If I scan for channels now I will find lots of channels...

Except those that are not being broadcast now ! :p
(ie: channels only running between certain times)

Some programs detect all channels whether they are being broadcast or not..
Any way to do this in GB-PVR ?? It would make it easier to sort channel mapping to XMLTV !!

After finally getting GBPVR working after coming from Showshifter I have come back to the same problem i have had before. I want to convert to XVid to watch on my standlaone Divx/XVid player.

What i am wondering is what other people use to do this. Ideally i want a tools where i can choose the target size and just let it get on with it.

I have tried Auto Gordian Knot which worked ok but the audio was out of synch. This took as mpg source. I have managed to get GBPVR to output to MPG rather than DVR-MS or whatever it is.

Any advice?

A couple of questions for my first post here.

I installed GBPVR and got the MVP server up and running after searching and following the advice given in forums. I much prefer the TV interface over the original hauppauge.

The MVP is currently playing a recording of King Kong (the 70s remake) that I made (today)with the DEC2000-T and apparently playback is perfect.
A new experience with a non stream-fixed recording from the DEC - usually I have to run them through Videoredo to play over the MVP properly.
Could this be a result of using GBPVR???

I have searched this forum and the hauppauge one to try and find out if it is possible to run/control the DEC2000 in GBPVR the way it can with Showshifter

1) does anyone know if this can be acheived ??
2) or if it will be directly supported in a future version??

For those of you who use DScaler5 as your MPEG decoder, there's a new version out. Not much has changed apparently and I haven't tried it yet... Improved deinterlacing for Radeon cards seems to be the only change.

I've read through all the threads I could find, but of course my search isn't going to find much when "HD" is a disregarded search string, so I may have missed a thread or two that wasn't titled properly.

Anyway, my local cable provider (USA) is giving us some freebie HD channels. I read in one thread here that GB-PVR doesn't support anything but over-the-air HD signals, right? So is there any way for me to record any of these cable-based HD channels in GB-PVR? I want them to remain in HD quality, of course (or else I'd just get an external HD tuner and route it through my PVR150 or PVR500). Would the combination of an external HD tuner and say an ATI HDTV Wonder card do the job? Is there a better solution? Is there any solution? Is there no one else who has wanted to do this?

This must be one of those situations where I'm missing something.

I have 597 albums in my collection. Is this error a result of having too many music folders? I am about to put together some test playlists and see if I just need to settle for using those instead of individually choosing albums.

Jeff, from what site are you getting the stock quotes from? I want to get quotes for Canadian stocks. Some sites use different conventions for different stock exchanges for example, "STK.TO" for yahoo while others start with "T.STK"

Circuit City has the Hauppauge WinTV USB 2.0 TV Tuner for $40 after rebate. That's about half price. It works with GB-PVR (so I hear ) and might be a good deal for slot-challenged systems (like mine).
