in the survival guide yesterday on a Vista Home Premium 32-bit system (fresh install). I currently have a Hauppage MCE150 analog tuner in this system. I am trying to find a suitable replacement for Vista Media Center since it does not support three features that I want:

* Correct channel lineups for some ATSC channels (mainly PBS) received via Antenna
* Digital sub-channel lineups
* The ability to have different channel lineups for each tuner - will be adding a HRHOMERUN today with two ATSC tuners hooked to independent antenna's oriented in different directions

Questions/issues

1. Sleep. With Vista Media Center I was able to press the power off button on my media center remote while a show was recording. The PC would stay powered and go into sleep mode when the recording was finished. With GB-PVR, when I press the power button on my remote, the PC goes into sleep mode immediately interrupting the recording.
2. Issues with Vista security. It seems that this app is not Vista compliant. I had to change the gvpvr and pvrx2 to run as an administrator. If I didn't the config changes would not take and I would get an error saying there were no channels configured. Of course when running as admin, there is the issue with UAC (disabled UAC to get rid of the messages when launching)
3. What is the best way to launch gbpvr at startup of the PC? Just add to the startup group? Want to be able to control with remote only, no keyboard. Most of the time this won't be an issue since I plan to sleep the PC vs shut it down.
4. When I use the gbpvr app, the screen image is shifted a bit up and left. Does not fill the whole screen. Anyway to resolve? I don't get this issue using the pvrx2 executable. Config application is set to launch in full screen mode 16:9.
5. I am getting the live tuning issue that other people have reported. When watching live tv, about 40% of the time the image appears then stops, the audio continues for a couple of seconds, then the image just stays there. I have to exit out of live mode and re-enter (sometimes multiple times) to correct.
6. Is there anyway to add the search menu option to the pvrx2 program? Since I have issue #4 above I am using this instead of gbpvr to launch. But then it's not easy to search the program guide. Especially since I can't use the proper key on my MCE remote to seach from withing the program guide (issue #7 below)
7. Remote. I have a MCE 2005 remote. Unfortunately when I push the Guide and Start buttons (maybe others), Vista Media Center launches and tries to set up. I have all of the Windows Media Center services set as disabled. How do I resolve so I can use all of the buttons on the MCE remote without Vista Media Center launching.

I believe this is it for now... Thanks.

Recommendation for 2nd ATSC HD Tuner Card
Posted by: tjb - 2007-09-24, 02:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I've been working off and on now for 9 months on a PVR for ATSC HD. Most of my problems have had to do with stuttering, but I upgraded my mother board/processor, and can now run perfectly with the -fse option. I currently have a single Dvico FusionHDTV tuner card. Before I can finally cancel my cable TV, I need to add a 2nd tuner to appease my wife. My question is this:

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 2nd tuner card based on compatbility with the Fusion and price/performance? It would be an added bonus if the card would support QAM under GBPVR, however this isn't mandatory (since the whole reason for creating the PVR was to get rid of cable and go with OTA programming). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, are there any cards that come with a better remote control than the one supplied with the fusion?

  EPG data not showing
Posted by: itxtme - 2007-09-24, 11:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hey guys

Currently living in New Zealand using a HVR 3000 from Hauppage with gbpvr, and i am extremly happy so far. I am just ironing out the last few problems! Now my problem

The EPG i use should come down internally with the feed and i have that option "DVB EPG Broadcast" and that is the option i have selected

http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/image.p...ad16b3.jpg

However this is the result in gbpvr

http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/image.p...07fa78.jpg

Other screenshots for your info

http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/image.p...a82ace.jpg
http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/image.p...d427d5.jpg

I have no idea why it wont pick the data up. When i tell it to update it does something for about 3 seconds and the contiunes as normal, no errors nothing.

Any help!?

Adding Analog Tuner - Dual Hybrid 3010iX ?
Posted by: djgoogle - 2007-09-24, 08:07 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

hello, i am sorry, i am french and i speak a little english

I followed instructions for adding a capture card from the wiki, but the example there is only for digital ones, and mine is digital and analog

i added Dual Hybrid in the BDA.ini file :

Code:
[Pinnacle PCTV Dual Hybrid Pro 3010iX] TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T FILTER_TUNER=7162 BDA DVBT Tuner FILTER_CAPTURE=7162 BDA Digital Capture DVBT PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0 PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
is it good ??

but it's difficult in the direct.ini file

Dual hybrid pro pcie Technical Specifications : Dual-TV tuner PCIe board for digital terrestrial (DVB-T) and analogue TV and radio FM :
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/uk...o+PCIe.htm

i attach the resulting FilterCheck.log

thanks for you help and your GBPVR's job Wink

Can't record ATSC with ATI TV Wonder 650
Posted by: Trippy - 2007-09-24, 06:01 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi, I can't GB-PVR 1.0.16 to record ATSC digital TV on my new ATI TV Wonder 650. I can view the digital channels inside LiveTV so the tuner should be setup correctly but when I go to record all I get are 0 byte length files. I can record those same channels using the Catalyst MC software and BeyondTV.

I'm guessing there's an issue with the Muxer but I don't know how to fix the problem. Running BDA Mux Checker gives me this:

-----

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\Program Files\CyberLink\Shared Files\PDMpgMux.ax
VERSION: 3.5.0107

Found: InterVideo Multiplexer

Found: PP MPEG Muxer (aka, CyberLink MPEG Muxer)

The first CyberLink MPEG Muxer is from PowerDVD. The InterVideo one is from WinDVD. From Config I've tried it with "CyberLink", "ATI MPEG Mux" and "TS Mux" and they all have the same problem. If I use the CyberLink one (which seems to be the recommended one, though I don't know which one it's using) I see this in GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log (complete log attached):

No playback for shows the system wakes for
Posted by: bizztizz - 2007-09-24, 05:17 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I have an odd problem happening when i have the machine come out of standby to record a show... I go in to play it and after hitting play the computer processes like it's starting up the show but then the Play/Delete/Close dialog box stays on the screen and the video never comes up. I do need to hit exit to get back to the GUI though, so it's like it's playing

The files for these recordings are the correct size
I have all of the patches from the survival guide
Other recordings made when the computer is already awake are fine, only when waking it up to record

I'm using 1.0.16 on a 1.4 ghz Sony VAIO with a Hauppauge 350

Logs are attached, any help would be awesome, thanks!
