September 1st came and went and, being the procrastinator that I am, I figured I'd have 14 days of EPG data before I'd have to worry about upgrading to 1.0.16 and SchedulesDirect (again, sheer procrastination on my part!).
Each day since then I've checked my guide data and I've had a full 14 day's worth of data... is this even possible? I haven't checked yet today but as of yesterday evening I had EPG data (from Zap2it) through 09/17.
Don't get me wrong, if it's still updating then I'm a happy camper -- less work for me to do -- but I'm curious to know how this is possible if 09/01 was indeed the drop-dead date for Zap2it?
I'm posting this as a last resort, I have tried many times but still cannot setup my Hauppauge HVR 4000 with GB-PVR v1.0.16 - I have Win XP Pro.
I get the message 'no channels found' when I attempt to open the guide or live tv functions. I have set my capture source to BDA Recording Plugin on the HVR 4000 (DVB-S) with Astra 2A,B,D and have set the LNB up the same as my Sky box. I have installed the XMLTV GUI software to download epg updates from the Radio Times.
The thing is I can watch & record TV from Cyberlink Power Cinema & Nero Home so I'm sure I've just missed out some configuration!
I'm thinking of switching my HTPC to RAID, preferring RAID5.
Silicon Image Sil 3114 SATA controller:
- 4 x Serial ATA
- RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5, JBOD
is available on my ASUS K8N-E Deluxe board, with AMD Athlon 2800+, 1.8MHz, 1gig RAM. WinXP.
I have a few drives in it, but none matched.
I was pricing a new drive to backup a different system, and got to wondering about putting (a few) bigger SATA drives in the HTPC, then I can use its drives elsewhere.
Since the HTPC is on 24/7, has large quantities data I'm not really going to backup otherwise but would like to keep around, RAID5 seems useful.
--Any comments on this onboard SATA RAID controller? I assume it's really fakeraid but I haven't looked.
--throughput on this system likely to be up to the task? RAID5 overhead here, I read a bit and get mixed ideas about overhead- seems it shouldn't be crippling, and a true hardware RAID5 can have other limitations.
If I do this then I guess I just have to edit the recordings-dump.xml to point to one volume name rather than the 3 I have now, with the three drives, then reimport?
yesterday i did a complete reinstall of my system: Windows Server 2003, SP2, .NET 2.0, IE7, DX9.0c, NVIDIA drivers (for the 6200TC), Hauppauge WinTV (for the HVR-1300), TerraTec HomeCinema (for the Cinergy 1200 DVB-C).
I first made sure that WinTV and HomeCinema were able to find and display channels.
Then i installed GBPVR 1.0.16 + no-signal-patch, added the Cinergy as a capture source, created a modded .ini-file to make GBPVR search for QAM256 channels and ran the search. GBPVR found loads of channels, i could also see the picture in the preview window and heard the sound playing during the search.
I saved the config, started PVRX2 and tried to watch LiveTV.
The first strange thing was that the first time i clicked "LiveTV" i was presented with a fresh main menu instead of some TV. Clicking "LiveTV" again led me to the LiveTV screen, showing the channel OSD on the border as usual, but no picture and sound. After a few seconds the "No signal ..." box popped up and showed me a Signal strength of 0% but a signal quality of 100%!
This was the case with every channel i selected, so i couldn't watch any of them.
I tried GBPVR.exe also, with the same results.
As it was quite late yesterday when i got to this point, i didn't investigate much further yet. I was just wondering if
1. anyone had a similar experience yet and could give me a hint where to look at?
2. Somebody could explain to me technically what "signal strength" and "signal quality" mean in the DVB context? (just curious)
So for a while I was using the nightly encoding feature to create xvid files using the stock ffmpeg settings. These were taking my 1.9 GB MPEG files and creating avis that were about 600 MBs or so. This was great, but the problem was the fixed bit rate was causing issues when lots of action would happen.
After reading some other posts, I decided to try using -qscale instead of -b. With a -qscale setting of 6, I get great quality, but the file sizes are still too big, anywhere from 800 MBs to 1.1 GBs.
In one case, it generated a 3.1 GB file from a 1.9 GB MPEG!
I tried using -sameq instead of -qscale, but that created a file that was at least as big as the source.
So clearly, something is wrong. Can someone take a look at this setting and tell me if I'm doing something wrong? How can I get smaller file sizes?
I like youtube plugin, but I cant watch on gbpvr modus. and can I understand that youtube plugin can only 99.12 version or 1.0.8?
I first use 1.0.8 then 1.0.16, but both I can't watch youtube.
logs is in zip!
I found that problem:
Code:
Encountered unexpected problem downloading YouTube file: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
The MVP crashed, according to the log because the program couldn't find some images (see attached logs, I only attached the logs from the MVP, because these were the only logs that have the date of today).
I didn't change anything at "\skin2\blue" after installation.
I have set up a new computer with a HVR-4000 to be able to view DVB-T. Most of the times it works ok, but sometimes the tv image freeze when changing channel. I then need to go back to main menu and enter live tv again and it works. Where should I start looking for the error?
