I'm seeing a lot of bargains on Kijiji and bay now as people change technologies drop cable or clean their basement. Add that to the fact that NextPVR v5 doesn't need Windows anymore putting together a system can be really cheap . Assuming you don't need transcoding almost any used computer will run v5 fine and you still get new versions of the OS with upgrades.
This is mix of digital OTA and analog svideo to get all the channels on the the STB.
Hauppauge dual tuner (used in this example for both source $25 CDN)
Digital Antenna $30
HD STB (I got 2 for $30 CDN)
Firewire tuner card $15
SD subscription $3/month
Total for that demo without PC $100 CDN about $80 US without a PC.
For HD capturing from the STB the HDPVR 1212's go for about $50US now so we are reaching the point where CableCard is expensive. Sadly cable costs a lot but it is reliable. I actually have an HDPVR hooked up too, but the svideo is not that bad for casual viewing and tunes faster.
As a bonus if you wait a little bit in the video 1:30 or so you can see me controlling PIP via lircd using ssh. There is no automated application that does this, I thought it was cool though
The TV Guide in NextPvr does not fully populate many of my stations. I have contacted Schedules Direct and they indicate that they are sending them out. Their words, "We don't provide application support; you must ask in the NextPVR forum, because there are people there that will be able to help you with your NextPVR-specific issue."
Would appreciated any guidance in resolving this issue.
I have attached npr1-4 files which are screen shots of my Tv Guide.
Hello everyone,
Would appreciate any thoughts anyone has. Recently I upgraded from win 7 to win 10 and now my recording service is not auto starting when windows starts. I cannot seem to figure out why. Anyone have a fix?
I have Android 10 installed on my phone and the Dark theme enabled. The NextPVR application give a super bright Pink with dark background.
Can this be changed? It is usable but annoying.
Knewc 2.7.4, NextPVR v5 server, remote, two different clients. One is Linux, one is Kindle/Android.
Was working but the last couple days it just won't connect. Log file shows a 404. Knewc Web Client doesn't work either, also says it can't connect.
Haven't changed anything (that I know of) since it was working. Restarted service, rebooted client, no change. Re-entered credentials several times. Also tried using real IP address instead of virtual static IP, no change.
Both clients can hit and play from the server just fine from web browsers.
Like many I am transitioning from Windows 7 where I am using Media Center to record TV only, to Windows 10. I am looking for NextPVR to replace Media Center to record TV only. All other media centre duties are handled by Kodi on each of my HTPC's. Taking into account my HTPC setup, I think NextPVR seems to be my best option.
Under my Windows 7 setup, the server (HTPC-L) would record live TV to a local HDD. I would then copy the recordings on a schedule to my NAS to enable my client PC's to access these recordings for viewing later, which worked well.
With NextPVR I have set up the server side of the application and all works well, barring a shutdown issue which I will deal with later.
The issue above is specific to my client PC. I have this PC connecting to a Synology NAS. In effect all I want the client PC's to do is play back the recorded TV. As I use Kodi and intend to continue doing so, I can utilise the NextPVR Client addon which to be fair provides a superior and consistent user experience for other users e.g. WIFE.
I can browse to the same NAS from the same client PC using Windows Explorer with no issues and the NAS is there as a mapped drive as well.
I have found a post https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...ith+server that details the exact symptoms, but can see nothing that seems useful to me as a resolution and its a bit old. I have attached for a screenshot of the message. I realise that the date/timestamp is old but it gives you and indication of how long I have been attempting to find a resolution.
I have attached the client logs after the message was generated. The message generated by NextPVR appeared at approx 15:49, if that helps.
My environment consists of the following:-
3 x HTPC's
HTPC-L has the TV Tuner card, so in NextPVR terms is considered the server (currently Windows 7 SP1)
HTPC-S, is a client PC (currently Windows 10). This is my test PC.
HTPC-M, is a client PC (currently Windows 7 SP1)
1 x Synology NAS which BTW hosts a couple of databases for Kodi, so thought it could perform a similar role with NextPVR.
I want to use the NAS because it is the ONLY machine that runs 24/7. I am not keen on starting up another machine just to query the NPVR.db3 database file for recording or programme info.
Since the update before this last one (NPVRSetup_4_2_5_191014), commercial skipping stopped working.
I mainly use x-newa in kodi, but I also tried nextpvr natively, when using nextpvr or the web interface via x-newa, it shows the commercial blocks, but doesn't skip over them.
I can see the the postprocessing.bat file is kicked off and comskip does produce the edl file.
What has changed and how can I get commercial skipping working again ?
Hi,
I've been using NextPVR for years with a Hauppauge DCR-2650 connected to Cable. I noticed that over the last few years some channels would display black screen but would play audio. It started with METV HD and then WOR; WPIX; PBS. I had given up trying to fix it. When I record, everything plays back fine, it's only live stream that won't display. I did a scan of channels on the Hauppauge DCR-2650 web interface and saw that they now display "HD" or "AVC HD" and coincidentally, the channels that don't stream live for me are "AVC HD". I've attached a screenshot of the channel list. I'm just curious if this is something that can be rectified.
My goal is knewc on Kodi to make it look like the Windows client or the PCH to reduce the amount of explaining I need to do for the rest of the family. Accessing other things like Amazon Prime Video would be a plus.
Any recommendations?
Once the new SiliconDust Prime 6 comes out, I can replace my Ceton.
Have setup NPVR5 and am running with Kodi 18.4
When using the NPVR5 web interface or client all the channel icons are correct, but when using kodi all the icons are random.
Just wondering if this has been noticed by anyone else?
Other than that everything else seems to be working fine.
