I'm your newest newbie and loaded with technobaggage.
I have a new lenovo 3000 with 19"lcd running amd athlon 6400x2 @2gig with 1 gig DDR and 250GB sat drive. Runs great. Shows the windows media center pool table intro video in breathtaking hd and color.
Now my problems begin:
I am piping in my DishTV signal which outputs rf on ant. channel 60. The box is in another room and I control it with a uhf remote. I had been viewing this signal successfully on a tv/vcr lashup, but thought it would be nice to get tv and analog video inputs on the computer screen for record and edit and burn use. (And maybe even play around with on-air hd.)
Neither Hauppauge, vista media center nor gbpvr s/w will allow a successful setup. They can't just let me set the card for ch 60; they insist I be tied into a program guide and they scan for my signal on typical cable box output connections like ch 3 or 4, or video jacks. I finally was able to force the card to 60 using the Hauppauge IR remote. I can now get video via vista media center. However, vista won't let me access the hd tuner because it doesn't know of any hd transmitters in my (Phila/South Jersey) area. (There are 8 or 10 according to Titan. )
The video I am getting is solid, without jerkiness/lost frames. However, it is not as crisp and sharply defined as the old tv screen setup. The record function appears equally good.
Any suggestions you guys can offer will be really appreciated and may keep me from returning the card within the 21 day CompUSA limit.
In tonight's (0313) dongle, I thought I'd have some fun and so I enabled AC3 audio. It is only for fun because the audio and video are terribly out of sync but I thought someone might be interested in see what the mvpmc is capable of.
I actually only tested with VOB files in mvpmc native mode but it could work with emulation mode if the following conditions are valid
1. You have digital output on one of the newer revision H mvp's or you have mod'ed your older mvp, perhaps using jksmurf's execellent guide at this link
I suspect it is quite simple, but I was just updating the FBHV skin to XRecord v0.47, and couldn't figure out where to edit to make the size of the Item# text box bigger (see below), and if there was some way to skin the recent/pending list that would be great too
Here is the error I get. I copied the empty.db3 to gbpvr.db3 and restarted and still no go. I uninstalled GBPVR and reinstalled it and still no go. Any help? thanks

Installed v0.99.12 over the top of the previous version and it deleted my capture sources!
Attempting to add them again and I get as far as mapping EPG to the DVB channels, it downloads the EPG data and then it bombs out with the attached error.
How do I cancel a Recording. I brought up the TV Guide and found the channel and time of the recording I wanted to cancel. I hit Enter and Cancel but that didn't do the job. Then I went into Recordings and Pending and cancelled each one in there. Now no more a showing as Pending. Have I done this correctly?
I plan on running GB-PVR on a PC next to my TV. Is there any benefit of using a MVP in this situation? I was planning to connect the PC directly to the TV, then ran across this forum and it caught my curiousity.
I'm trying to install and run gbpvr on a win2k pc, but trying to start Config I get the following message:

This is a new app called StartGBPVR. Its primary aim is to ensure that GB-PVR remains the top window and so remains responsive. But that's not all it does.
Why did I write StartGBPVR?
I wrote it because my media PC sits in the living room under the TV and it's driven by a remote control, not a keyboard or mouse (except in extremis). In other words, it's treated an an appliance, not a PC. Also, I am not the only user, so others rightly get frustrated if it appears that GB-PVR is not responding, when in fact it's just lost the focus.
What StartGBPVR does in detail
1. It keeps the GB-PVR program in focus. It does this non-aggressively - ie it checks only every 20 seconds, so if you're quickly doing something else on the PC, it won't annoy you. What this means is that Windows errors and random dialogue boxes which open on a second monitor or unseen under the app can no longer make GB-PVR appear frozen.
2. That said, I found that if I was using the Config program or GB-PVR is minimised, then I didn't want GB-PVR stealing focus. So if Config is running or GB-PVR is active but minimised, StartGBPVR waits until Config quits, then either starts or reactivates GB-PVR.
3. If GB-PVR stops for any reason, StartGBPVR restarts it (with a splash screen) - but again, it waits 20 seconds beforehand to give you time to stop the StartGBPVR application if required.
4. When GB-PVR starts, on my machine when it maximises there's a two-pixel border. Annoying, and I couldn't fix it any way other than to use this program to automatically issue a Restore then a Maximise command to get rid of the border when GB-PVR starts. It only does this once per GB-PVR start.
Instructions for use
1. Simply start StartGBPVR in the usual way and leave it running. There's no CPU overhead except briefly when it takes action.
2. If you want to pause StartGBPVR, simply click on the icon in the system tray.
3. If you want to stop StartGBPVR permanently, right-click the tray icon and select Exit.
4. If you start StartGBPVR and GB-PVR is already running, StartGBPVR will silently get on with its monitoring function.
5. If you start a second copy of StartGBPVR when it's already running, it detects that and quits.
StartGBPVR was written and compiled using AutoIt.
Please feel free to make comments and suggest improvements - I'm sure there are plenty that could be made...
