In the "recordings" section of the main menu, when a show is done recording, it shows as still recording in the "Pending" section and doesn't show up in the recently recorded section. It takes a hit-or-miss combination of restarting recording service and restarting gbpvr (sometimes even restarting the pc) to get it to show up in the new recordings section. Anyone else have this problem?

Just getting started with this whole PVR thing, so I hope this is not too trivial to ask (I searched around quite a bit, though).

My plan is to get a Plextor TV402U and hook it up to a little server PC, that is sitting in a closet. That server PC is supposed to record and store the video files. Playback is supposed to happen on a number of wirelessly conected PCs/laptops (and maybe through a MediaMVP in the future).

GB-PVR can be installed on the server PC and takes care of the recording etc., but I wonder, if there is any client software, that can run on the client PCs and allows convenient access of the GB-PVR features on the server (kind of like a software version of the MediaMVP)? The BeyondTV LINK software provides this kind of functionality, but I'd very much prefer to use freeware.

every so often, it seem maybe 1 out of 10 shows that i record have no sound. it might be a few in a row or it might just be 1 show that has no sound. i can watch other previously recorded shows with sound no problem, mp3's, live tv, so it doesnt seem to be the sound card.

i saw a few posts about the "last volume key", do you think this is my problem? its kind of irratiting that it does it sporadically, and I cant seem to nail down a pattern.

I'm not sure if this is mentioned already or not; I did a couple searches.

When I program a recording session from the TVGuide, then go mack to main/programs/pending and update the speed from medium to high, when I return to the pending program section, all the programs have lost their channel ID-- just display as "@channel". Trying to update one of these gives a "reference not found" type of error. Quit GBPVR, restart, all the programs have their proper channel settings back and can be updated (once) then problem reoccurs.


Not a huge issue, but a pain. Especially since I have a bunch that got set up at medium, and I wish to switch to high.

did I miss a setting to make the default recording quality "high" when doing the one-touch recording from the TV Guide?

I had sometimes a problem with the GBPVR software in MVP mode and the only solution then was to restart GBPVR. For that i needed access to a PC and that was not always close me. So i made a quick .cmd script to reload GBPVR after pressing the power button on the remote. It is nothing fancy but it works for me:

Note:

Tested only on MS Windows XP

- Assumes default installation path(s) GBPVR.
- Commands used: Del, Copy, START, Netstat, Find (default availible with MS XP)

1: you need to download the freeware process.exe util from: http://www.beyondlogic.org/solutions/pro...ssutil.htm
(also any other tool that displays and kill processes will do fine i think).

2: Create a directory and put this the tool there.

3: Create in this directory also a file called: WASON.CHK

4: Create in this dir. also a file called: ResetMVP.CMD

5: Copy and Paste the next stuff into ResetMVP.CMD

Note: the line containing "netstat -n | find ":5906" > nul" is a default setting/port for the MVP to connect to GBPVR.EXE test it by running this line without the "> nul" statement to see if this port is connected when the MVP is ON.

Testing:

- Start GBPVR in MVP Mode.
- Turn on MVP
- Open a Commandwindow (CMD) and go to the directory where ResetMVP is located.
- Run ResetMVP.CMD

It now detects MVP is connected.

- Switch the MVP off and run ResetMVP again. It now will detect a lost connection and initiate a reload of GBPVR.EXE.

the last thin you must do now is:

6: Now create a scheduled task witch calls the ResetMVP.CMD every one minute. Make sure you let it run in the directory where ResetMVP is placed.

I'm tyring to find some information about video file headers so I can distinquish between a divx ,xvid,mpeg etc. The reason is so I can write automated converter to trawl directories converting divx,xvid to mpeg2 to stream out to the mediaMVP. Rather than convert them all by hand.

If theres a tool out there that already does it though then please let me know.

I have realised that the tv picture quality, is much lover via GBPVR and ATI Theatrix 550 than the original tv picture. It is the same quality on the monitor also.
There is no enough sharpness and light in the picture, which can not be adjusted with Video card or on the tv. It looks like that there is no enough dynamic in the Luminance signal.
The picture quality was better on the Powercinema3. Is it any possibility to find out what kind of filters are used in the Powercinema3 by default, and set these in GBPVR?

running latest gbpvr with PVR 350 card. Sound, UIRT channel changing, recordings, everything works great, except for video playback. I know this is due to the PVR 350.

If I add a Matrox Parhelia card, and change GB to playback using software, playback is great, and GB never hangs. But, I have no sound, and cannot change channels? The channels change on screen, but UIRT never sends signal to my cable box. If I switch GB back to PVR 350 card, it all works again. I've tried changing audio cable between the PVR 350 and my sound card, but no luck.

More of a request really - since I started using comskip to generate .vprj files for videoredo, I noticed that gbpvr doesn't clean these up upon deletion, leaving the file and the directory.

Could this extension be added to the deletion routine?
