You can now download the first release of "Advisor Tutorial Skin", a skin project that is no ordinary skin. It has 6 skins in 1 skin....a "SixPack" of tutorial skins. There is also a Tutorial Guide.....thats intended for Graphic Designers
It has no actual design, except for the sub menu skins. It is more or less a naming standard for the Image files and flexible BaseSkin.xml to allow many different "Themes" of the skin.
The names for the images has not been finalized yet, so they might change.
The main idea is to use the BaseSkin.xml functionality and the use of Images as much as
possible. This would make it very easy for a graphical designer to make a skin design. I have made a "grid framework" to make positioning of elements easier.
I have studied other skins and incorperated the best ideas I have found. I would like to use "Themes" with modified versions of Blue, BlueMCE2 and Countour in the upcoming release of "Advisor Tutorial Skin" if that is OK with the designers.

- Good written documentation of how to make a "Skin Design"
- Buttons wide enough for different languages.

I am building an XP based media centre from a few bits I have lying around. The two DVB cards I have are a Nova-T and an Aver 771. Both are DVB-T cards.
The Nova works lovely in gbpvr. The Aver of course does not as there is no bda driver support. As both cards are in the same machine I am not sure what to do. Do I....
1. Sell the aver card on ebay, and get another nova card
2. wait for a bda driver to become available
I have no idea what the situation is with bda - so any suggestions much appreciated )
Now that I am regularly using gbpvr, I've notice how frag'd my partition is becoming. Some of the suggestions in the forum focus on independent partitions, etc. but I'm trying an alternate route by using contig.exe (http://www.sysinternals.com) to defrag JUST the recorded file and not the whole partition. By putting it in PostProcessing.bat (mypath\contig.exe -v %1 >>postprocessing.log) I find that the partition is staying relatively defrag'd and well-behaved -- since my recorded programs tend to cluster around similar sizes I notice that the partition starts to show fairly regular allocation patterns. My questions are
a) Anyone have any +/- experience with this approach -- what might I be missing?
b) I currently invoke contig AFTER running comskip... is reason to think it would make comskip performance any better/worse if I schedule contig to run BEFORE?
I am trying to get my GBPVR to work on my new computer which runs MS Media Center Operating System. It seems to get hung up on the "Loading Application..." step. Has anyone out there gotten this to work?
Hi, I have a Typhoon PVR Universal (which seems to be the same like the Lifeview TV Walker or RoverMedia Telebox U2). But I dont't have any Idea how to get a picture with that card.
Could you please tell me how to set up GBPVR. I have no idea which EPG Source and Channel Plugin to select. Also I got when I start GBPVR Live TV view is a black screen where I even don't know how to change channels. :confused:
I've done a forum search on this and didn't find any conclusive answers, so I thought I'd bring this issue up again and see if anyone has solved it in the meantime.
I've just got a new Athlon 64 Turion laptop, with the new Radeon Xpress 200 graphics chip. My previous laptop was a P4 with an ancient NVidia Geforce4 440GO.
When watching Live TV in a window, fullscreen or via the TV Out, pretty much any time there is fast horizontal or vertical panning/movement I get a visible "tear" in the screen about a quarter of the way down from the top.
I've tried the Hauppauge WinTV/cyberlink non-CSS MPEG2 decoder, the ATI/Cyberlink MPEG2 decoder and the Cyberlink PowerDVD MPEG2 decoder but it doesn't make any difference. I have also got the Nero MPEG2 decoder but this doesn't work well with GBPVR as I found out on my old laptop. I guess I could always install my old NVidia MPEG2 decoder but I'm not convinced that it is the decoder necessarily that is the problem.
Has anyone also had this problem and fixed it? anyone any suggestions?
Forgive me if this is a topic often discussed; but I'm a new GPVR as of this year.
I've been recording many shows and download the TV info from Zapit. What's causes GBPVR to no longer 'remember' the TV info and mapping of my recordings (i.e. title, description, date of recording)?
- I hear that moving the MPG while the service is up can cause this - makes sense b/c of a dangling reference. True?
- Q: If GBPVR can't access the folder/path, does it end up deleting the mapping and info about my records in it's DB? My volume was unaccesible (IDE issues) for a few reboots, but then I was able to have it show up again.
Q: Does updating the EPG in the Config program causes all my previous recording info to be dumped?
Q: Is there a way for me to get the TV data and reload/associate it with my recordings that are now 'unlinked'? i.e. recovery steps.

hi yesterday my remote conrol from the mvp stops working! I replaced the batteries in the remote, but it didn't changed anything.Pushing the buttons i can see flickering the led on the mvp, but no reaction! I can't turn off the mvp, I need to plug out the power cable.Could anybody help me on this! thanks in advance£:confused:

I just installed GBPVR or a clean system with the freecom BVB and I am very impressed with the qualty of the progam and the picture my problem comes when I go to Author with TMPGEnce; I always get an error of ethier Bit rate too hight or not the correct res I have tryed all the setting for the qualty but I can get a complant DVD mpeg .
Pleased help me its drivring me mad the Olimpics start on Friday !!!!!!!:eek:
