Unable to install v5
Posted by: johnzered - 2019-09-25, 05:29 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (18)

Hi,

First time user of NextPVR and I thought i go straight ahead and start with v5!
But unfortunately I'm unable to install it on my TV-server running Windows 7 32-bit. I successfully installed it on my main PC running Windows 10 64-bit but then again I do not have any TV-cards installed on that machine. My question is, is Win7 and/or 32-bit Windows not supported or am missing something else?

This is the message I get when executing NextPVRServer.exe:

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

  Colossus Audio Track Problems
Posted by: SilverTiger - 2019-09-25, 04:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

OK, this is not really a NPVR problem, but a Colossus issue. I have noticed that many (most) of my recordings have audio issues with AC3. Now, just playing the TS file is not usually an issue. However, what I normally do with things I want to keep for a while is convert them to MP4 to make them smaller and to be consistent. This is where the problems start. Using DVDFab or Movavi Video Converter, I usually get an MP4 that is not playable. If I make a recording and then run it through TSMUXER, it generally complains about a "bad audio block" or something like that, and fixes it (deletes?). After that, Movavi usually works. DVDFab might or might not work. Interestingly, Handbrake seems more forgiving and usually works WITHOUT having to run the file through TSMUXER, but it is much slower. I guess what I'm wondering is whether my Colossus 2 might have issues with audio, or is this something that is common with Colossus. I've tried the usual "shutdown and wait" fix that didn't do anything. I'm using HDMI video and SPDIF audio into NPVR.

Wondering if anyone else has seen such behavior.

IPTV woes: no failover when stream unavailable
Posted by: jpbelanger79 - 2019-09-25, 04:46 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

It may be something I don't know about, so I'm asking: when I try to tune an IPTV channel and it fails (or is temporarily unavailable), I have to restart the server to be able to watch any stream again, be it from my tuners or other IPTV links. Is it normal?

  Framework Error
Posted by: Mroctober - 2019-09-25, 03:04 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I have a 2nd Hauppauge card that I have been using without trouble with NPVR for awhile, but this morning I rebooted my PC and before the NPVR service started there was a framework error. I hit continue but the NPVR didn't start, the status message was empty. i stopped and restated but it didn't start.

No new logs were created with NPVR, but here is the framework error message.

[UK] EPG listings not showing up
Posted by: davey - 2019-09-25, 01:53 PM - Forum: Docker amd64 - Replies (4)

Hi,

I've installed nextpvr/nextpvr_amd64:latest via a docker compose yml file

It seems to be running, it sees my HDHomeRun Quadro

I have/can
- scanned for my 4 tuners
- got the channel listings OK
- watch a channel via channel->selecting channel to watch

What I can't do is update the EPG, I'm trying to use the OTA Freeview listings. What I am getting is "No listing" in the Guide for each channel

Please find a log of me logging in and doing a EPG update

Any help would be great! Thanks David

Mapping channels from two different physical locations with same number
Posted by: buckeyestargazer - 2019-09-25, 01:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I'm not exactly sure where or even how to ask this...
I use NPVR, XMLTV and MC2XML with a HDHomerun device. I live between Chicago, IL and South Bend, IN. I can receive OTA TV broadcasts from both. Most of the channels I use are Chicago stations, but there is one channel I want to use out of South Bend. The problem is that both Chicago and South Bend stations use channel 22.1 and the XMLTV EPG data reverts to the Chicago station, which is actually a low power local station that I can't receive. I am receiving the South Bend 22.1 channel but the EPG gives listings for the local Chicago station instead of the South Bend station.

All I need to do is have the EPG grab the TV listings for the South Bend station, but I have no idea how to do that. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  So far so good
Posted by: Ranbato - 2019-09-25, 12:46 AM - Forum: Docker amd64 - Replies (4)

Just wanted to post that I decided to try this on my Synology NAS as I slowly try to deprecate the dedicated desktop I have been using for the last 5 years or so.

Using the install instructions it was trivial to get the image up and running, my only difficulties so far have been having to use http://<my server>/index.html and looking up the default username and password.

It automatically picked up my HDHomerun devices despite their age (I used the extra parameters for the container and my home network is 192.168.1.x) and it took all of 5 minutes to import SchedulesDirect and begin watching an episode of Babylon 5!

I am a little concerned to see if the CPU will keep up with multiple streams as it is hovering between 60% and 70% CPU watching a single stream so I'll have to play with it and see how it does.

Just wanted to provide a few Kudos for the work so far.

  Scan channel info
Posted by: VCR58 - 2019-09-25, 12:39 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (7)

When I perform a channel scan on a HDHR QAM tuner I see this which is correct but is not enough for me to to identify the station and edit the channel for the guide. What is missing is the tune frequency which is present in the HDHR setup gui. V4 includes tune freq info when I do a channel scan. ATSC tuner scans are not a problem since it always identifies the channel.

So, would it be possible to include the tune frequency somehow when a channel scan is done in v5?

Windows based client as front-end to Linux Server
Posted by: vintdiesel - 2019-09-25, 12:16 AM - Forum: Other Clients - Replies (6)

Hi Sub,

Quote:Clients for use with NextPVR v5

nextpvr.exe
For Windows users, the familiar nextpvr.exe user interface is available. At this stage it can only be installed on Windows, and will only connect to a NextPVR server running on the same machine.

Are there plans for the Windows based NextPVR client to be able to connect to a server on another machine like the one based on my NAS?
