I searched the forum and found several attampts to solve the problem of disks running full. However there was none which would transcode files when the disk nearly full, so I made a little batch file. Please comment on it.
Code:
rem video directory
set video="V:\video"
rem diskspace to keep free in MB
set free=25
rem create transcode queue
c:
cd "\program files\devnz\gbpvr"
del oldfile.txt
for /f "tokens=3 delims=><" %%G IN ('findstr /C:.mpg recording-dump.xml') do echo %%G >> oldfile.txt
:start
rem check diskspace
for /f "tokens=3 delims=., " %%G IN ('dir %video%') do set /a a=%%G
if %a% LSS %free% (goto transcode) else (goto eof)
:transcode
rem put first line in oldfile variable
set /p oldfile=<oldfile.txt
start /low /wait transcode.bat "%oldfile%"
rem move queue up one line
findstr /V /C:"%oldfile%" oldfile.txt > oldfile2.txt
del oldfile.txt
ren oldfile2.txt oldfile.txt
goto start
:eof
The two variables set the recordings directory (actually the recordings drive is sufficient) and the amount of megabytes to keep free on the disk.
The the script takes advantage of the fact that SUB has all recordings nicely in chronological order in the recording-dump.xml to make the transcode queue
The queue will run as long as the drivespace is below the set minimum.
The script takes an external batch file to transcode the mpg. Put here whatever you like. Make sure the transcode batch file deletes the mpg otherwise there will be no disk space freed up!!
I run the script as postprocessing.bat so after every recording the disk space is checked. You can also run it as pustepgupdate.bat which will run the transcoding at night.
I saw in the plugin description for comskip that it was incorporated in the latest build of the GBPVR, I don't see it in the gbpvr folder. Do I still have to download the plugin and put it in the gbpvr directory and is the latest comskip usuable with the latest gbpvr build?
Being that I have very very little programming experience, I wanted to ask before I try to dive into this. Would there be anyway to program a plugin that would use the TVU Player (http://www.tvunetworks.com/index.htm)?
I use this to watch football games that are out of my market. I would rather use GBPVR to stream this to my MVP, but I am not sure if that is even possible.
I have just bought the ATI 650 PRO. It is an amazing HD card (I am 12 miles from 6 HD broadcast towers) using the native software from ATI. I want it to function on my GBPVR, and although in config it shows the card, it just isn't working. Any ideas? It looks like it may be only looking at the analog side of the card, and maybe not seeing the digital tuner?
Any tip should would be
ok, In my previous version, I was able to set up my channels so I can get to the "input" channel, since my tv tuner has the red/white/yellow connections. but it seems after this upgrade It deleted all of my settings, and I dont recall how I added the channel, it was soemthing i did a long time ago, does anyone remember how to add the "input" channel to my channel list?
So, I'm using overlay out now, was always using the 350's coax out before. It looks great, recordings play great.
Still in 96.12, I noticed an issue where liveTV would work fine initially via overlay, but after changing channels I'll have audio sync issues.
I have tried setting the liveTV buffer to almost nothing and to almost one and a half seconds with no change. the liveTV buffer drive is the boot drive and separate from any drives where recordings are saved.
Pressing Pause to put the thing into timeshift mode and all is well. Same with simply exiting liveTV and then returning to watch liveTV on the same channel.
This also occurs in 97.13 and 98.08. I had to take 98.08 off as some plugin I was adding really mangled it (I did the migration twice then gave up for a while), but I'll have time today to sit down and get a basic install going.
Thoughts? Other things to test? Unfortunately I also upgraded all the NVidia chipset and card drivers, and RealTEK audio drivers, as part of getting the overlay going- so I have changed a lot on the system.
Is there any issue with running an external USB tuner (adaptec dual 3610) for gbpvr? Would being on the USB bus be "slower" or pehaps cause stuttering rather than on the PCI bus?
