I do my own conversions after the recording. With the new version of GBPVR it will figure out that the old mpeg is not there but a new avi file is found. This works...but now my comskip files do not seem to be associated with new avi file.


Who's responsible for the associations? Comskip or GBPVR?

Hi, i just purchased a pVR150 and installed it in one of my PCs. I did a fresh install of WIn XP and also installed SP2 and NET 1.1

Installation of GB-PVR went fine but I cannot view the Live TV.

I am in australia and I am trying to get the tv from cable TV. I used the TV tuner helper and it scanned the channels and it found the signal at channel 222. So I added a channel in the Recording source with channel number 222.

WHen I try to view LiveTV, the screen is just black. I tried doing a manual recording for a few mins but when itry play the MPG, just refuses to play, nothing happens!

Also whenever I click OK in the config program, NET gives me an error. It saves the settings though cause when I load the config again, the settings have been changed.

This is my settings in recording source:

Recording Source: Direct Recording Plugin
EPG Source: None
CHannel Changer: No Channel Changer Required

Direct Recording Settings:
Capture Card Type: PVR150
COuntry: Australia
Board Number : #1
Source: External Tuner, Fixed Channel

I know I must be doing something wrong. I installed GB-PVR on my main computer (one without a capture card) and it works fine, no errors when i confirm the config and it plays videos fine. But it doesn't have a capture card so I can't test the Live TV or recording.

Any help will be appreciated.

First of all, thanks for a great piece of software. I've struggled with VDR and MVP until I finally found GBPVR.

I think there has been some kind of discussion on webservices -as in SOAP and XML- before, but nobody really got interested in it(?). I think having a webservice interface offering similar functionalities than the -very nice- web admin would be great.

What I am aiming for is enabling developers to implement language independent client apps for controlling GBPVR. Mainly I am interested in client apps for mobile devices, such as smart phones which quite widely support J2ME -and webservices.

Smart phones commonly have browsers in them, but using those really suck. I don't know if I am the only one but to me a client running in my Series 60 phone for controlling GBPVR would really be a killer application.

I havent' done sw with C# before but am looking into it. I'd appreciate any comments regarding to this idea and of course some pointers how to get started. Also if anyone thinks there's a better away for approaching this that'd be nice to hear too.

I am using wintv pvr 150MCE

and i found that there is a delay , around 1-2s, on live tv , compare with traditional TV set

However, when i turn live tv preview disable, gbpvr will say it will run in timeshift mode

and the delay will become worse..

it is a bug of gbpvr, isn't it?

also, how can i config on gbpvr for making live tv less and less delay (i think that perfect solution is no delay..)???

In the UK Sky have just launched a Sky By Broadband service for downloading movies and sports and then viewing them on a PC using MS Digital Rights Management within Media Player 10.
Is there any way that I would be able to view this content on an MVP or will I be restricted to the host PC.
I want to know whether I will be better off setting this service up on my main GBPVR server or on my wifes VAIO laptop which I could then plug into our projector directly rather than use an MVP.
It looks an interesting service and is currently free for Sky customers.

I have a problem with GBPVR, dont get me wrong I love this app but I have one small niggle.

All the channels appear slightly off screen, resizing the window doesnt help, this also happens with the ODS for the EPG when watching live TV.

I just got comskip to work, although it needs a little fine tuning. Lovin it though!

My cousin has MythTV with a feature that is very similar to comskip. It analyzes the show in much the same way, and displays the bar showing where the commercials are. But the cool thing he could do was manually go through the bar and make sure the commercial detection was correct. There were two buttons on the remote: a cut start point and a cut finish point, in case a commercial was missed. And then he could convert the show without the commercials to xvid at the touch of the button. It would do this while watching or schedule a time.

Is there anyway to achieve this with plugins for GBPVR?

I already have a Hauppage Nova-T USB running on my main PC but i am trying to put a PVR together ona real budget.

What i want to know is what is the bare minimum spec processor and ram to run GBPVR?

On Ebay i can pick up a P3 700 with 256mb ram for about £40 which is quite tempting.

Any advice?

I just got a Media MVP, and have been using it with GB-PVR for about 6 hours, and now the thing is just dead. I didn't upgrade the software. In fact, I never installed their software. Either my remote is not working, the unit is not getting power, or it got fried some how. The IR LED never comes on, and there isn't any activity on the ethernet cord. Can some one who has a Media MVP tell me if the activity lights on the ethernet cord are on when the device is turned off?

I enjoyed it while it lasted.
