Im quite new to this hardware. I am think of buying Hauppauge colossus 2 . I would like to install the hardware in my host PC along with the ir blaster and a set top box. Can I control the channel selection from client PCs in different rooms from the host PC and colossus 2 setup. I'm have difficulty understanding how the ir blaster works with npvr and device being a newbie !
TV shows record fine if Iâm active on the computer.
At the end of the day, I lock (Windows + L) the computer and close the lid. Iâve changed the power settings so the lid close action does not cause the computer to sleep.
I assume the computer goes to sleep after 15 minutes per the power settings.
Several shows are scheduled to record later that evening and through the early morning hours.
The next day I open the computer and itâs frozen. The only way to recover is to hold the power button until the computer turns off.
All of the shows scheduled to record after I locked and closed the lid have failed to record.
Each recording has the following error message â Recording service not running at recording time
I've confirmed that Windows 10 does not freeze if NextPVR is not installed. It also doesn't freeze if sleeping during the time that a show is not scheduled to be recorded.
Attached are the logs.
My old colossus died, so I bought a new colossus 2. After getting it installed, I now have "no show details" all over my EPG. Not every channel, but many.
Here is what I did:
1. Old colossus had already been removed from my computer.
2. Installed the Colossus 2 and all the Hauppauge software and got it working (WinTV 8.5, Hauppauge Capture and IR blaster).
3. Opened NPVR and went to SETTINGS>DEVICES
4. It showed both the old colossus and the new colossus 2 even though the old one was gone along with its driver.
5. Right clicked the old colossus and "Delete Device".
6. Selected colossus 2 and "Device Setup"
7. At top, INPUT SOURCE TO "HDMI", CHANGER to "Executable", EXECUTABLE to "Haupblast.exe"
8. Clicked "IMPORT" button.
9. Changed Source to "Schedules Direct". It shows the correct "Verizon FIOS Philadelphia" in the lineup box.
10 Right clicked on channels and selected "disable all". Now, select the channels I want and click OK.
11 Did Update EPG when it asked.
12 Channel list in HDPVR Settings box looks good. Clicked OK in this box.
13 EPG shows ALL the channels from schedules direct, not just the ones I checked. This was a surprise.
14 Settings>Channels and remove the ones I don't want, Update EPG.
15 EPG now shows the correct channels, but many have "no show details".
16 No matter how many times I run "Update EPG", doesn't help. Still "no show details".
I figure I did something wrong here, but not sure what or how to fix.
When pressing the green/MCE button on an MCE remote (e.g. Hauppauge, Pinnacle etc.) NextPVR starts correctly, but often does not have focus. I have to press the 'back' button to gain focus.
Window focus usually remains on the desktop icons. Is there a way to ensure NextPVR always takes focus?
I've been using NextPVR for a few months on several different systems. Most use a Hauppauge Quad Tuner, and one uses a Compro tuner.
Using NextPVR, I can successfully pick up all channels during setup. Unfortunately, all channels, except for those broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) have names.
While I can easily add the channel names, this is a minor nuisance. This problem happens on all systems using NextPVR. When using Hauppage WinTV or WMC, the names are detected correctly.
Unable to connect to server, either remote or local. Both remote and local work fine with Kodi, from same Android device. Already tried rebooting both devices. NextPVR version 4.2.4.
I am running Kodi 18.2 and Nextpvr 4.2.4 on a single Windows 10 PC with a DVB-T tuner and a French TNT TV cable feed. This PC gets started and stopped several times a day but it doesn't run 24 hours a day.
Everything is working fine but currently the EPG information is almost never populated when I run Kodi (or the Nextpvr Windows client) because there only seems to be an option for programming it to update once a day at a given hour and if the PC isn't running at that hour, or it's not yet that time of day, then you're out of luck. If I run the Nextpvr Windows client, click on "update epg" in the Channels menu (which takes about 15 seconds to complete), then look at EPG from the Nextpvr client or Kodi, the EPG info is populated ok.
Is there a way to trigger an EPG update at Kodi startup? Ideally this update would start in the background, without blocking Kodi, and display a pop up message when it's complete and allow the EPG results to be visible when you go into the TV section after that (although I'm not sure the Kodi Nextpvr addon would be capable of seeing those changes unless you restart Kodi?).
If the above is not possible I guess the next best thing would be to find a way to trigger an EPG update via the Nextpvr service at Windows startup (and also with a single click at any time later on, or maybe every hour)...would that be possible?
At our new house we get lousy DVB-T terrestrial reception with some multiplexes missing, so I've got a PCTV 461 DVB-S adaptor and I've done a scan on the 28.2 Sky/Freesat satellite for all channels. Most channels are detected, but some are missing: in particular TalkingPictures TV (Freesat 306). I can see the scanner trying 11538 MHz (the frequency for the multiplex that contains that channel) but no channels seem to be added for it.
Is it an outdated entry in \users\public\NPVR\Tuning\DVB-S\0282.ini? Are those ini files kept up-to-date to reflect any changes by Freesat?
How do I add a channel manually, and what parameters do I need to specify? I tried modifying an exisiting channel entry with frequency and H/V polarisation, but nothing plays on Live TV so I'm evidently missing something.
I've established that another package (the one that was supplied with DVB-S adaptor) can see that channel, so it's not a reception issue. Sadly that package doesn't find any EPG for any channel so I have to add channel-and-times entries manually.
I have NextPVR working with an HDHomeRun HDHR4-2US tuner. Works great. When I play the recorded .ts files within NextPVR or using the VLC media player, subtitles work fine. When I steam the TV recordings on the NextPVR build-in web server everything work great (guide, streaming, etc.), except that there are no subtitles on the streamed video. Clicking on the settings wheel does bring up a dialog box to choose sub-titles, but none are available to select.
What do I need to do to make sub-titles work on the streamed vide within the NextPVR web server?
I am haveing problems with npvr as a client on a separate machine from host on LAN. It only seems to be only on free sat channels. Client is getting an error saying no hardware detected . I am . Running npvr on the host machine on useing sat IP supplied from dvb viewer. It is all working on the dvbviewer side. I have even changed the streams from TCP to udp on dvb viewer side still no luck.
I actually had it working when I first set it up, then it stop working randomly! Free view channels are still working and there supplied in the same way.
