I know the MVP can't play high def content, but the nice thing about GB-PVR is that you can do on the fly transcoding of HD avi's to the MVP. It shows it in lower resolution of course, but it still works and it means I don't have to keep a lower-res transcoded copy of the video for MVP viewing.
Now I'm recording some stuff in HD mpg format though, and these videos fail when selecting it for viewing on the MVP, regardless of whether I record in MPG or .TS format. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I might transcode these real-time for viewing on the MVP, like AVI's are handled?
My pvr150 came with a Hauppauge MCE remote. I used it semi-happily for awhile, but was constantly annoyed with not having the color buttons, and issues I was having with hip...
So I bought Microsoft MCE remote version 1, as it is supposed to be natively supported (got it on ebay for <$10, because it didn't come with a beanbag. This was ok because I already have one).
Now I'm trying to make it work...
When I have HIP open, I can use all the VERY standard buttons, but not the channel buttons, color buttons, guide, livetv, etc... (this is the same limit my old remote had, except it didn't even have color buttons. I could fix all the other buttons on my old remote by re-mapping all the keys in hip after rebooting my computer. Haven't done this yet with this remote because I don't want to use hip at all).
When I turn HIP off, GBPVR doesn't respond at all...
Hi all,
Just got my TV tuner in tonight, a Dell Angel USB, to replace my old Happauge WinTV that died after 5+ years of service...
Did a lot of researching on PVR software, and gbpvr looks like it's by far the best! Only one bug I've been running into so far, and very reproducible.
If I view the TV, then <esc> out and go into the TV Guide and choose a show, then select watch, the infamous Protected Memory Error pops up and I have to restart before I can watch TV again. If I just go into Live TV from the start it stays happy.
I looked at the survival guide and installed the hotfix, to no avail. I am not running any of the programs that are referenced as causing problems. I use AVG for virus and ZoneAlarm Free for firewall, but shutting those down did not prevent the problem.

It is now an 'all in one' install and they don't list the versions of the apps/drivers that are included. Just wondering if anyone has seen/installed/played with the new setup and if there is anything new/better/different???
So w/ a core duo processor, do u finish a task twice as fast or are u able to do two task at the same time? I ask cuz i recently used lame to convert mp3's and seems like cpu was only 50-55% the entire time. Would I have been able to specify two directories for cpu to be 100%?
I have had a 550 pro tuner card for a year or so, but after I built a new computer it just did not want to play nice with my Nvidia based hardware. I then got a Leadtek 2000XP Expert, but to my surprise it does not have hardware encoding. I should have researched it more, but it seemed like a fairly nice card (oh well). I did get it to work via the software pluging, but the MVP does not recognize it as a tuner card. From what I have seen, cards that do not have hardware decoding are not going to be supported anytime soon by GBPVR. So....
....Moving right along, what cards are out there that are not based on an ATI chipset and have hardware encoding?
Hauppauge has some nice offerings but their cards seem somewhat overpriced for what you get. Though I have thier Media MVP; and overall it is a very nice unit.
I would like the card to cost less than $100. HDTV would be fun to play with, but I live in a somewhat rual area, probably would only pull in 5 HD stations so HD is not a priority.
I only have 2 PCI slots so the USB thumb drives are a nice looking option, but they seems to lack some of the features thier "boarded" couterparts offer. AKA FM radio, s-video input, video quality?, ect.
Vista certification, Media center certification; are they necessary?
you'll have to forgive me if this has been asked for before - how feasible would it be to add a play random/shuffle feature to the music library of the EWA?
I have added the feature to have ZProcess minimize to the tray and also hide all of the support windows... comskip, ffmpeg, hunter etc...
You have the ability to turn the 'Minimize to Tray' feature on and off from the Utility tab. If you check or uncheck the checkbox, you will be asked to restart ZProcess...
When Unchecked, ZProcess should behave exactly as it has to this point. Unchecked is the default...
When you have it Checked, and ZProcess is minimized, you will no longer see ZProcess, 'DOS' window for comskip, ffmpeg or mencoder etc, or Hunter. Instead you'll see the yellow lightening bolt in the System Tray.
If you Double-click the icon, ZProcess will be restored. The support windows will also be shown. If you Right-Click, you can either restore or exit ZProcess. If you choose to exit, upon closing, the support windows will be shown...
Although Hunter (shown or hidden) is designed to watch for orphan processes, there is a very rare circumstance where if ZProcess is killed from the Task Manager, the support windows may still continue to run. If you are concerned, check the task Manager, for the orphaned processes, and kill them.
I have not done a full release. I think that Version 926 seems pretty stable, and I don't want to confuse anyone...
The latest version of ZProcess with the new feature is 939 and is only available from this post...
If I am watching live TV and using another application, occationally a bunch of vertical lines freeze on the current image. The remaining lines continue showing live TV? Going out to the guide and returning fixes the problem, at least temporally.
I download the program and it seemed to install just fine. I tried to watch tv and it said you have to config folder and force it to use epg. i can't find no button for it. Is the program not installing all the way and is missing something. I hope someone can help me
