I've done some searching on the forum and can't seem to find a thread regarding my particular problem. I have very good replay of TV recordings on my TV, but the GBPVR menu is fuzzy and not very crisp like I would expect. I probably have some settings to tweak, but not sure where to start. Here is my config:

GBPVR 97.7
Using the standard Blue Skin
VMR9 set
Video card is a Pny Technologies FX5500 with latest drivers
Using the S-Video out to my TV, no converters in between
I have the card configured to Dual mode and cloned to my Monitor
I've tried 640x480 720x480 and 800x600 at 60Hz resolutions, same issue.

Again, the replaying recorded shows is very good, almost like live non-PVR tv, but the menu is too fuzzy.

Thanks.

Can you recommend a good freeware tool for doing the screen dump?

Thanks.

To capture the entire screen image:
Press the "Print Screen" (usually abbreviated Prt Scrn) key which is located on the top right of your keyboard.

To capture an isolated window image:
(If GB-PVR is in windowed mode)
With that window active, press ALT-PrtScrn

Then "paste" the image into MSPaint

Is it fuzzy on your monitor also? If not, then it sounds like your tv out on your video card. Most of these are pretty crappy when it comes to text.

Use the nvidia tool (That is what a FX550 is?) and check that the flicker filter is not too high on the TV out.

Run GBPVR in windowed mode, and bring the toolbox up on top, then adjust the sliders etc and see if you can get a better quality image on your TV of the menu.

What about text on the screen during playback of videos? any issues there?

There's a number of threads discussing this but the bottom line (for SDTV, at least) seems to be: if you turn off anti-flicker completely (slider all the way to left) you get the crispest video on your TV but the menus look more fuzzy (especially things like the TV Guide or the Recordings screen) and your Windows desktop is just about impossible to read. If you increase the anti-flicker (slider in the middle, for me), the menus become sharp but the quality of the video playback suffers. Just another of life's tradeoffs, I guess.

BTW - I find 720X480 works best for US SDTV.
