Hi Guys,
I just downloaded and installed GBPVR and when I go to start the program an error message appears saying "GBPVR HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE" has anyone any idea how to fix this?? Also, when I try to tune in my channels it their's an error message about cross bar fields?? I have a pinnicale PCTV Rave card .
Hope you can help ,
I have encountered the ver 99.12 has a problem with reoccuring recording problem. I have set a repetitive recording once a week but encountered it will only record for 2 weeks and after that it doesnt even appear in the pending section. I have used also installed the patch GBPVRbackendcommon.dll but it doesnt help at all. Any recomendation or anyone encounter similar problem. I do not have any EPG update or anything like this in the configuration. Thanks.
Hi
i am puzzled little bit. I do not have external remote. It seems like there is no menu item for stop, play next track etc to use with mouse or keyboard. Are there any shortcuts?
This is something we have discussed in the past, but I noticed something I didn't notice before:
I "complained" in the past that GB-PVR will not recognize correctly my Live TV.
I have a wide-screen TV, and so is the setting in the config app.
When in "Auto" mode, showing 16:9 videos use the full screen. But watching live TV (from a SD feed) also uses the full screen (which is wrong).
However, what I noticed now, is that if I watch recorded shows (from the same SD feed), it shows them correctly in 4:3 mode. How come? I mean, the live TV and the recording should have similar data, no?
So, why won't it recognize the Live TV as 4:3 too?

this way or another, this was raised in the past (I think by me as well), but I wanted to add something.
When clicking on the Video in the Video Plugin (or for that matter on a picture or music file), I would prefer to see a sort of popup like with the recording screen.
The reason I bring this up again, is I thought it would be nice to also be able to get video info (such as file size, resolution, length, etc.). this "popup" screen could be a perfect place to put this info.
Plus (and this is the point I think I have raised before), it will be more consistent across the application, plus reduce the need to use the some-what awkward left-side menu.
The link for "Play File" seems to have an extra "/public" in the URL. When I click on it, I get the error in VLC "Unable to open 'http://creemore:7647/gbpvr/public/public/download.aspx?rid=_wEClxE*&path=_wFl&mode=1'"
At least for me, it looks like it won't do IMDB lookups anymore. I figured this day would come at some point. It's still a good organizational plugin, if nothing else.
I'm beginning to suspect that codecs and muxs share a significant amount of DNA with supermarket trolleys - you know the way that trolleys seem to want to do their own thing...
I had everything working fine, then all of a sudden when playing a .mpg video on a machine set up as a GBPVR client:
GBPVR plays video with no audio
WinAmp plays audio with no video
VideoLan plays both
So some codec or other has suddenly decided to turn left when I really wanted to keep going the way I was heading, or maybe it's a mux - or a graph .
With a screwdriver and a hammer of the right size I could fix a trolley, but I don't have a clue where to hit a codec.
I know what a codec does and I have some nice tools like GSpot to find out how a file is constructed, but I don't know yet how to figure out what codecs any of my players are using for the same file, or how to control what codecs they are using. I know that there are various config options but they generally rely on the user already knowing which option to chose and so provide little guidance as to the effect of changes (thats why I normally go with the defaults).
Anyway the question is: does anyone know of threads or articles or books through which mastery of the codec could be achieved?
The sorts of thing I want to learn about are:
Installation: what makes a codec available to the OS
Discovery: how do players know which codecs are available
Playback: how do players match a file to codec(s)
Control: how do you change things for the better?
Okay so I re-installed XP and everything else. GBPVR is up and running and I'm able to watch TV. Sort of. Some of the channels seem a bit off in their tuning. The picture is fine but the sound is mostly static. The next channel can be okay. Sometimes by flipping back and forth between channels I can get the sound to come in clearly. Does this cause it to re-tune the channel. In any case it is only temporary and if I channel surf away the problem re-appears. What can I do.
