I wondered if skin support for a (full screen) red light "RECORDING" might be helpful?
Currently the task bar icon changes colour when recording. I use this a lot before I decide to do something that may require a restart or use heaps of CPU or bus. (i.e. it dosen't seem like a good idea to defrag while recording )
But you can't see the task bar on full screen. Yes, Some of the skins display text "recording now........." but it this cycles through other information and is not always obvious.
Am contemplating writing a guide plugin for GBPVR. (I may be some time :-) )
Idea is to write a plugin for a TV guide that more properly suits my requirements.
Have looked at the format of the .mdb file from which the existing TV guide gets populated and have some ideas about what I want to do to the data.
Are there rules about what a plugin may do to the .mdb file?
Is a plugin permitted to change the structure of subs .mdb file (e.g. adding tables or columns to the database) or should a new .mdb file be added to the GBPVR directory and then have the plugin gets its data from this? I can easily imagine that messing with sub's database is non preferred.
My scheme is to have the long channel list in the existing TV guide replaced by a number of short channel lists. Similar to the Xguide browser but with an extra level of hierarchy.
Each capture source has its own Guide and the channels on each capture card are divided into shorter guides such as news, sport, music, (or all) etc. (very much like the skybox channel list is subdivided).
The database structure for this is trivial and the existing TV guide viewer might be persuaded to display a filtered list without too much trouble.
Not sure of the practicalities of this but might be an interesting thing to try over Christmas - if I get time.
Lastnight after recording a tv show off cable tv, when I had tried to play it back I got noise static instead of sound during playback? Recorded two other tv shows and none of them had that problem.

Hi there. I can't get the avi's to run on the mvp  . I'm now trying to convertthese to mpeg files so MVP will run smoothly. I use DIKO http://www.vmesquita.com/en/diko.htm. Does anyone have some experience with this. I'll let you know when I have converted and viewed my first movie. If this works it may be an idea to make some autoconvert into GBPVR ?
I recently started using time shift for live TV. I had not used it much in the past so I am not sure if this is a new occurance or not.
In time shift, the picture has a quick hic-up every 30 seconds. No problem when in preview mode or on recordings. I watched the process tab of task manager for CPU ustilization and found the recording service is spiking at the time of the hic-up.
My system is a sempron64 2600+. Drive is a 120GB seagate 7200RPM IDE.
Any idea what the recording service is doing every 30 secs that would make this happen?
I set the Survivor Finale to record last night since I wouldn't get home until after it started. Unfortunately the football game earlier in the after went late, delaying the start of Survivor by about 30 minutes.
When I highlighted the Pending recording that was already in-progress there was no option to change the end time. I was able to schedule another recording to pick up after the other was over and therefore not miss the end of the program, but if the original recording ends during the middle of some action, there's a bit of the show lost as one recording stops and another starts. It'd be better if I could have simply updated the end time of the existing recording.
