I like that the last couple of installs automatically through up the config app. Can the remote control be restarted from the command line? Would be nice if this could be done by the config app but no biggy to do this ourselves.
Set up the tv guide app launcher for the tv plugin. WinTV does just not play nicely. So when in GB-PVR, I press the red button and this starts up WinTV but Ctrl-R starts up my specified app.
During video playback my remote does not work anymore.
actually I realise now the issues with the remote where because i reinstalled the remote software. Is it possible from the config app to be able to set up the remote again for situations like this?
So in the config, i add in my xmltv listings. Click ok, end the config session. I start up again, disable channels i do not want, update the source settings and ok this. I have to restart the config app again to be able to update the channels in the misc section. Does anyone else have to do this?
These are just nit picky things
I tired VMR9 and Overlay Manager and both work nicely. VMR9 is nice with the overlayed options.
I scheduled a recording, taped some it of and then cancelled it. This was played back in the Record section. I think previously the mpg recording that took place was corrupted.
In the TV Guide listings, I get an extra line which is empty except that the icon is the same as the first line. Ie. i have a listing of about 30 channels, i have 8 enabled but i get 9 lines in the tv guide.
I go back to the config app, disable another channel. Go back to GB-PVR and there are icons for all tv channels in the xmltv file, but only listings for those channels I have enabled.
Think there is a problem in the editing of channel listings.
I've upload the v0.0.4 beta to the web site. It contains quite a few PVR350 related changes, as well as changes in other areas. It can be downloaded from http://www.gbpvr.com/Setup004.exe
2003-11-25 v0.0.4
- Added ability to launch external program from TV Guide. Can also pass channel number as argument.
- Hide mouse when playing movie
- Fixed problem with PVR350 TV out playback. Replaced dependence on pvr350.grf with a manually constructed graph
- Better (but unfortunately slightly slower) quantitization of colors in PVR350 fast mode
- Added manual recordings. Allows you specify chanel and start/end time aswell as a recurrence pattern. This is not functional yet. (needed early release to correct a PVR350 problem)
- Some stability fixes for the recording service
- Attempted to handle TV overscan on PVR350 OSD. Dont know if it was successful yet - looks alright on my tv. I may need more work in this area.
Currently I only provide an option to 'Record' and dont really give you any control over the quality.
I'm thinking about allowing you to setup a couple of user defined quality levels. For example, pressing enter on a programme in the TV Guide would replace the 'Record' button with 'Record HQ' and 'Record SQ' (standard and high quality). You could then use the WinTVCap config screen to define what bitrate/resolution etc these relate to. Would this provide enought flexibility, or would you need access to all available quality levels when initiating a recording?
I'm trying to run the fine line between an easy to use simple UI, whilst providing enough features that peoplw will want to use it.
I installed myHTPC on my machine yesterday and setup the live tv plugin as the hauppauge is rubbish. The TV plugin worked very well and did timshifting extremely well.
Sub this maybe worth checking out for ideas for your live TV module.
I separated these out into another post because they are repeats of the ones sent by direct email.
1) While an MP3 is playing, I can't stop it! Buttons do not seem to respond. If I choose a second track, it plays 'over the top' of the first one.
2) If I run the app from a drive other than the C: it ignores all the settings.
3) TV guide causes whole app to popup repreating error on any futher key press. (I tried the skin.XML) edit. Will post an XMLTV extract to you right now.
Thanks very much for the app.
I think that it is fairy incredible for 5 weeks work.
I have another small? bug for you:
Windows XP, PVR 350, TV out
I chose an MPG to play and then stopped it before the end and chose another one.
A few seconds of the first mpg played before the second one started and then 10 seconds or so into playback the screen froze. Main app thread contiued no problem.
I know we have briefly discussed some changes you are going to make later on as far as skinning is concerned. Â I have a couple more suggestions. Â You probably have many of these planned already
1. Â More options for the sub menus. Â Like when you click on a recording, or TV program from the EPG. Â To be able to set background images, or even the color would be nice. Â I think I noticed that button spacing for the recordings skin is not available, or if it is its not in the xml file.
2. Â Font, width and hieght settings on the channel grid. Â Also an option not to use the channel icons. Â Option to change the 'selected channel' color and the 'channel scheduled for recording' color.
I don't think the description font setings on the main menu skin work correctly. Â I've tried changing the font size and type in the xml file and it made no changes to the display.
Is the program's ratting and gerne included in XMLTV? Those would look great on the EPG.
Great job so far sub, I'm just about finished with another skin.
Looks great so far... I am currently using on my PC monitor, but would like to get to use on a TV once I can find cables long enough!
Things I would like to see:
automatic updating of epg - e.g. ananonva does an xml file that is updated daily for UK tv - perhaps a service that picks up the updates and incorporates into the EPG.
ability to use PDC/VPS for start and stop times (ok I'm really hoping here) - in the UK tv shows don't start at the time specified in the EPG - they may start several minutes earlier or later, so you can lose the start or end of the prog. The way video recorders get round this is to pick up a signal from the broadcaster (PDC - programme delivery control in the UK, VPS - video programming system other places in Europe) - which is sent in the VBI as a teletext magazine, which starts when the programme starts and stops when it stops. If teletext is possible from the tuner (as is the case for Hauppauge PVR-250/350's) this should be feasible with enough knowledge of how the card works (I think).
OSD on the TV out for the PVR-350... in fact, the whole GUI out to the TV out :-)
Album/Movie artwork for the music/video section (or perhaps a frame from the video if not)
A "play TV" option - if this is to be used as the primary interface to the PC from a TV, being able to go to live TV, perhaps even from the EPG would be useful.
Now that the recording is working Thanks Sub! I go into the Recordings, select the program i just recorded. this brings up the menu with Play, Delete, Exit.
