  device
Posted by: mromica - 2005-08-09, 05:58 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi Guys,

I purchased a "USB 2800" (http://www.digitus.com) videograbber and would like to use it with this nice application. The device is connected to a digital satellite receiver.

Unfortunatelly I couldn't find any capture source that matches my device.

The gadget is allready working with "Ulead VideoStudio 9" (Windows XP, SP2, P4 2.8) and so I am really hoping to get it working with gbpvr.

Any sugestions or maybe other applications I could use are highly welcome.

Thanks in advance, Romica.

Weird video problems.. recording too fast?!
Posted by: miochza - 2005-08-09, 05:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Okay, I just recorded an hour program that recorded in 2x for some reason, because it was an hour program, but when I view the program it is only 25 minutes. It's not cut off, it is literally sped up to 2x (what I'm approximating). Not all recordings do this, probably 1/7 or so, but it has happened before. The filesize is 700 MB, about half of what an hour program is. So the error occurs in the recording process, it is very weird though. Anyone have any ideas as to what's causing it? Sub?

BTW: P4 3.0 gHz HT, 256MB ATi Radeon 9800XT, 1 GB RAM, TEAC DVD+RW (DV-W58E), Hauppage PVR 150MCE, Latest GB-PVR, 80 GB Main HD, 120 GB Video HD (where recording is made)

Very odd behavior on launch caused DB loss
Posted by: hdskifreak - 2005-08-09, 05:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi Everyone,

Recently, I upgraded the GBPVR to that latest version (as of two weeks ago) and the upgrade went well. Yesterday evening, however, I shut down the front-end, went to the config, then restarted the front-end. Upon launching the front-end, I saw an MSI installer message that read somthing on the lines of:

"Please wait while we configure the application" - It it the customary MSI/Setup startup message.

Once the application started, I had no guide, no capture sources, and not recorded programs. I shut down the front-end app again, and noticed that my 200-something MB DB was replaced by the usual (empty) 400k DB. Naturally, I was furious! I had a snapshot of the DB I had right before the upgrade, and used that to reconfigure the app. Naturally, I lost track of any recordings I had from that point forward.

I have updated the PVR app a few times, and I had never run into that problem before.

This problem is a little dinconcerting, for the obvious reason. I know that my DB is gone Sad, but I would like to know the cause of the problem, so that I can protect myself as much as possible.

Thanks in advance, and thanks for a great app!

  NTL Cable
Posted by: Cappie - 2005-08-09, 05:10 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

Hi Chaps.
I've been wanting to build my own pvr since I saw this cool software. We've recently moved house and I made myself a budget for it. Unfortunately it turns out the tv reception around here is naff. Most of the houses in the street have 20 foot poles with jodrell bank nailed to the end of them and they still cant get channel 5. Ho hum.
So I wondered about cable ?
I've been playing with the hauppage software and I can see that you can select cable or antenna. So I presume the guys from ntl turn up, drill holes in your house and drink all your coffee and leave a bit of cable sticking out the wall.
Does this cable just plug into my pvr250 somehow ? I thought they went all digital now and threw those old analog set top breeze blocks away? Or do I need some digital version of my pvr 250 ? How does it work ?

Thanks.

  how to get gbpvr working
Posted by: johnthackeray - 2005-08-09, 03:21 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (12)

Hello I am new to this, so please go easy on me, I got my media mvp today, and hate the software it comes with, so after looking at sites that do other software for it, I decided to use this one, the only prob is how do I get it to work? I have downloaded it, and installed it but nothing worked, (I did take of the old software before installing) I don't know how to get it to work, and now until I know what to do I have gone back to the old software, until I know what to do. Can anyone help me?

Thank you

John Thackeray

  guidance for a newbie
Posted by: winkiwin - 2005-08-09, 01:53 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

am in the process of starting my PVR project

have decent spec Pc - so covered on that end but am totally out of depth on Tv card front

main criteria is that it has to be freeview.
main use is to record to disc then distribute via a network via MVP / laptop

options would appear to be limited but there appear to be brands on the market which i see are compatible but i've never heard of them ...

so - is something like the Hauppauge wintv - nova pci/usb the best option for novice or ?????.

the more info you can throw at me ( ease of use/ reliability/ reading material etc.) would be appreciated as i dont want to make a duff choice from the offset

thanks in anticipation

MVP Screen position doesn't adjust anything
Posted by: txinga - 2005-08-09, 12:02 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi,
Great product! I'm stuck on one thing though. The screen position is skewed to the right and a little too tall. I have downloaded and configured the MVP screen position plugin, removed the original listing in the config.xml file that was pointing to a MAC address I do not have. Verified that the MAC address is the one for my MVP and set the global settings to what would fit on my tv. There isn't any change to the display. I have zeroed out the offsets. I have also tried cycling the power on the MVP. Nothing, no change. Any ideas?
Thanks,
txinga

  Medion PCMCIA DVB-T supported?
Posted by: Ocular - 2005-08-09, 11:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Is the PCMCIA DVB-T that comes with some of the Medion notebooks supported by gbpvr? It is based on the Philips SAA7134 chipset.
