I recently decided to make a DVR out of one of my old computers (AMD 2.4Ghz 1GB DDR), and I found an ATI All-In-Wonder 8500DV TV tuner card lying around my house. Reading some reviews on the card, they mostly agree that setup is a bitch, but the results are good.
Does anyone have any experience with this card? I'm going to try it out of course, since it is free and I have the spare time to waste right now. Any hints on making the setup go easier, or special ways of configuring the card or GB-PVR to get the best picture etc would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if anyone has had bad experience with this card, which card would you recommend I buy instead?
I am currently running comskip from my postprocessing.bat file which also calls comclean. It is doing a good job finding all the commercials, and consaquently, comclean is cutting just as comskip tells it to.
Alas, it seems comksip is also cutting small portions of the show that was recorded. Is there any way to "tune" comskip at all? I can deal with a snippet of commercial here and there if I can get it to leave the entire show. At most I miss 15-45 seconds of a show. That's not huge in most cases, but it is for a show like "Lost".
Thanks!
I hope this hasn't been posted before, but I can't search for +1 on the forum as it's not a long enough search term.
I emailed Andrew Flegg about adding TMF and E4+1 and other +1 channels to his bleb (UK) guide. He said he's looking into TMF but the easiest way to add +1 channels is for you, the authors, to "add a post-processing step for +1 channels". I don't know what this means, but I hope it's something that can be added.
Many thanks for, now that i've got it working, an absolutely fantastic bit of software.
newbie here with an IR problem. i got the adaptec 3610 dual tuner bundled with my hp 8000 laptop. works just fine with window MCE (though i havent loaded GBPVR on the laptop)running microsoft media center. However i have another machine which is XP 2 and cannot get the IR to respond whatsoever. I loaded an IR from HIP which is supposed to work with MCE remotes ( mine is the updated remote) and the IR blaster, however it lists the IR blaster in the device manager (usb profiles) as MCE ir not EHOME ( which is whats listed with the MCE laptop). So i copied the driver from my lapto (the mce computer) and tried to change the driver of the IR in my xp2 system. The OS didnt recognize the driver at all. any suggestions? the IR blaster is plugged directly into the adaptec 3610. Thanks !
hey Sub, was wondering if you had the rest of the post-message key mappings?
am setting up hip to post all messages straight to GBPVR so it will work without having focus...so far so good but the gbpvr.hpg file only includes some of the post message codes:
notably missing are TV,Guide,Videos,Menu,previous-ch,etc...
[edit: found that home=menu,escape=back]
any idea if these are available? the only post i found didn't really give details...[was more about irremote.ini]
other than the missing keys,it works great without focus so far with hip..
Thanx
I am trying to do a clean install on a Windows 2000 box. I am using a Hauppauge PVR-150 card that appears to load and function fine. I loaded Microsofts .Net v2.0 with no errors. GBPVR v.97.13 loads with no errors but when the config screen opens I get a .Net error (attached). All of the boxes in GBPVR are empy and if I try to add my 150 card I get the .Net error again. I tested the PVR-150 on an XP box but want to have the actual setup on a spare Windows 2000 box I have. The .Net error message and the GBPVR log files are attaches.
I have two boxes that use GB-PVR, and I am having problems with video playback on one. The main box (box A) hosts the video and music file and runs fine. The other box (box B) it takes 1-2 minutes for a movie to fire up and when it does it is very slow and choppy. Videos play fine in media player. Box B connects to box A via a mapped network drive to pull video & music libraries. This configuration did run great before 0.97. Box B is strictly for video playback only and the only software on it is ATI RW driver, K-Lite codec pack 235f, Cyberlink Powerdvd v6, GB-PVR, and WINXP w/ all updates.
