Twinhan ATSC - Can anyone recommend decoders/muxes?
Posted by: dorbabil - 2007-02-23, 08:34 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (16)

I'm starting to get kind of fed up with this whole thing. I can't figure out what's going on.

After a few hours of installing, uninstalling and reinstalling a variety of things yesterday, I finally managed to get gbpvr to work with this card. It worked pretty good, but I had to restart the feed every commercial break or so to resync the audio and video. Now, though, nothing even works! No matter what codecs or mux I choose, it seems like the best thing that happens is that the audio pops on, crystal clear, for a second and then cuts out as soon as the video starts (the video is blotchy AND running in slo-mo).

I don't know what else to try, so I'm hoping that someone else has this card and can recommend a decoder and mux combo that will work.

Thanks.

Purevideo in WMP = fine, GBPVR... not so fine
Posted by: nbarsley - 2007-02-23, 07:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi,
I'm using the purevideo codecs to watch my mpeg2 recordings. When I run the recordings through wmp the video is a little dark but the video quality is really good. But when I try to watch videos though GBPVR I get a few different problems. When running VMR9 (and VMR9 Overlay) during any sort of panning or fast action a strong ghosting effect/ shuddering effect happens which makes it pretty unwatchable but the picture is high quality. With VMR7 the picture quality just doesnt look anything as good as it does in WMP. The wierd thing is that when watching videos in WMP the purevideo codec sys tray icon pops up and I can edit the settings but they dont actually change the way the video is displayed. In GBPVR they do change the way the video is being displayed. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get gbpvr video looking as clean as wmp? In GBPVR all I have installed for codec options is purevideo because I completely wiped my HD clean to start over from scratch.

  Native support for hauppauge HVR1300
Posted by: Millennium Herd - 2007-02-23, 07:17 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Hi Sub

Are you considering including the above card in your 'Supported Hardware' section? I purchased this card primarily for its hardware encoding capabilities, especially for digital DVB recording.

Incidentally, I have told GB-PVR that the installed TV card is an HVR-3000 (Everything appears to work). Does this mean that hardware encoding is used for recording please?

Cheers

Error message when viewing live tv
Posted by: Millennium Herd - 2007-02-23, 07:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi Sub

I have the following error message when trying to view live tv (I have an HVR1300 installed). 'Attempted to read or write protected memory'

Interstingly, I can usually view live tv once ok, but having exited, I consistently get the above error if I try to view live tv again! I think it may be linked to using the mouse. If I press 'Esc' to close the tv viewing window (Instead of clicking 'exit'), I can close and re-start live tv with no error!

GB-PVR has worked marvellously up until recently - could the problem be linked to a WinXP update?

Thanks for a great program - its lightyears ahead of WinTV 2000!

  0KB recordings
Posted by: newyankee - 2007-02-23, 06:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

GBPVR 99.5

For while now, I have been getting empty recordings when coming out of hibernation. I have experimented with different muxes, currently 5.0.1307 - no change in behaviour.

There appears to be a tuning error on first attempt but tuning seems ok on the second attempt. Signal readings are OK and not different from the other capture source.

Manual recordings work.

Any hints?

  Recording concurrent shows
Posted by: top_cat - 2007-02-23, 06:02 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I want to record two programs on the same channel straight after each other, is this possible?

The reason why I ask is because it say there is a 1min padding at the beginning of the recording and 2min padding at the end, will this mean the recording will overlap and cause a problem?

Thanks

  recording length only 30sec!
Posted by: top_cat - 2007-02-23, 06:01 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Forget the title please, I had it set to Microsoft DVR-MS in the config and it was only recording 30 seconds worth. I've now changed it to Cyberlink and it seems to be working.

However my new question is:

What is the best BDA multiplexer if I was high quality recordings?

The choices I see in GB-PVR are:
CyberLink
ATI MPEG Mux
InterVideo
SS
TS MUX

Also what is MultiDec plugin Support?

Thanks for your help

  Wake up not working
Posted by: Babnik - 2007-02-23, 03:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I'm having trouble getting the computer to wake up from sleep. This has worked before, and I'm sure it does work from time to time. I have downloaded the utility :

http://www.passmark.com/products/sleeper.htm

Which seems to imply everything is setup for wake up, and running sleeper, puts the pc to sleep, and it wakes up no problem 30 seconds later. GBPVR is having trouble to wake it up though...any ideas?

  Load Directshow .grf's in AVISynth!
Posted by: pBS - 2007-02-23, 11:35 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - No Replies

from one of the authors of avisynth...:
*****************************
DirectShowSource (DSS) creates 2 graphs, one for video and one for audio and uses AudoDub() to join them. We do this because we need the audio and video timing to be independant. A Directshow graph only has 1 clock source and 1 current position for all streams.

DSS works by adding our custom renderer for Video or Audio and calling RenderFile. This creates a default graph connected to our renderer. The Video renderer accepts Video streams of subtypes RGB24, RGB32, ARGB, YUY2 and YV12. The Audio renderer accepts Audio streams of subttypes PCM 8bit, 16bit, 24bit, 32bit and IEEE Floating point.

When Loading saved .GRF files you must set either Audio=False or Video=False to match the Video or Audio only graphs loaded respectivly. You have to do the AudioDub() manually. The .GRF file must have 1 only open pin that will directly offer one of the formats and subformats our renderer will accept. We do not negotiate for format converters to be added.
*****************************

EDIT: you have to create 2 graphs, 1 for audio,1 for video...probably not really usable for tuner capture..Sad

so for example:
you could create a graphedit graph with your capture card and save it, [all the way up to capture device raw output + filters[pre-compression/mux] but no output file filter] and make a .avs file with directshowsource inputting video, another DSS inputting audio, and a line AudioDub-ing them together, and open that with ffmpeg and encode and save to a mpeg file....

or possibly create a whole encoding graph, and just dump output with ffmpeg to file..creating a command line use of directshow filters..with piping ability no less...lol

not sure how sync would work, but that could be adjusted in .avs...

then a single ffmpeg line could capture a channel to mpeg from external recorder plugin...

i have a feeling the tuning won't happen tho, cuz even tho it saves channel in graph, graph usually won't actually change channel unless told to separately..Sad

just some interesting info i thought i'd share...Big Grin
