I've done some searching on the forum and can't seem to find a thread regarding my particular problem. I have very good replay of TV recordings on my TV, but the GBPVR menu is fuzzy and not very crisp like I would expect. I probably have some settings to tweak, but not sure where to start. Here is my config:
GBPVR 97.7
Using the standard Blue Skin
VMR9 set
Video card is a Pny Technologies FX5500 with latest drivers
Using the S-Video out to my TV, no converters in between
I have the card configured to Dual mode and cloned to my Monitor
I've tried 640x480 720x480 and 800x600 at 60Hz resolutions, same issue.
Again, the replaying recorded shows is very good, almost like live non-PVR tv, but the menu is too fuzzy.
Has anyone successfully configured there mvp to work with a Hauppauge - Win-TV NOVA-T - TV Card as it is not one you can select on the drop down config menu, any adive appreciated.
I'm writing this up just incase anyone else suffers this problem, I couldn't find it in a search on the boards so here it is. It was a couple of days hair pulling excercise to work out what was wrong, and if I can save anyone else the experience, it'll be worth it.
I had a nicely setup system, running an older processor, but still enough, and a good sized chunk of RAM. The hard disk I was using for recordings was an older, but still seviceable (until I can get hold of a better one), 40GB PATA disk.
After a few days of testing, I found that my recordings were stuttering badly on playback. Recordings that previously were ok also started doing it. Playback in GBPVR and Windows Media were the same awful stutter.
Anyways, after lots of GB-PVR reinstall attempts and general fiddling, heres what I found;
Windows XP apparently has a "feature", where if it detects six access attempt failures on a IDE channel *ever in the lifespan of the disk*, it falls back to a lower transfer mode. ie. UDMA 5 falls back to UDMA 4 etc, all the way back down to PIO mode. For some reason, my disk had managed to fall all the way back to PIO mode, hence the awful playback, due to the low transfer rate.
If you check your "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" under device manager, you can see what mode each channel is currently in.
The really nice part of this *feature* though is that you cannot manually set it back up to UDMA without REINSTALLING THE DISK. :mad:
On that page there is also a registy hack that prevents this mode from occuring, by resetting the counter as soon as it sees a sucessful transfer. After applying this reg hack I have not seen this problem again.
The other day I was trying to enable GBPVR for network without much success, but I backed up the files and replaced them back (the config.xml and gbpvr.mdb)
Anyway, when I checked yesterday, all of my recordings went missing (except newly recorded ones) yet they are still in my C:\Recordings directory, and all my other newly recorded shows are also going in C:\Recordings, does anyone know how to get all my shows listed again?
ive been trying to setup gb-pvr with my mvp for the last few days and i am realy struggling with the dhcp server,i have downloaded tftpd32 but am not sure how to set up correctly as have never used a dhcp server before, can anyone explain in simple terms so i can get everything up and running. its driving me mad, would appreciate any help
My husband, the computer guru of the household, has left the country, and I need help!
We have GBPVR set up with MediaMVP, and it suddenly stopped recording, so I decided to try to fix it by updating to the most recent GBPVR software. Unfortunately, I have enough skill to download and install the program, but not enough to get it working. I am trying to use zap2it.com as an EPG source, which we used successfully with the previous version. I forgot to uninstall the old version before beginning, but later went back and uninstalled. I installed .NET 2.0 as recommended and re-installed the new version, but I keep getting this error message when trying to set up the EPG:
âYour EPG source does not appear to be configured correctly. Please check the EPG Source Settings and try again. System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again.â
I have no idea what this means, and I really miss my tv shows. Can you help this damsel in distress?
I appear to be stuck with "object reference not set to an instance of an object"
I have only the stock plugins enabled. - This was an upgrade from a previous version, but even after uninstalling and moving the devnz\gbpvr directory then installing the new release it fails.
I upgraded to required .Net earlier. - After the initial upgrade the system was functional, yet too choppy to be usable (even with CPU running 2%). The uninstall, move, and reinstall was an attempt to fix this.
Suggestions? Anyone have a copy of the old installer I can use so the wife and kid don't kill me?
I'm having CPU usage issues which I didn't have before.
I don't know if something changed recently (I did the DB converstion lately), but at least at the begining (after the 97.7 upgrade) it was working fine, now it's almost impossible to watch live TV.
When doing live TV, cpu is about 35% all the time (this may have been the case with prev. version). When changing channels, it's at 100% (this is new), and the GBPVR.exe-native.log log is filled with many (100-200 every time) lines of:
"VERBOSE GetFilterProperty - IKsPropertySet->Get propertry failed"
Now, I saw other threads - I went to direct.ini, and changed, under the
[Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2] section from
INIT_MODE=IVAC
to:
INIT_MODE=DEFAULT
doesn't seem to change anything. Still same lines in log.
(BTW - what needs to be restarted for it to take effect?)
