Can you just set qbpvr to record a one hour movie?
Posted by: jang - 2005-08-29, 12:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hello there. I'm new to gbpvr. I notice that when I watch livetv, there's always the bar above saying whether 30 mins. or 1 hour. What's that for? While watching a movie, can I just press record and set whether it's 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1.5 hours? My epg isn't functioning well.

Cannot reconnect with gbpvr server after initial connection...
Posted by: venger - 2005-08-29, 08:45 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hi all,

After all the good work by johnvk, I can now get my MVP to talk to my GBPVR server... mpegs are playing fine with full skipping supported..

however, I am finding that while the initial connection between MVP and GBPVR server is now easy to establish.. subsequent reconnects by my MVP fail at "loading application...".
This normally happens since my MVP is not always on but my PC machine remains running.

Observations:
(1) Killing GBPVR.exe (from task manager) does not solve the problem.

(2) Restarting GBPVRRecordingService.exe (via Config.exe) DOES solve the problem.

My questions:
(a) Does anyone else see the same thing in their setup?
(b) What is the cause for the above behaviour? What is the fix? Smile

thanks all,

PS: my setup : both MVP and PC are connected (using CAT5e) to an DSL modem router (Linksys WRT54GS).

Hi, thanks for a great program (always good to start with some sucking up, even though its true Wink

I have a problem that i havent been able to solve even though i have read, well, all of this forum...

I have an Hauppauge pvr-350-card...

I´m interested in the live-tv part and have one coax (ordinary tv-antenna) input and one s-video (my sat-box). The problem is that I can´t figure out how to get the both sources available at the same time in GB-pvr.

Also, I will soon be able to control the sat-box from the htpc with an serialcable... Can I set up GB-pvr for that?

Thanks in advance for any help, and please bare in mind that im not very smart, and maybe not so good in typing English (Swede) Wink...

Best Regards

Emptied EPG -now can't get listings back?
Posted by: tevbill - 2005-08-29, 07:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Maybe I just have to wait for a while for it to sync - not sure.
I did an "Empty EPG" from the config becasue I wanted to tweak the channels some.
I then did an Update EPG and watched it download the listings from Zap2it. It processed the information.
I can watch live tv and switch to all the channels and even find shows through search guide - but- the Guide and XGuide are completely blank of any listings at all. any ideas?

Posted by: jusatry - 2005-08-29, 06:53 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

In the system tray of my windows XP screen there is an icon for the wireless connection. Anytime the connection changes strengh or is lost and re-connected an annoying baloon pops up with the status of the network....

It comes up over GBPVR and is very annoying becuase I have to use a mouse to re-focus GB. Anyone know how to disable this (and other) windows XP baloons?

Thanks!

Ack!! gbpvr.mdb deleted after running config!
Posted by: wtg - 2005-08-29, 04:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I upgraded to the latest release a couple days ago, and it seemed to go flawlessly. I've been in and out of the config app a couple of times, rebooted the machine a few times, and in and out of gbpvr without event.

Then tonight, I watch a movie, check the weather and then decide I'm not real fond of the new screensaver since I usually leave gbpvr open to the weather page so I can flip to it real quick when I've got the TV on. I didn't want to have to find the pvr remote to clear the screensaver after switching my TV input over to gbpvr. So, I exit gbpvr, run config, disable the screensaver, turn off autoskip, and change my decoder (I saw a new decoder in the list - thought I'd test it). I exit config, the recording service says it's restarting, and then I try to launch gbpvr. Double click, no response after a 30 seconds or so, double click again, still nothing, so I check the log. Ack!! It says can't find gbpvr.mdb!! And sure enough, I check the directory, it's gone. *sigh*

Ok, besides my letting you know there's a particularly nasty bug lurking about, now what do I do? I have a backup of gbpvr.mdb and config.xml prior to the upgrade. Can I restore the files and reinstall the new release again, or will it recognize it's already installed and not do convert my restored gbpvr.mdb to the new release format? Do I need to uninstall, reinstall the prior release, restore my database and then upgrade?

And what about MyDatabase.mdb? I didn't back it up prior to upgrade and there have been updates to it since then. Does it have hard references to items in gbpvr.mdb that will be out-of-synch now once I restore, or does it operate completely independent?

Thanks in advance for you help.

*wearily wanders off to bed*

  Schedule Time Problem
Posted by: Geek - 2005-08-29, 03:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm using Zap2It for my guide and all my shows are off by one hour. My Windows timezone is set to GMT-07:00 Arizona. Arizona has no daylight savings so that's not my problem.

I've tried emptyEPG and updating but no change. Shows are still off by one hour. Zap2It.com schedule has the correct show times. Is there a way to directly view the schedule that GBPVR downloads from Zap2itEPG feed?

  Suggestions
Posted by: duren - 2005-08-29, 03:45 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

I've recently tried GB-PVR and I think it's a great program. I have an ATI TV Wonder Elite, and have to say, with the most recent version, it works great.

I was wondering though, if some features could be added which would make it much more attractive to me and many more users...

First of all, I would like to say, I understand the concept of GB-PVR so these features may not be appropriate for GB-PVR in itself but rather a seperate spin-off program.

The basic idea behind these features is to make the program more friendly for those who want to also use it as their complete capture solution.

By this I mean, having a capture mode which gives quick adjustments and profiles to source, resolutions, bitrates, codecs, etc, and also include a frame drop counter.

This would essentially be a 'virtualdub capture mode' with one BIG difference; it would properly handle all of the currently supported cards, aka hardware mpeg-2 capture, with the choice of doing software capture to a codec if the user deems necessary.

This mode would also not concentrate on an EPG, simply let you choose the source (and channel) and settings and let you capture, reporting the status.

Adding quick edit tools to chop / split / edit out commercials after capture would be excellent but not necessary.

I suggest this because I think it would be a great addition to GB-PVR, a quick capture mode if you so choose to use your XBox, VCR, Camcorder etc and because this damn TV Wonder Elite I have, has been out for a year now and ATI has moved from a great, capable tv application to a micky mouse piece of crap called Cyberlink PowerEnema, stripping the user of the most crucial functions when capturing.

Believe you me, if this mode was implemented, GB-PVR would attract many many more users and spread like wildfire for those who own this ATI card.

What do you guys think?

  XMedia LE and Cyclic Redundancy
Posted by: linfor - 2005-08-29, 02:17 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

I just have tried several times to delete the Xmedia le zip file from my drive and I keep getting a message of cyclic redundancy. After my second attempt to delete the computer rebooted and when it came back up windows did a lot of "error correction" or some such. The test recordings on the drive are now corrupted.
What I want to know is what could be causing it? And is the cyclic redundancy responsible for the corruption?

Any way to fix corrupted recordings?
Posted by: linfor - 2005-08-28, 11:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

My C drive suddenly lost it's boot record so I had to replace it. When I booted up and looked at my recordings most of them are corrupted. For example - 1 hours shows athat are 1.6GB are actually 7 minutes long part of another show. Not all of them were corrupted, just most of them. I am afraid to hookup the other drives I have recordings on for fear the same thing will happen to them.
I always kept the drive my recordings were stored on in good shape, defragged, etc. Is there anyway I could recover the recordings?
