Is there a way in UbuStream2 to use Windows Scheduler to autosynch dynsources?
Rather than have to wait for the the AutoSynch option within GBPVR to complete (being impatient as I am), I'd like to have the latest clips available 'on demand', having been updated at scheduled times throughout the day with Windows Scheduler.
If not, perhaps this is something you may like to consider in a future version.
Oh, and while I'm on my wish lists, have you considered displaying a jpg file that may be associated with the clip? Presumably, this may need to be cached having been downloading during a synch. And is it possible to display the 'description' of the clip as the clip is selected, rather than having to select 'details'? (Is this a simple skin update - something I've zero experience with)
I've been interested in getting TV/video into my PC for a long time and have played with capture cards back in 3dfx voodoo time. But I've always been using the bundled software until recently.
I tried couple of software DVRs and GBPVR seems to be the most featureful and well supported. However, I was really disappointed after trying several hours. I have an ATI theater 200 (theater pro) card, an old AveMedia capture only card based on SAA7xx chipset, and a 3dfx voodoo tuner card. None of them is supported by GBPVR itself, and the software plugin always display a "value out of range" error and closes. I understand none of them has a hardware encoder, but I'm sure most consumer purchase a TV tuner first before researching in software and will end up in the same situation as I am. I also question the usefulness of hardware encoder, as I have seen MPEG2 encoded by PVR-250 and I am not impressed by its image quality compared to a software encoder. I personally would like to have TV shows encoded in DivX rather than converting them later. As of CPU load, I don't think it is a big issue, real-time software encoding seem to take less CPU than displaying it on screen (watching live tv in sage = 25% CPU, background encoding = 10% CPU, 2.92G C2D, 2G ram).
So I ended up using SageTV, since it is the ONLY program I can get it to work (tried everything possible, beyondtv, yahoo go tv, media portal). GBPVR seems very promising. I just hope it supports software encoder in later releases and I am sure the user base will likely increase 10-fold as there are so many TV tuner cards and so few has hardware encoder.
Any chance someone could develop a custom list of Games plugin? I.e. click on Games and then be presented with a list of games and an icon (possibly the application icon?) that have been "allowed" via the settings.
This makes it the ideal Media Center screen for children. One screen that can access DVD's, Live TV, Radio Stations, Games etc....
Any chance you could add some settings that when enabled and gbpvr is running that keys like Alt+Tab, Alt+F4, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Windows Key etc are disabled. Therefore when the application is running there is no way to get out of it except for some magic key press or a password or something?
This way my children could never get around the screen and would only have access to stuff within gbpvr and not Windows itself!
We have discovered, although should have though of this before :o , that you should not run the GenRss.exe process from the web\bin directory of GBPVR since it will cause conflicts with the web server which lives inside the GBPVRRecordingService.
To eliminate this isssue the batch process should be run from a seperate folder....it can be anywhere on your PC. I will be defaulting the directory to be RSS for the GenRss.exe and config and the Rss.dll files.
If you are not using the batch RSS generator GenRss.exe then you can safely remove the GenrRss.exe and GenRss.exe.config files from the web\bin directory.
For the batch utility to run you need to have 3 of the gbpvr dll files in this directory as well......I will not include them with the distribution.....you can copy them from the gbpvr directory. As an alternative you can simply install the GenRss.exe, config file, Rss.dll and TartugDN.dll file in the gbpvr directory and and you will not need to copy dll's any where.
To run the GenRss.exe batch process you need these files in the directory:
I've tried recording 2, 30min shows both have recorded ok but when i play them back they stop at about 6 mins and gbpvr goes back to the recordings menu.
After all the time it's taken me to get things working at all, perhaps I should count my blessings....
but I wondered if anyone here (have downloaded and am using gbpvr software which is very impressive) might know how I can get my freecom dvb stick to pick up a few channels.
My missing channels are channel 4, more 4, e4, film 4+1, itv1, itv2 itv3. I have tried rescanning several times. Sometimes I get 56 channels (lots of radio channels, which typically I am not bothered about!) and the ones I've listed are missing. Sometimes it is even worse and I get only 39 channels in total with lots more tv channels missing. (this is the list I get with totalmedia the software that came with the the usb stick, but exactly the same tv channels are missing in gbpvr). I have discovered that the channels I have listed are from the mux2 set in the UK.
I am using my 'proper' aerial connection which has always enabled an ordinary freeview box attached to the tv to pick up all channels. So it is the stick - I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do rather than having to spend more money on another brand.
Thank you.
Edit: I'm not sue whether this would have been better in the support/hardware forum. If a moderator thinks it would, then please do move it.
I've installed GB-PVR on another PC, this one is a Windows XP machine.
When I launch GB-PVR the error message pops up. This is the error:

Since a few weeks my system won't hibernate automatically any more. Before that it worked fine.
I tried all kinds of things, but nothing worked, until I decided to shut down the rec-service. Guess what, the problem was gone. I tried with no mvp-server started but that didn't help. Only with the rec-service stopped the system goes to sleep automatic.
In process-explorer/threads I see constant activity. I made a screenshot.
The numbers in front of the lines keep changing and every ~10 secs the bottom-line stops and starts again (I think). I turns red and then green and then no color.
Any ideas, is this normal?
