Kodi NextPVR Client Add-on couldn't be loaded
Posted by: lgulseth - 2019-10-29, 05:48 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (13)

I finally have TV working via Kodi on localhost and have started trying to access from other LAN computers. I've tried Android Kodi and Windows 7, both will not connect to the server. If I click TV, in the upper right corner "PVR manager to starting up" will appear but never change from 0%. All computers and tablet are using the same NextPVR add-on.

I've checked using a second not internet connected router with different subnet settings to make sure my ATT router isn't blocking :8866 and nothing changed.

Also checked using Kodi :8080, which works fine on localhost but not remotely.

Ports 8866 and 8080 are both allowed tcp with ufw.

A ping of the server (running Ubuntu 19.04) works fine.

Please help! What am I missing here?

  Web streaming security
Posted by: bisonfan - 2019-10-29, 02:50 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Hi!

Long time NPVR user that is slowly expanding the horizon of the software offerings.  This past weekend I figured out how to allow a family member to stream to remote location (their house) a football game via my PVR system.  I used my routers HTTP server and all worked well for the most part(occasional drops). However after the fact I realized that this wasn't the most secure connection.

My System is an r3 1200 windows 10, NPVR build 4.2.5, asus rt-arch13 router

So my question is what is the best way to secure an output feed from your system?  What methods are others using? Is this outside of the realm of what the web access portion of the software is intended for?

My first thought was a VPN however they seem to be inconsistent (even paid services)… I than looked at HTTPS but not totally certain that it is what I need.

Thanks in advance for any help.

How to run recording service from command prompt?
Posted by: eastavin - 2019-10-28, 05:11 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hi. I was experimenting on my windows 10 PC with nextPVR.  Wanted to try using Intel quick sync as the video encoder for "transcoded streaming"... as on the "clients" tab in settings.

When I select this Intel quick sync option - a warning is displayed that this would only work when running the recording service from the command prompt.

As I am not a programmer but just sort of handy with a computer.. I thought I would ask what is the correct way to run the recording service from the command prompt? I use a standard user account to run nextpvr and watch tv.

Having said that is there some sort of advantage in running the recording service as a service that I would loose when running it from a command prompt?

Many thanks

Edward

  Lost Live TV
Posted by: SilverTiger - 2019-10-28, 01:29 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (50)

I can't get live tv to work in the desktop app on latest build.  This was working in a previous build.  Looks OK for an instant, then degrades into a pixelated mess.  I fiddled with decoders to no avail.  Best I can tell, recording is working and I can play a recording using the client as well as VLC.  Live TV works in web app. V4 live TV is working fine.   I have decoders set in V5 matching V4.  Attached logs, but I don't see much there.  Colossus 2 on Windows 10.  Using Component/SPDIF.

Windows Desktop Gadget Updated for V5?
Posted by: BrettB - 2019-10-27, 10:19 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (17)

Now that I'm moving my production system to v5, I'm missing having the Windows Desktop Gadget running on my laptop to showing me the current recordings and free disk space "at a glance".

cncb: Do you still have the source code for the gadget? Have you looked into updating it to use the v5 API instead of NEWA?

  Channel sorting
Posted by: markn62 - 2019-10-27, 09:39 PM - Forum: Windows - No Replies

Any plans to provide channel sorting by column in the channels page @ /settings.html# ?  Hard to map without sorting.  Importing two sources also causes two of every channel number so the channel list starts with channel number 1 details A, number 1 details B, number 2 details A, number2 details B, etc.  :-)

  DVB-T less channels than V4
Posted by: srhutch - 2019-10-26, 02:55 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

In V4 there were ini files for each UK Transmitter. Where can I find these for V5

If I select my local transmitter it is canning only one frequency. The V4 version scans six frequencies.

Scanning whole of UK give me more, but still some missing.

Find Old Forum Posts / Moving NextPVR setup

Hi
The change of Forum structure/software has meant that Google is reporting results which I cannot find. Is there anything which can be done to get it to re-index?

The specific topic on which I need help is the following. I'm about to rebuild my PC, currently Windows 7, as Windows 10, with a fresh Windows install. I want to make sure that my NextPVR settings including things like recurring programs and EPG settings get transferred to the new machine. I can make sure that C:\Users\Public gets transferred, and export my channel list and import it to the re-installed tuners, but what else do I need to do?

Thanks
Andrew

  Recording jumbled
Posted by: VCR58 - 2019-10-26, 05:39 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (15)

I scheduled a recording of game 3 of the world series at 7:00pm. About 2hrs later started the recording with Kodi to watch the game delayed. However, after about 20 sec the video became jumbled and soon it was just a big mess and no audio. I fast forwarded the video to see if it got better but no luck. There were a few places that were clear for a few seconds then back to jumbled. So, I gave up and watched it live to the end without any problems. Never saw any issues watching it live. My tuners are HDHR configured for OTA and the HDHR signal strength indicator was 100%. When the recording completed I went back to view it again. About the time (1hr 52min) where I started watching the game live, the recording was not having issues anymore.

There was a previous recording that finished the same time the game started on a different channel and it played fine.j

The logs are attached and a link to a video made with cut chunk.

Link to video
no longer available

Thanks
