I just upgraded to GBPVR09516 and noticed the following tips & tricks regarding how to convert recordings to xvid. I have the Hauppauge PVR250, the freeware lame mp3 encoder installed.

I noticed that recording and converting worked fine, however the bitrate of the sound was 128kb and also, the sound was MP2. After reading a bit in the forum and above all on the homepage of FFMPEG I found where to change the settings for it, it's in config.xml on the line that goes:

<Conversion name="XviD" cmd="-y -i {SOURCE_FILE} -f avi -ab 128 -ac 2 -vcodec xvid -b 1250 {DEST_FILE}" targetExtension=".avi" />

Change this line to something like below

<Conversion name="XviD" cmd="-y -i {SOURCE_FILE} -f avi -ab 224 -ac 2 -acodec mp3 -vcodec xvid -b 1250 {DEST_FILE}" targetExtension=".avi" />

And the bitrate will be 224 with MP3.

Now, if anyone has any more tips, for instance on how to optimize the settings for ffmpeg for quality/size please let me know.

I'm a newbie of this argument, and I've just bought this new card from Hauppauge... ok, there's also HVR-1300 but it's very expensive

I've a Terratec T2 USB also (property of my brother); with this adapter and Cinergy SW I can record any channel in .TS format (wich contains Video + all audio PID)

Can I record with HVR-1100 the same .TS file format?
Which software I must have to record this?

Just read an article that by Feb 2009 all broadcasts in the US will be digital. That means my Haup PVR's will be no good any more because I will need STB's. I know GBPVR will work one PVR-150 with IR Blaster but not more than one. Are you planning on creating a way for multiple PVR cards to use IRBlaster? That's the only way I can see that GBPVR is going to remain viable if I have to have an STB with each tuner and that GBPV can change the channels on each tuner's STB.

I don't think there is a huge hurry for this, just wondering what your plans are.

since i did this cdplayer-thing which doesn't use gbpvr to play the files (it uses mci, since this is the only way to play audio-cd's with datatracks) i have a few problems:

- i cannot use stop/pause/play on the main menu since those keystrokes are processed by gbpvr.
-> question: how can i react on main-menu-keystrokes? maybe via panel?

- how about visualisations: do they work, even if it's not gbpvr playing the files?

another option would be to integrate the cdplayer-functions (mci-playback and so on) into the gbpvr-core, so the normal music-functions could be used

A great feature would be to allow the "DVD" plaver to read the DVD/CD filesystem if it isn't an actual DVD-Video. And then allow a video (avi) to be read and played directly from the DVD/CD. Additionally, the ability to read and play MP3's.

The technology is already there, just not put together quite like this. If I am wrong and these features are already there please let me know (and hints on how to use them).

It says in the help menu to click on the lower right corner. On my screen I have no icon there, like it shows in the help menu.

I have a Streamzap IR receiver for my computer and it works great except for a couple of things with gbpvr. The skip functions don't work -- apparently they aren't supported by Streamzap, that would be OK if the short skip worked!! The weird thing is that the short skip works but only in the forward direction, not in reverse. The IR receiver is definitely receiving the reverse command, because it works perfectly in itunes. Looks like a crappy driver from Streamzap???

This is very frustrating and really makes me mad. Support emails to Streamzap go unanswered. Anybody solved this? Help?? Anyone know of alternative drivers for a Stream zap remote?

If you haven't solved this, is anybody know of an IR receiver that works perfectly with gbpvr?? I gotta get rid of the Streamzap before I smash it.:eek:

per subs instructions I changed the logging level to debug and have attached the log files. The first two files are with using the overlay manager renderer while the last two (with extension 1 are with VMR9)

I have installed PVR-350 in a P3, 1GHz, 256 RAM machine. The card is connected to TV via the TV out. The installation went smoothly. The winTV 2000 application works correctly, including recording, pause and playback of the recorded clips with winamp on the PC monitor. Next I installed GBPVR, again went smoothly. Got the OSD on the TV, works well with the Hauppauge remote. The TV guide showed correctly, the weather channel pluggin also works. However, I could not see any TV pictures nor record any. On selecting Live TV, I get a blank screen for few seconds and then the menu screen. I then changed the output to PC monitor to see if there is issue with the PVR card. When I click Live TV - i get this error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object” . I tried using different codecs - intervideo NonCSS which came with the PVR card, Cyberlink (trial version) and showshifter (trial version). The log files are attached (I am not a programmer, so i do not know what they mean).

Any help will be greatly appreciated......

I've had this problem from the start and still have not been able to play more than one tune from any of the music plugins. Have Tried My Music, Music Player2, Music Library.

There is no message in the log files. In the GBPVR.exe.log there is an "About to start playback..." log message, but that is all.

I thought perhaps i've messed up my plugin directory settings somehow, so I tried totally deleting the GBPVR directory, installing the latest gbpvr, and running the default blue skin to see if i could actually get 2 songs to play. No go.
