Both of my win2k pro machines will power down completely from the start menu>shutdown control. If I try to execute the shutdown from within GBPVR both machines go to the It is now safe to turn the power off message and I have to manually press the power button to get it to power off.
Bgowland offered this piece of info
bgowland Wrote:The ShutDown plugin uses the WMI Win32_OperatingSystem class to invoke either the Shutdown method or the Reboot method. The first looks like it would leave a machine in the 'safe to power off' state. To force power off would need the Win32Shutdown method.
I know most people are using winxp or above so it's not high on the priority list, but if there is a simple fix that would be good.
Based on the suggestions of McBainUK and Sniperdude there is a workaround using psshutdown.exe as a custom task. This does correctly shut the machine down so there is no ACPI issue that is preventing shutdown which is usually the cause of the Safe to power off message.
I just got a cheap Conexant Card from CompUSA, but I can't get any drivers for Windows Vista and I will give it to a friend. The card comes with a remote control that is very similar to the Hauppauge Remote (similiar number of buttons that do similar things) but it, of course, goes into the Conexant card and has its own conexant control program. It all seems pretty analogous to the Hauppauge setup, but it isn't.
My question is... can I get it to work with GBPVR and how should I go about doing this? Any ideas?
I have been having issues with GBPVR recording things an hour early since the daylight savings time switchover. After searching on here....i patched my xp rig, but i'm trying to empty the EPG data, but nothing happens. I have 2 pvr-150 cards....does that matter. I hit empty under both...but when i pull up gbpvr, there' still guide data??

I recently acquired an HDTV so I no longer need my ATSC-11 HDTV tuner boxes. They receive OTA HDTV and feed it to a monitor or can down-convert to standard TV (NTSC) that can feed a tuner card via s-video or composite. I was using one to feed my GB-PVR system via s-video into a PVR-150 card. That way I could record HDTV shows and view them with an MVP (in SD). I used the other one to feed my NTSC TV. Even tho they down-convert the HD the resulting picture quality blows the socks off any analog signal I've seen. They're ATSC OTA only (won't do cable) and will output up to 1080i if you want to feed an HD monitor. For more info, look here: http://www.smarthome.com/97332.html (it's the best link I could find).
I thought I'd offer them to the forum before I put them on eBay or craigslist.
I'd like $75 each, including shipping to USA addresses.
I have been searching and searching. So if I missed the answer. Please reply with a link to the right thread. Also I hope I am in the right section for this thread.
I just installed the latest GB PVR version v0.99.12, on XP SP2 non MCE, AC3filter 1.11 , CCCP codec pack 2.22.2007, Quicktime 7.1.x, WMP 11.
I just installed GBPVR yesterday. And it plays my AC3 videos fine. But quicktim movies do not play.
But even for non Quicktime movies, I would like to be able to use Windows Media Player 11 for all my videos. Especially all NON-quicktime videos. I really like the interface and settings for my setup. If I could quickly have .mov files play with Quicktime from within GBPVR and then ALL other videos play using WMP11 from within GBPVR, that would rock.
But I would at least like to get WMP11 as the player for my video files, even if I have to use it for Quicktime movies as well.
Is this even possible with GBPVR? Or do I have to use the GBPVR internal player only? Or am I missing how GBPVR really works?
Here's the scene.
Backend Server 1(big but slowish) records programes.
Frontend Server 2 (smaller but faster) streams programmes/ database to MVP and pcs via EWA.
When playing a divx encoded file on a MVP the file is streamed by server 2 from server 1 then transcoded to MPG2 and recorded back onto server 1 as MVPnumber.mpg.
This is then streamed by the MVP from Server1
There is a bottleneck on server 1, especially when recording another programme, as it is handling 4 simultaneous file transfers, causing glitching on the playout file and preventing the frontend server transcoding as fast as it needs to keep up
Is there a way to specify the temporary transcode directory as it works extremely fast when the files are played/transcoded only on the front-end server
I have some problems with DVB-T subtitles. I need danish subtitles, but they are not shown at all. I have tried both with LiveTV and recorded TV without succes. It is not possibly for me to select the danish subtitles as primary or secondary language, only english is available. Pressing CTRL + Y results only in "No subtitles available".
What could be the problem?
