I noticed the option of the "Sigma Designs X-Card" in the playback section on the config app. Well anyway, there's one for sale locally, so I started wondering about it.
I found a couple of reviews on the card, and they only talk about DVD (mpeg-2) playback. Anyway, if someone has some experience with it could you answer a few questions for me?
Can you use the card for playback to a monitor? Can you use it for .ts or ms-dvr files? I'm interested in either upgrading my video card, or adding this card (if the price is right ) I'm mainly looking for something to do HD playback to a monitor and the best encoder I've found for HD is .ts so I'd like something that has a hardware decoder for that file format.
I've just noticed that there were a number of empty directories in my recordings directory.
After a bit of experimenting I found that deleting the recordings from the menu on the main PC deleted the base directory when the last recording in it was deleted, but doing the same from a client left the base directory in place. I've not had a chance to check from an MVP to see what it does. - Just checked and MVP does delete base directory.
Client configured for streaming, everything else seems to work fine. Which logs required from server and slave?. Seems to be 100% reproducable for me.
I have GBPVR setup in a client/server setting. If I try to run GBPVR on the client machine when the server is not running, GBPVR shuts down on the client after the "Initializing..." splash screen. Unless I have misconfigured something, it looks like GBPVR needs the server to be running for the client to run in a client/server setup.
Would it be possible to run GBPVR on the client machine even if its not able to connect to the server? In this scenario, the GBPVR client could disable features (e.g. TV viewing capabilities, etc) that are unavailable, while enabling features that are installed locally on the client (e.g. DVD watching, Plugins like YouTube, Weather plugin, Netradio, etc).
If this feature is already available (i.e. if I have misconfigured something), feel free to move this to the appropriate forum.
I haven't been able to log into GBPVR EWA for months now, finally had time to try to work on it. I have the previous build (60 i think)
Here is the message:
Server Error in '/gbpvr' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
I've looked through the forum but I wasn't able to find an answer so either it isn't there or I don't know what i'm looking for.
I'm forced to a certain amount of overscan on my SD tube TV with my ATI Radeon 9550 using the component adaptor.
It's fine for video but some text from the menus runs off the screen.
Mostly the Date in the main menu & the menu buttons on the left in the other menus.
This is with using the default skin & most other skins.
How do I scale down the interface?
Is it locked to the desktop?
I figured out how to scale back the playback screen and OSD, but this does nothing for the actual menu itself.
i asked this question a while back, but would like to add it to the wish list.
I have two MVP's, one to a 46" LCD the other to a 18" LCD so the tv guide looks fine on one but bad on another. Selectable themes per MVP would be nice.
I have a very bare install, just drivers and ATI catalyst control center. GBPVR installs correctly, and I can configure the DVICO tuner (after modifiing the BDA.ini slightly, see below). I can map channels to my EPG, so it seems the software is able to tune my card. However, anytime I try to access LiveTV or when a scheduled recording starts, the application crashes. Sometimes BSOD, sometimes just an "error reporting" pop-up. I've attached logs and a screenshot of the event viewer entry.
The error message in event viewer points to psisdecd.dll, and after a scant search on google it appears there might be a stability issue with the Win2K version of this file when tuning channels? Hopefully somebody with a similar setup can share their experience. (As a side note, I tried installing GBPVR on my wife's Win2K pro computer which has a DVICO FusionHDTV5 RT Lite card, with the same results.)
BDA.ini entry for the DVICO FusionHDTV5 RT Gold (ATSC) card:
[Fusion HDTV5 RT Gold (ATSC)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=FusionHDTV, BDA Tuner1
FILTER_CAPTURE=FusionHDTV, Transport Stream Capture1
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
Thanks in advance for any insight anyone can provide!
