After spending 12 hrs. trying to install several plugins I have come to realize I do not understand the directions ,could someone put them in english?

I just saw that some of my programme's titles and subtitles where cut. It seems that the "Update EPG" procedure only uses 50 characters for those columns when writing them to the programmes table, but actually the columns are declared as char(100) in the database.

I wasn’t sure where to post this so… here goes.

There’s no denying how cool PVRs are. But, they work best for recording things you already know you want to watch (series, sporting events, movies you’ve heard of) and not so well for movies you’ve never heard of. I run GBPVR and I have a Dish Network provided PVR and both restrict movie descriptions to a line and a half and future showtimes to a couple of days.

So, I built a solution. It’s called MoviesOnCable.com and I’ve got every showtime from the HBO, Showtime, and Starz families of stations. There are links to the movie channel’s websites and other movie info sites to learn more about a film. I’ve built in PVR connectivity so I can click from any movie on the site straight over to my GBPVR search screen and click record. Conversely, I’ve made a one-line mod to GBPVR to allow me to look up movies on the web site.

I just released a new code base, so the site now supports sharing movies with friends, printing wrappers, and a ton of other features. One of my favorite features is the ability to ignore movies. For example, the Chevy Chase turd “Man of the House” is coming on 107 times this month. If I were at the mercy of my cable box I’d have to ignore it that many times to try and find a movie that’s worth watching. MoviesOnCable.com lets me click “Ignore it” and I never see it again!

So, take a look and let me know if it works for you. If you have any suggestions I’m all ears.

To get GBPVR to link to MoviesOnCable.com edit gbpvr\web\Details.aspx and replace the line that contains “images/program_hdr_pi.gif” with the following.

I tried to do a backup of my system as I had to switch machines. When I get everything up and running, all my previously recorded shows are under Recordings, but they show as "Failed", even though I know the files are there. So I went in to gbpvr.mdb to hunt the problem down and found that there is no Recordings table. A search of the threads brought up this from Sub saying that there has never been a Recordings table: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=11047.

But I'm POSITIVE I have seen a Recordings table. As a matter of fact, I setup a network client using this thread, which refers to making changes in the Recordings table: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=6132

Am I going crazy? Where are the recording file locations stored? And how do get my recordings back? Help please.

I have seen a couple threads on the board where people mention they were able to get a system with a Dvico Fusion 5 lite card working well under gbpvr. On my system, the FusionHDTV program works without issue, at no more than 65% cpu usage. However, gbpvr is pretty much locked at 100% cpu usage while viewing hdtv.

The machine has a not-too-brawny Athlon XP 2400+ @ 2 Ghz, but it's also not terrible. I have tried both available playback video decoders (Intervideo NonCss and Zulu BDA) and both VMR9 and Overlay modes. All permutations of these produce stuttering on LiveTV that is apparently due to cpu overload.

Is gbpvr doing more stuff than the FusionHDTV program, resulting in higher cpu usage? If so, should I content myself to only recording HDTV using gbpvr, and playback on a different machine? I'd love some advice from those who've had success.

sub could you make it so the @time variable is updated if you include it in the background image for tv guide?

so i can put a outline around the time, so it is more visible over the background im using in the PM3 skin.

I have two cards--PVR 150 and PVR USB2. The PVR USB2, no matter what I record things at, it always seems to capture at bitrate 9000. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this kind of problem and/or know how to change the bitrate, cause i'm trying under GBPVR, and it's not working.

I also recorded using wintv2000 and when I checked the properties of the file, it was also at 9000. So somewhere, it's just stuck at 9000.

Hey, does anyone have solid comskip profiles for US digital cable channels (not that the digital makes a difference, just clarifying). I have comcast digital, all broadcast channels, cable channels, and some pay channels. I'm a total spaz when it comes to tweaking the settings. I've got it working, but i don't want to screw it up, so i made a back up of the .bats and .inis. Does someone have .ini and .bat files that seem to be really spot on for catching ads?

Has anyone else noticed that Zap2It can sometimes have the wrong information on the site? For instance, I recorded a FrontLine that was supposed to be about the Meth Epidemic, according to Zap2It downloads into the EPG. When I recorded it, however, it was about an Al Qaeda show.

I checked the PBS site and for the time that I recorded the Frontline episode, their site said it was going to be on Al Qaeda. Both the Zap2It interactive site and the epg downloads agreed that it would be Meth.

This has happened infrequently on other channels as well.

Just curious if this is what you have to live with on Zap2It. I couldn't find any sources/lineups that would give the right results (there are quite a few variations on 'Comcast' station lineups in the Atlanta area). So I don't believe it is a problem of having selected the wrong lineup.

I have two tuner cards, so I did this experiment. I captured the exact same program, 10 minutes of it, at two different resolutions. With all other variables the same, I did one at 720x480 and the other one at 352x480. I could not tell the difference between the two in terms of quality. What I noticed, interestingly enough, that the file size of the 352 was higher than the 720. When I went and looked at the specs, for some reason, the 352 was recorded at 9mbps bitrate, verses the 720 at something like 5. I don't know what that's about, since i had kept the bitrate the same on both.

Here's my question--if the quality is about the same, should i be capturing at 352? maybe i just need a primer on screen resolutions. (I'm in US, so it's NTSC here)
