  Center PVRX2 menu on MVP
Posted by: smiddy10 - 2007-07-08, 11:18 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

I can't seem to get the menu screen to center on my TV via MVP.
It did this with the previous version too.
I tried the plug in tool still can not correct this.
I get over an inch of blank screen on the left of the menu screens. It does not do this on Video playback. Hauppauge's fits and so does Beyond TV's skin but I can't get gbpvr to fit.

It's just sort of an annoyance but not a show stopper.

  EPG Updates failing...
Posted by: ianscrap - 2007-07-08, 11:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Is anyone's EPG updates failing? Mine are failing both on the Zap2it option and the XMLTV option. This has been happening for the past two days.

Thanks for the help.

  v1.0.8 - System Menu
Posted by: Carlito - 2007-07-08, 11:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Should the system menu still appear in the new version (pvrx2.exe) ?
The logs show that the task is being added but it doesn't appear in the list.

I am having an issue were the data for all saved recordings and everything is not being upgraded in the new version. Its killing me because it has recordings that are waiting to start as well as a lot of saved recording info. Is there a way to move my old data to a new version?

Old UI on MVP? + comments
Posted by: bungle - 2007-07-08, 10:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Is there a way to run the old UI on the MVP (since Net Radio, for example, isn't present on the new one)? It's easy enough on the PC but for the MVP I don't know how.

Overall I think the new UI is sharper and nicer in my limited experience so far. You characterized it as a beta of sorts, which is probably a bit modest, so take these opinions lightly:

Main menu - only a few items are visible before they scroll off, making it hard to see what's where and wasting a lot of real estate. There looks to be some room between where things scroll off and the edges of the skin's curve - a few more items could fit, allowing more to be seen at once. Being able to see more items (to me) means I can go right to it instead of going slowly and waiting for the item to appear. Also, changing the color or jogging the selected item to the left a bit would further contrast it from non-highlighted items.

TV Guide - the show popup is better overall but the buttons are smaller - the bigger ones in the old UI were a bit easier to read. (The coloring is better than the outlining, though.)

The buttons on the left in the recordings/videos/music sections are just text until selected/hovered. I think that's pretty common in UIs now (eg Microsoft toolbars) but when stuff on the right is selected it just looks like a bunch of text.

I wouldn't mind an option to turn the animations off (or have a "noop" animation). They're neat once but after that just cause me to wait (even if it's 1/2 second).

Overall, though, it looks very sharp. A little more muted and professional - good work. I was on 98.13 and the upgrade seems to have worked flawlessly. Great job again.

"Failed to find the GUI server"
Posted by: wannabepvr - 2007-07-08, 09:46 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

Using the 1.08 gbpvr.exe I can load the MVP application, but then on the MVP reboot I get a a "failed to find the GUI server" The MVP just keeps searching.. ... ... ... ....

I get this with both the new dongle.bin and the one from 99.12. I have confirmed the firewall is off (but I guess that is obvious if the app loads)

My MVP works using the PVRX2.exe but I want to retain the old interface for the moment because I rely heavily on some of the features such as setting-update EPG and settings-drive space.

I have searched, but the first few days after a release is so crazy I may have missed if this has already been raised.

  MVP Changing channels problem
Posted by: snowmanaxp - 2007-07-08, 08:47 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (6)

I am attaching my logs below.
I started this sequence at about 16:38.

I started Live TV, it was on channel 48. I used the "mini guide" what pops up when you press the go button to change to channel 50.
I waited a couple of minutes to about 16:40 and tried to key in chennel 45. Nothing happened. I saw the MVP status light flash when I pressed the 4 and 5 keys.
I then waited until about 16:42 and pressed the up arrow to switch to channel 51. That worked fine.

  Tray icon starts old interface
Posted by: donschjr - 2007-07-08, 08:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

When I use the system tray icon to start GB PVR I get the old interface. I can run the new interface from the PVRX2 shortcut in the start menu. How can I get the icon in the system tray to start the new inface?

  zap2it plugin problem
Posted by: stangdaman - 2007-07-08, 08:17 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (4)

Hey everybody. It's been a while since I've been here. Haven't really needed any help everything has been running well.

I realize this will be kind of useless to me in a bit anyway but for now I'm still using it. It doesn't appear to be updating the listings on its own. For a while I could manually go in to the config and just hit update and it would do it though. It has the current lineup until 9:00pm, which is of course when the show I want to record comes on Smile funny how that works. Anyway, when I try to get the epg data I get the attached error. I checked my subscription and everything seems alright. I'm not really sure what's wrong. Also here is the log from when I was trying to do this. Sorry it's so long but I didn't know what would be important and what wouldn't.
