Went to dual tuner cards, a PVR 350 and PVR 150mce, so I could watch a program while recording another, and maybe get PIP. I quickly found out that that the Hauppauge ir.exe would no longer load, and so the remote was useless. There is a fix however, you can find it here: http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/archive...-2579.html
My version of the batch file ended up looking like this:
*************************
@call devcon disable PCI\VEN_4444*DEV_0016*SUBSYS_88010070*REV_01*
@start f:\progra~1\wintv\ir.exe /quiet
@cls
@echo .
@echo The ping you see scrolling below is simply a wait designed to give IR
@echo ..
@echo a chance to start and verify it can work.
rem @pause
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 10 -w 1000
@cls
@echo thank you
@devcon enable PCI\VEN_4444*DEV_0016*SUBSYS_88010070*REV_01*
start f:\progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvrtray.exe
************************
It DOES get ir.exe working again, however a message box pops up when ir.exe loads. Haven't figured out how to supress that yet. The /quiet switch has no effect.
Maybe someone could add this to the wiki, I haven't had time to figure out how contribute to it yet.

So, I spent a fair amount of time this weekend trying to figure out why my system locks up at the XP Desktop (freezes solid) when I'd exit the WinTV2000 application. It also happened in GBPVR but I was able to reproduce the problem with WinTV2K so I knew it wasn't this app.
Summary: I had to disable APIC (NOT ACPI) in the system BIOS and reinstall (Clean) windows.
Details:
I had upgraded my setup from an Nforce2 board w/ a Nvidia Ti4200 AGP card to an ECS Nforce3-a s754 Athlon 64 3000 w/ ATI x1600 AGP card. I had a clean installed and went through various recommended configs such as:
Drivers (Used various combinations of
Chipset 5.10, 5.11 (and some older) vs XP Native
video (ATI Drivers and Omega Drivers, new and old)
hauppauge drivers (Tried older and latest versions)
Realtek Audio Drivers and alternative Sound Card [This actually made a slight difference... swapping in a SB Live! value I had lying around helped delay the lockup on exiting winTV, but it still locked up.
System Timings (no overclocks, etc)
Swapped out video hardware thinking maybe it was an ATI/Nvidia issue
Tried using DIB DRAW mode instead of OVERLAY mode
In the end NONE of that worked, even after various 'clean' installs. No matter what I tried, every time I ended the WinTV2000 application, about 3-4seconds later it would hard lock / freeze the desktop and a hard-boot was required.
I searched and could not find any direct hits on this problem, and I didn't have any other S754 boards to test if I have a faulty mainboard or a chipset issue... and I was already on the latest bios.
Eventually I did find hit on that some folks had problems with the Advanced Prog. Interrupt Controller (APIC) in Linux and other apps. As I'd tried (seemingly) everything else, I disabled APIC in the bios, reinstalled XP again, and this time all works well.
Note: Disabling APIC reduces the number of IRQ's available to 15, so I now have a a few devices sharing IRQ's (whereas before with APIC enabled they all had unique values). In theory they should get along either way. With APIC disabled I found one side affect in that I can't use the NVIDIA SW IDE Drivers. With it enabled they worked fine (except for a 30 second delay before the XP logo starting windows...).
Sorry for the long post but on the off chance that somebody else runs into freeze / hang / lockup problems w/ PVR150 hardware and Nvidia NFORCE3, perhaps the above will be of assistance. And, if anyone else has any other ways of working around this issue (short of replacing the motherboard--which may still happen), please share!

Hey guys, I have a Dish Network 6.0 remote control that I can't get to work right. The remote is a multi-function remote that can control a TV, VCR, DVR, ... My IR detector has no problem learning/receiving the codes from the TV output from the remote but I can't get the DVR (actually the dish network satellite box) portion of the code to be learned by the IR receiver. I would have to imagine that the IR sender on the remote is compatible with my IR receiver since it was able to learn the TV portion. Anybody have any thoughts on the remote? Anyone have any luck with this specific remote?
Hey guys, I've tried to do some searching but without much luck. When I installed GBPVR and pulled upt he web scheduling interface it looked like it does in the screenshots. Within a week the interface lost all the nice formating and colors like below. Anyone know what I might have done to it? It doesn't seem like a security issue or browser setting but I'm not sure.
How do I see when a manual recording in TVGuide are scheduled? I can only see a red zone where it let me know that something are reserved/scheduled to record, but not what and for how long time in web interface and in standard view of GBPVR. It would be easier if it could show manual recording somewhere in the same page or view so I know that it is that the red zone symbolize. I don't want to toggle back and forth to look up pending recordings all the time to be sure that it will correct record shows on schedule.
Is there a setting or a file that I have correct to get this to work?

The selection of DVB-C cards is rather small and expensive, and no dual-tuner cards are AFAIK currently available.
So before I go and set up a DVB-T solution to make good digital recordings of my main channels (only four of the thirtysomething channels I have via Cable are FTA-DVB-T), I just want to know if there are any new DVB-C cards on the horizon that one should be aware of before buying and mounting antennas, DVB-T card etc.
I just thought I'd share this in case anyone wants to use it.
Over the course of time I had many hundreds of .edl files (from ShowAnalyzer or Comskip) and some .txt files for which the .mpg records had long ago been deleted. As well, there were hundreds of <ShowName> folders in the
\Recordings folder which were empty of files except for the leftover .edl files.
So I wrote a small Windows Powershell script to delete all such files for which there isn't a similarly-named .mpg file, and then delete all the subsequently empty folders. (If you haven't tried it, Powershell is free from Microsoft and HUGELY better than DOS batch.) Then I set up a Windows scheduled task to automatically run Powershell, invoked with the script, once a month in the middle of the night.
#function to change the extension of a path&file name
function ChangeExt {
param([string] $file, [string] $OldExt, [string] $NewExt)
return [Regex]::Replace($file, $OldExt+"$", $NewExt, [System.Text.RegularExpressions.RegexOptions]::IgnoreCase)
}
# remove all files (except Folder.jpg) for which there isn't a similarly-named .mpg file
dir $Files -Exclude *.mpg, Folder.mpg | where {-not (Test-Path (ChangeExt $_.FullName $_.Extension ".mpg")) } | Remove-Item
#Find and delete all empty \Recordings\<ShowName> directories
dir $Folders | where {$_.PSIsContainer} | where {-not (test-path ($_.FullName+"\*"))} | Remove-Item[/COLOR][/SIZE]
Ok, I admit I can get like an old dog sometimes, and turn a blind eye to new stuff. But it's time I know something about this new fangled HD stuff...
Well, I get most of it, except where it comes to capture cards...
In the last year, I learned that some cards need to have a software capture interface (BDA Multiplexer) to record video. I assumed that it was because that type of interface wasn't on the card like the Hauppauge PVR 150 cards...
At least I thought that a 150 could record a MPG natively... And I think that MPG stream is a Program Stream...
Anyway, the part I'm foggy on is: are all HD cards unable to capture video like the 150 does?
And what the heck is a Transport Stream?
Why can't they just make HD cards like the way the make SD cards?
Is anyone using gb-pvr in combination with Poorman's cam.
Ik am trying this at the moment, and seems to run fine. The only thing which is bothering me is that there is a crash when exiting gb-pvr. Somehow there has to be send an exit command to the poorman's cam. Anyone figured this out yet?
MD plugins seem to work really good.
When it is not approved to talk of this MD plugin please say so.
