Funny thing happened last night. I was watching live TV on the MVP and I got an 'object reference not set an instance of an object' message. As it was late I shut down the MVP and went to sleep.
However a scheduled recording of JAG for 12am 26/05/06 didn't record and a series of error messages appeared. I didn't check the machine until nearly 18.5 hours later so quite a few error messages had built up on screen.
I have attached some log files and windows error messages, just in case they can help.
I rebooted and things seem fine again however there maybe something in the files that may indicate a problem I should look into.
I've seen this come up from time to time, so I thought I'd share my batch file mods.
Adding these commands will allow you to have a PostProcessing.bat, and still use comskip "real-time" in ParallelProcessing.bat.
PostProcessing will remain idol, until parallel processing has finished.
I’ve also included two versions of my PostUpdateEPG.bat,
I compact my gbpvr.mdb every evening (after the EPG update) using gbpvr_compact.exe.
Using “all” the included batch file mods, GBPVRRecordingService will only be restarted (and gbpvr.mdb compacted) if nothing is being recorded or post-processed.
ParallelProcessing.bat
Code:
C:
cd "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr"
echo %2 >"%~n1.REC"
echo %2 >"%~n1.PaP.REC"
REM *** The lines above are the first lines in ParallelProcessing.bat ***
REM *** Channels W/O Commercials ****
REM if "%2" == "13" goto end:
REM if "%2" == "14" goto end:
comskip %1
REM *** The lines below are the last lines in ParallelProcessing.bat ***
:end
del "%~n1.REC"
PostProcessing.bat
Code:
C:
cd "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr"
echo %2 >"%~n1.PoP.REC"
DEL "%~n1.PaP.REC"
:start
Timeout.exe 5
IF EXIST "%~n1.REC" goto start:

UpdateEPG.bat
Code:
C:
cd "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr"
del "C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\*.REC"

PostUpdateEPG.bat (compact after every EPG update)
Code:
C:
cd "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr"
TimeOut 3600
:start
Timeout 60
if exist "*.REC" goto start:
gbpvr_Compact.exe >Compact.log
PostUpdateEPG.bat (compact only if nothing is being recorded or processed)
Code:
C:
cd "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr"
TimeOut 3600
if not exist "*.REC" gbpvr_Compact.exe >Compact.log
does anyone have any idea why every time my EPG updates, the channels which I've removed (via config) show up again? This happens every time my EPG updates.
I have always upgraded my system rather than do a clean install and over time I have also tried out most of the plugins available.
I want to try and clean up my system and wish to know if any of the many files I now have in my PlugIns directory are part of the core system or can I safely remove them all?
Just curious - everyone always seems to have NO issue at all testing that their connectivity and MVP hardware is working by doing a dry run with the included Hauppauge software.
Then, many people seems to often have lots of problems trying to go to the next step with the GBPVR software. What's the difference?
I know the DHCP server isn't included with GBPVR - though I don't know how much of an issue that is it does always seem to confuse the newbies quite a bit - we see those comments coming up constantly.
I know the GBPVR software is much more advanced than the Haup sw, is that part of what is going on?
When my PC is restarting from hibernation, I lose my connection to my second hdd, which is what gbpvr records to ! I get the message on the taskbar 'Windows - Delayed Write failure' and then a parapgraph about how info could not be written to the mft....
The 2 hdd are on the same controller, I'm running XP and have removed disk caching, but this didn't do anything.
