  MCE remote on Win2k?
Posted by: BReal - 2005-08-11, 01:14 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

Has anyone been able to get the MCE remote to work on Windows 2000 or Server 2000? I have one from when I was playing with MCE, and wanted to see if I could use it before I go out and buy a different one. If I have to purchase a new remote, what would you say is the best remote for GBPVR? I'd rather have an IR remote, but I could do RF if necessary. Thanks.

No video, but audio, when viewing on external monitor
Posted by: cannon_fodder - 2005-08-11, 01:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I have just downloaded and installed gbpvr on my laptop. My laptop display is set for 1024x768 while my external monitor (through VGA) is 1600 x 1200. I am using the WinTV PVR USB2.0.

When I run gbpvr on my laptop display, I get live preview working in both the video and audio aspect. However, when I try to get it running on my external monitor (which is really where I want it) I can still hear the audio, but the screen is black.

My WinTV works without issue on either display.

MVP on clearance at Circuit City

I don't know if it's a local store only deal, but the local Circuit City has the MVP on clearance for $53. YMMV.

  Set Priority of GBPVRRecordingService.exe
Posted by: Zod - 2005-08-10, 11:31 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

Would it be possible to have a command-line switch for GBPVRRecordingService.exe, to allow us to set the process priority via the service's "parameters" interface?

I'd like to set the recording service to high priority, since it seems MAME grabs all available CPU resources even if it doesn't need them, causing CPU assignment delays to the recording service that render the recorded videos so blocky and jumpy that they are unwatchable, even though recording only requires 5% of the CPU on my system. I think that setting it to high priority would prevent this.

Edit: and before anyone says it, yeah, I know I could run MAME in low priority! I've tried it, it works fine, and the recording is no longer blocky or jumpy. I guess this is just a wishlist request, so that I could have the GBPVR recording service get prioritized over all other applications running.

  Shows cut out before end
Posted by: td911 - 2005-08-10, 11:23 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Just started having this problem.

My .MPGs stop playing a few seconds from the end on my MVP.

Running 92.11 with the latest plug-ins for XRECORD, MY VIDEOS, WEATHER, etc.

They play fine on my PC in my media players and GB-PVR.

This is really annoying trying to watch "24"

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did some more testing and it does not do this when running the Hauppauge MVP Server.

  GBPVR doesn't remember recordings
Posted by: psykoalby - 2005-08-10, 07:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

This problem has been bugging me since I started using GBPVR. I store my recordings on my external drive since I'm running on a laptop (with Hauppauge WinTV USB PVR2 941). Here's the problem:
I record my programs for the day. They show up of course in the Recordings section with all the nice program info that goes along with it. I don't like leaving my laptop on when I sleep so I turn it off and turn it back on during the morning. At the same time I also turn on my external hard drive. I go to the Recordings section in GBPVR and there are no recordings whatsoever. I know they're still physically there on my hard drive. So now my only option is to add my recordings directory to GBPVR's Video Library. This is pissing me off.

Anybody know what to do? Is the new release going to fix this problem in any way? I tried using Xrecord or whatever it's called but I don't really like it.

  .mpg to dvd
Posted by: Boanerge - 2005-08-10, 07:16 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

I've spent the past week investigating why I can't get dvdAuthor to burn a .mpg file captured using WinTVCap under the DVD quality setting. I noticed that sub originally was using WinTVCap to capture at one point (I believe he has written a custom capture utility now), so I thought someone in this forum might be able to help me.

Everytime I try to author a dvd directly from the .mpg captured by WinTVCap I get a Warn from dvdAuthor a few thousand times about it skipping the file and looking for the first VOBU before it just errors out. I understand that dvdAuthor is sensitive so I messed around with the capture setting on WinTVCap. Still didn't work. I guess I thought WinTVCap was recording to mpeg2 format and could be written directly as a dvd file. Is this true or do I have to remux the .mpg file to an mpeg2 file before I can author the DVD? Any other suggestions that experience might have shown you?

I appreciate any help you could give.

  Help request: Hauppauge 500mce configuration
Posted by: Cedar - 2005-08-10, 04:32 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (21)

Hi all,

I have been unable to capture two shows simultaneously with my Hauppauge 500mce (WinXP SP1, GBPVR 0.91.12) and am hoping someone can help me out.

Can someone clue me in as to what the correct configuration should be for a 500mce?

I have tried setting up "both" tuners in config > capture_sources as:
1) Both boards as "PVR500" (no mce option) and being capture devices 1 & 2
2) Both boards as "PVR500" and both boards being capture device 1
3) Both boards as "PVR150mce" and being devices 1 & 2

And I'm at a loss, because in *each* and *every* scenario above I get one mpeg that's fine (from capture source #2), and one that's zero bytes (source #1).

Is there a way in "Live TV" to "switch" to a specific capture device?

Thanks for any and all help!

Sincerely - Cedar

MusicAlbums - Enlarging Album Info Area
Posted by: tidewater - 2005-08-10, 04:26 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

My music library is exclusively classical, with lengthy titles and artist info. As a result, the album info area in MusicAlbums requires draconian abbreviation, to the point of incomprehension. Is it possible to eliminate the Album Image.jpg and reserve the entire upper right panel area for album information? If so, how can this be done? Thanks.
