  GBPVR timed recording logic puzzle
Posted by: rscheller - 2007-01-30, 11:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (16)

GBPVR has four recording options as follows,

Record Once
Record Season (All episodes on this channel)
Record Season (All in this weekly timeslot, this channel)
Record Season (All in this daily timeslot, this channel)

I almost always use Record Season (All episodes on this channel). I've learned to use only this option because US broadcasters may also air extra new episodes of a show during a given week.

The problem with using Record Season (All episodes on this channel) with US broadcasters is they'll often replay multiple airings of a particular new episode of a TV show in a given week which leads to duplicate recordings.

Along with those broadcasting practice randomness, I typically record a show and watch it within the same week it was recorded and then immediately delete it to save on HDD space.

I don’t have any real suggestions to make this work any better, but I sure wish there was a way to more precisely eliminate the duplicates while still recording the random extra shows.

Someone want to solve the logic puzzle?

  Regarding EDLs
Posted by: dejunai - 2007-01-30, 10:42 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Regarding EDLs,
this is a very personal request as it can only affect me Smile

BUT, I run a Perl Script after the show completes recording, and after comskip
has finished that parses and comments the EDL file as such:

Code:
0 10.48 0 [00:00:00] -- [00:00:10] 594.34 745.18 0 [00:09:54] -- [00:12:25] 1082.11 1309.11 0 [00:18:02] -- [00:21:49] 1547.91 1683.65 0 [00:25:47] -- [00:28:03] 2409.21 2605.21 0 [00:40:09] -- [00:43:25] 2865.53 3001.33 0 [00:47:45] -- [00:50:01] 3396.89 3583 0 [00:56:36] -- [00:59:43] 3613.5 9999 0 [01:00:13] -- [02:46:39]

I can then use the EDL to manually finetune the actual edits.
Mencoder doesn't mind the comments....

Code:
Badly formatted EDL line [2], discarding. Badly formatted EDL line [4], discarding. Badly formatted EDL line [6], discarding. Badly formatted EDL line [8], discarding. Badly formatted EDL line [10], discarding. Badly formatted EDL line [12], discarding.

It would be REAL REAL NICE, if GB-PVR did the same thing... Big Grin
Cause right now, if the EDL exists and has any "Badly formatted EDL lines"
GB-PVR balks completely and silently refuses to play the show. Sad

Anyway, Thanks for reading the request...

zap2it guide reads right GBPVR not picking up the Title for recording
Posted by: divinehammer - 2007-01-30, 09:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

I was trying to set a record once option for American idol coming on tonight so this morning I went into the tv guide (actually also tried last night a couple of times) anyway in the tvguide I found the correct time and it said america IDOl. If I selected it and did a normal record I selected High record once and 3 min and 3 min. and hit OK. All the information in those screens looked correct but when I went into the pending recordings screen it showed that I was recording Crocodile hunter at the time and same channel of IDOL??? weird so I deleted and did a quick record and all the information saved just right. I was able to repeat this several times because i wanted High Quality. Now I tried this afternoon and removed croc hunter and added it all in over again and it worked as suspected. Now my Zap2it update was at 5 am I tried this morning at 7am and it finally worked around 1pm. So what was the cause of this?
I also ran into another issue in the guide where quick record would work but if I tried to setup a season recording or same timeslot weekly it would not let me do it on like CSI but going to another channel same time and it would let me set this type of recording for a different show. Is my Zap2it getting corrupted or something? thanks for the help.

  ubustream recording
Posted by: frailn - 2007-01-30, 09:31 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

Just ordered my TV Tuner card and will be trying out GB-PVR soon. I'm wondering if ubustream or some other plugin will allow for recording streaming web video?

I currently stream internet video from a ministry school where my kids attend. The codec is Windows Media 9 - 200kps Video. Here is the link

http://206.55.127.195/200k-PR-Q4

I plan on using GB-PVR for cable tv as well as this internet video stream - it would be nice to be be able to record the web video stream in addition to recording TV shows.

  Using PVR-150 for two sources
Posted by: jburnette - 2007-01-30, 07:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I've searched the forums and haven't really been able to find an answer to this question. I have DirecTV. The sat box is hooked up to the composite input on my PVR-150. This, obviously, means that I can only record/watch one program at a time. However, I can receive my local channels over the air with an antennae. Is it possible for me to record/watch one program coming from the composite input (the directv box) and record/watch another program coming off of the antennae hooked into the PVR-150? It would only require tuning of one program (the over-the-air content) as the other program would be actually tuned by the directv box. This seems possible to me, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it done. Am I wrong?

Question regarding connecting PVR1600 to satellite...
Posted by: Puzzle - 2007-01-30, 07:32 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (40)

Here's the deal, I just bought a Hauppauge HVR1600 and installed it. Followed all the instructions contained within the box, then updated the drivers found on the website.

I have a coax cable connecting my Satellite Receiver to the back of the PVR card. I have the IR Blaster setting over the IR receiver of the satellite, testing this allows me to shut off and turn the receiver on through the IR Blaster Config...which should allow WinTV or GB-PVR to change channels on the receiver itself in order to record what I want, correct?

After installation I decided to try out WinTV2000 to see if everything is working properly, which is where I run into the problems.

I can be on channel 3 on WinTV...but my satellite stays on the same channel, let's say channel 123. So I try going to another channel through WinTV, but it stays the same.

I'm a complete n00b at this so please help if you can. Maybe I have my satellite hooked up wrong or something, I'm not sure. Can someone provide an image of how everything should be connected? I've followed the GB-PVR config guide in the Wiki after I had installed GB-PVR, but that's not helping either.

What's the use of having this set up if I still have to manually change my satellite channels to the correct channel in order to record?

PC locks when viewing recordings in progress
Posted by: rdaleypa - 2007-01-30, 06:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I'm not sure if this has been covered. I have been using GBPVR for about a month and it works great.

The only problem that I have been having is that the system sometimes locks when I am watching a recording while it is in the process of recording. For example, I am recording "Heroes" which was on last night at 9. At 9:15, I begin watching the recording (while it is still recording the show). It works fine (continues to record as I watch what it has already recorded) but then while fast forwarding through a set of commercials by pressing the 1 minute forward button on my remote, the entire system freezes.

Am I simply asking too much of the software or is there a way to resolve the problem?

Here are my system specs:

Hauppauge PVR-150MCE
Windows XP
Celeron 2.9 Ghz
80 Gb Hard Drive
1 Gb memory
GBPVR

Reminders not colored in TV Guide
Posted by: Ted the Penguin - 2007-01-30, 05:11 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (4)

ok so I was trying to update Sassari red to color the reminders in the TV Guide. and they are still transparent.

I added the namedcolors and indicator. the indicator is fine but the guide doesnt get colored. in the blue skin it gets colored, but not sassari, nothing in the logs about it either. but if sub wants they can be posted. I will post the tags I added

Code:
<NamedColor name="ReminderListing" color="#33FF77"/> <NamedColor name="SelectedReminderListing" color="Vertical:#AA2222-Transparent"/> <CompositeImage name="StatusReminderIndicator" size="22,22"> <DrawImage filename="..\_res\bullet_green.png" size="18,18" loc="1,1"/> </CompositeImage>

any thoughts? sub? fatman_do?

  Composite Source Setting Help
Posted by: alpine1 - 2007-01-30, 05:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I need to make a connection from a VCR to the PVR150 composite input. What should the settings be for a source without EPG and Channel Changing? The Add button is never enabled.
