I want to set up GB-PVR on a low-end system that has not a lot of HDD space, just enough to record 2-3 one hour shows. When the recordings will be done, I want to transfer the files to my main PC which has more space and I will use it to watch the shows via an MVP on the living Room TV.
Why don't I use my main PC you ask ? Because I recently changed my mobo and it has proved unstable a bit and I did experience some crash while the PC was recording a show. I lost part of the recording. I use my main PC for Internet, Games, etc...
Can I set up something in the post-processing bat file to auto-copy the recordings one completed from the low-end PC to a network drive ?
The last 6 months since I discovered GBPVR have been a blast. I have gone from nothing - to a world of digital capture and storage of everything.
And now it all works ...and is wonderful ....how did I ever live without it ... but I find myself wondering what's next......
Sure I could keep tinkering, use some more features, other plugins, play a bit more with filters. 'Fine tuning' guess. This I would love to do.
But here is the 'paint in the corner bit' - I am no longer allowed to play with this PC - because down time will not be tolerated! Whenever I do Wife accuses 'what have you stuffed up?'
Maybe I need to start again and build another PVR? (FUN )
But then there is the "....well how much would that cost?" and "What's wrong with this one?"
Dammed if this wasn't my hobby and its been shut down. I'm bored.
I've spent the week trying different settings and searching the forums for a solution to this problem. I get no sound on ATSC channels in GBPVR using the Avermedia A180. It's like it's on mute but only for GBPVR. If I use the WinXP avermedia tv app it works fine. If I use Media Center it works fine. No joy in GBPVR. I did see a reference to a registry setting last volume but it's not there in my registry. I know there are others out there using this card with GBPVR - any ideas. Here's my setup:
MSI Nvidia Geforce 6150 motherboard (can't remember the model #)
Opteron 165 X2 (not overclocked yet)
2x512 Corsair DDR400 ValueRam
Onboard video (works great!)
Onboard sound
Nvidia PureVideo decoder
Window XP MCE
I am running a pvr-350 on an 800 MHz PIII with 512 MB of RAM. When I watch live tv, channel changes are slow and after 2-3 consecutive changes the machine locks up. I have put the card in my 3.0 GHz P4 and this does not happen. Is this just a CPU utilization thing? Or could I have some settings messed up on my PIII machine?
I am running a pvr-350 on an 800 MHz PIII with 512 MB of RAM and on live tv output and recording playback I get a wide light-colored but visible horizontal band that scrolls up the screen. What could be causing this?
while experimenting with gbpvr i've noticed as others have that the dvd plugin isn't availible on the mvp and dvd playback isn't possible. Hopefully not for much longer!
I'm currently sitting on the sofa with my laptop writing this while watching a dvd through my mvp that is being streamed from a dvd in the dvd-rom in my server in sudo-realtime.
If anyone's interested ill write up my findings and hopefully in the future possibly with some help write a plugin allowing dvd playback on the mvp.
Look out for a little demo app im hoping to write in the next couple of days if i've got a couple of free minutes.
Ok, so... I realize how this is going to sound, and I'd be shocked and amazed if there wasn't an easy fix for it, but since I installed 0.96.12, i haven't been able to access any plugins, whatsoever. The only plugin I'm really dying for at the moment is MyPrograms, but I'd like the ability to use a few others as well.
So in order to test wether or not it was simply a limitation of the new skin that comes default, i decided to do a clean install of gbpvr, the latest MyPrograms plugin as well as a few other misc. plugins, as well as a few other skins that i have no interest in using, but that claim to fully support the plugins i tried...
Regardless which skin I use, and which plugins are installed, the only items on the menu are the standard stock ones... Keep in mind this is on an isolated machine that has all of the latest Windows updates, and has never seen a GBPVR installation before, so it doesn't seem to be limited to my machine at home.
Is it simply a matter of 0.96.12 requiring an update to all existing plugins, or what? If not, and it's something that i'm doing wrong, I would have expected to see others posting about similar problems, but haven't seen any yet. Can anybody offer any suggestions?
OK, I'll admit it  I am a newbie with this PVR stuff, but I was going to build a MythTV box, until I found this software, but I have a question. I see lots of card to encoding the video in to your PC, but what cards are people using to play the final video out to the TV.
I see that the Hauppauge PVR-350 has video out, but what other cards are people using to get the video from the PC to the TV.
When I restart the recordingservice by ok-ing config or through GBPVR- tray, it sometimes forgets to start the MVP-server. When I do it through restart.bat it never fails. Sounds familiar to anyone? It's not a big deal, just being curious.
