I just received and installed a PVR500 along with my already installed PVR150. I have my PVR150 as the first capture device and the PVR500 as my second and third capture device. I also have the svideo input of the 150 configured as a capture device for my digital cable STB. Now the way I understand how GBPVR uses the capture devices, it just starts at the top of the list and works its way down until 1 is free. If I have the s video input as part of the first card, that tuner will be the first one to be taken during any recording which will not allow the s video input to be free. What would be the best way to have gbpvr select the input card that has the s video as the last possible choice? Would it be easier to move the s-video cable to the 500 (and which s video input would be the tuner #2, the one on the main card, or the extension set?) or can I reorder the capture devices to the 150 is at the bottom? or what about splitting the s video signal to each of the cards and setting the channel listing the same so gbpvr can select whichever one is free?
I hope my description wasn't too confusing. Thanks.
Having dug for a while to figure out how to get rid of the letterbox for widescreen movies on my 16:9 widescreen tv. I was all over the wiki and the forums looking at all of the items on aspect ratio, and eventually found this post where TvShape was mentioned. Once I set that - all of the movies and standard TV were suddenly the right way on auto select and there's no need to switch aspects via F7 (or the mapped button on the remote).
Shouldn't this be either:
A) Auto-detected by the config tool and set appropriately (when possible), especially for DVI/HDMI connections where this isn't the TV out.
or
B) A little pull down box in the config app right next to windowed/fullscreen?
Note that the post linked above is the only place in either the forum or wiki where this essential setting is mentioned.
Anyone have the oneforall code that will work with the MVP? I just tried this and it didn't work. I have the blue glowing original one with the 6 functions, and I want to have the MVP on as the video function!
Cheers!
Quote:Dear Mr. Powell,
Thank you for your e mail.
Although I have not been able to find a match for the model number you
mention, I recommend you try the codes Vid.Acc1408 and VCR1992. However, as
the necessary software is not in the memory of your One for All handset,
this can not be set up straight away and needs to be downloaded first.
Therefore, please call the Customer Services Helpline on 0808 1000 306 and
ask for the download of the codes mentioned above. If you have had any codes
downloaded into your One For All before, please make sure to mention this as
well. Please note that it is preferable to call us from a cord-connected,
landline telephone for best results. The upgrade has a limited success with
a mobile or a cordless phone. We are open Monday to Friday 9.00a.m. to
7.00p.m. and Saturday 9.00am. to 3.00p.m (UK time).
is there a way to add videos to the ready folder in Xrecord and have them show up in the list of videos? I have some videos I'd like to add to the ready section but when I move them on the Hard drive into the recordings folder they won't show up in the ready section of Xrecord.....??
What is the baset way to move GBPVR to another machine? I have a much faster machine available now.
I assume the appropriate things to do are:
0. backup critical files! ;-)
1. shut down all GBPVR related services.
2. uninstall PVR hardware
3. install PVR hardware (and drivers) on new machine
4. copy or move video DATA files to new machine (into hopefully identical directory structure)
5. install GBPVR on new machine
6. copy GBPVR config.xml to new machine
7. copy GBPVR database to new machine
Am I missing anything major? Will this preserve the index of GBPVR recordings and keep my scheduled recordings intact?
Thanks for any input ASAP! Trying to accomplish this tonight.
Ehhm... what's happened on http://www.gbpvr.com? Suddenly my IE displays on every page a hint like this:
This website wants to run the following add-on: 'QuickTimeCheck Scriptable Object' from 'Apple Computer, Inc. (unverified Publisher)'.If you trust the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here ...
I have been using GBPVR for almost 6 months now and love it.
I'm using a Compro T300 tuner card and am very happy with it.
Last week I decided to take the experience to the next level and acquired a second Compro T300 card.
The problem is when I insert the second tuner card the first stops working, neither of them work in gbpvr, they will not detect any channels.
They both work together with the Compro software.
When I remove either one the other works perfectly and will detect all available channels.
They are on different IRQ's and the old working drivers (Version 1.3.1.24) are installed on both tuner cards
I just saw the press release that Microsoft will be opening up X360 game development to the public. I wonder if this will open up the X360 to a legit GB-PVR client.
Quote:SEATTLE -- Aug. 13, 2006 -- In the 30 years of video game development, the art of making console games has been reserved for those with big projects, big budgets and the backing of big game labels. Now Microsoft Corp. is bringing this art to the masses with a revolutionary new set of tools, called XNA Game Studio Express, based on the XNA platform. XNA Game Studio Express will democratize game development by delivering the necessary tools to hobbyists, students, indie developers and studios alike to help them bring their creative game ideas to life while nurturing game development talent, collaboration and sharing that will benefit the entire industry.
During his keynote presentation today at Gamefest 2006, a Microsoft game developer event hosted by Microsoft in Seattle, Chris Satchell, general manager of the Game Developer Group at Microsoft, announced details of the new technology, which will be broadly available this holiday season. XNA Game Studio Express will be available for free to anyone with a Windows XP-based PC and will provide them with Microsoft's next-generation platform for game development. By joining a "creators club" for an annual subscription fee of $99 (U.S.), users will be able to build, test and share their games on Xbox 360 and access a wealth of materials to help speed the game development progress. This represents the first significant opportunity for novice developers to make a console game without a significant investment in resources.
During his keynote, Satchell talked about academic institutions that are lining up to include XNA Game Studio Express in their course offerings. Also showcased was the work of key XNA supporters Autodesk Inc. and GarageGames. Through the Microsoft XNA relationship with Autodesk, the leading provider of 3-D authoring software, game developers and enthusiasts can now more easily incorporate content into XNA Game Studio Express via Autodesk's FBX file exchange format. Joining Satchell on stage was Mark Frohnmayer, president of GarageGames, who showcased ports of its next-generation Torque tools and technology over to the XNA Game Studio Express platform.
* XNA Game Studio Express Opens Up Game Creation to the World
By providing an integrated, seamless development environment based on Visual Studio Express and .NET that simplifies the integration and use of game content, XNA Game Studio Express makes game development easier to accomplish for smaller projects, strongly increasing the chance for great game ideas to make it out of the concept stage and into the hands of gamers everywhere.
The XNA Game Studio Express beta will be available Aug. 30, 2006, as a free download on Windows XP, for development on the Windows XP platform. XNA Game Studio Express will give anyone with a Windows XP-based PC access to a unified development tool that liberates the creation of great Xbox 360 and Windows XP-compatible games, providing a new alternative to the existing multithousand-dollar development kits that many console games require. The final version of XNA Game Studio Express will be available this holiday season.
"XNA Game Studio Express will ignite innovation and accelerate prototyping, forever changing the way games are developed," Satchell said. "By unlocking retail Xbox 360 consoles for community-created games, we are ushering in a new era of cross-platform games based on the XNA platform. We are looking forward to the day when all the resulting talent-sharing and creativity transforms into a thriving community of user-created games on Xbox 360."
Not only will XNA Game Studio Express turn the community into creators, but a second XNA toolset geared toward game development professionals is scheduled to be available in spring 2007, fundamentally changing the way commercial games are developed.
* The Beginning of the Game Developer Revolution
From students at colleges, universities and high schools of the future to the proverbial "guys in the garage," Microsoft XNA Game Studio Express will liberate anyone with a great game idea to create titles for Xbox 360 and Windows XP simultaneously. More than 10 universities and their game development schools -- including University of Southern California, Georgia Tech College of Computing and Southern Methodist University Guildhall -- have already pledged to integrate console game development and XNA Game Studio Express into their curricula for the first time, and Xbox 360 will be the only console at the center of all coursework.
"Great game ideas are incubating in the minds of students everywhere," said Michael Zyda, director for Gamepipe Labs at the University of Southern California. "With XNA Game Studio Express, Microsoft is investing in these next-generation innovators, creating the canvas for dreamers to express their powerful game ideas. In incorporating XNA Game Studio Express and Xbox 360 consoles into our Gamepipe program, USC will be able to better provide game studios and publishers around the world with a newfound wellspring of talent and opportunity. It's ingenious."
In addition, GarageGames, technology provider and developer of one of the most successful Xbox Live Arcade titles, "Marble Blast Ultra," has migrated both its Torque Shader Engine and new Torque Game Builder 2-D visual game designer over to the XNA Game Studio Express platform.
"The GarageGames mission has always been to provide top-tier technology, tools and community to independent and aspiring game developers," said Josh Williams, CEO of GarageGames. "We are excited that Microsoft is demonstrating leadership by taking the revolutionary step of opening up game development for Xbox 360 to hobbyists and students. In aligning our tools and technology with XNA Game Studio Express, we're helping even more individuals with the creativity and drive to make video games bring them to life on both Windows XP and Xbox 360."
It looks like it won't be doable out of the box, but maybe later on.
Quote:Q: Can I create non-gaming applications (such as a Media Center/Player) with XNA Game Studio Express?
A: On Windows this is possible, but the initial release on Xbox 360 is tuned to writing games. This is an area we are actively looking to the community for feedback on the types of applications they want to write for their Xbox 360.
But the deal kicker looks to be that it runs on C# and .NET.
Common Images Plugins Skins & Community Skin Project
The defining of a new Common Image Based Skin that is intended to replace the BlueMCE2 Image Set, will benifit all Plugin Developers and Skin Designers. The plugin skins will be portable by drag and drop the plugin skin into any full skin.
We ask Sub and all Plugin developers to have a look at the CommonImage naming suggestion and reconsider if it could be an alternative to Blue and BlueMCE2 image naming.
The suggegstions work is based on BlueMCE2 images and s documented here:
Fatman_do, McBainUK and Mixman are the ones that has been active in defining the Image Names, Skin creating and McBainUK made a Appearance Theme Manager Plugin.
CommonImages Skin Objectives
The idea with the BlueMCE2 cleanup and CommonImages skin project from my side is to:
1. Create a new CommonImage skin that is compatible with the BlueMCE2 skins that the plugin developer makes.
2. Create naming naming and design rules for coherent plugin skin looks.
3. Have the plugin developers to abandon BlueMCE2 skin for CommonImages skin.
4. Create CommonImage plugin skin files so that all skin developers can use them by "drag and drop" the skin files into their skins.
5. Make it possible for an end user to just drop a plugin skin file into an image based skin. Just like it is possible with Blue today.
6. Have Sub support the CommonImage naming in a new Image based skin, by having a _CommonImages folder and including some images into the Blue skin
7. Have the Community to create images for a new "Default" skin that Sub ships with his GBPVR installation.
8. The plugin skins should be "out of the box" compatible with any skin, from plugin developer directly to the end user, without any involvemnent from a skinner.
Just like the Blue plugin skins.
Ok, I want to make GBPVR start in my second monitor so when I start up windows, GBPVR will automatically starts up there. I've checked the box in config...but it still starts in my primary monitor.
Also...after I reboot the PC, I get no sound in GBPVR. If I run hauppauge's wintv, then close it...I get sound in GBPVR. Any ideas????
I'm using winXP pro sp2, hauppauge pvr usb2, and GBPVR v0.97.13.
