  XMLTV adn Scheduler
Posted by: colin - 2003-11-17, 12:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Unfortuately I am at work and cannot mess with GB-PVR at the minute. Is it possible from the app to update the XMLTV tv listings?

If not I'm guessing this could be acheived by adding a custom button and just execute the xmltv.exe with the appropriate script and arguments.

Looking forward to the development of the scheduler plugin. My machine does a lot of daily recordings so it wakes up, records, goes back to sleep.

Keep up the good work, this app is really taking good shape.

Cheers,

Again, install goes nicely. Might be worth offering the option to start the configuration section or even automatically start the config application.

Currently when I go into the Video area, select the directory i want, choose the mpg file, i get an error saying class not registered. The debug box coming up says something about not finding an object instance: DirectShowHelper.playfile(). This is the abbreviated version. I'm guessing I am missing something i should have installed?

The TV guide is sweet now that i have fixed up xmltv output. What would be nice is buttons like titantv to jump forward/backwards n hours; to go to the next day, etc.

Will try the scheduling programs section tomorrow.

Sub,

Great job on the quick release!

Before I start my quick report, please understand that I worked 3rd shift last night and am half asleep right now.  I apologize in advance if none of this makes any sense [Image: smile.gif]

One new problem (I think its new):

The problem is when setting the record directory.  I think we need to add a trailing slash.  For example...

If my recording directory is F:\video and I am recording Sportscenter I can watch the recording start as F:\videoSportscenter_1234.mpg (Notice the missing slash... should be F:\video\Sportscenter_1234.mpg)

Once I cancel the recording it also seems to delete itself (I am sure it is related to the directory issue)

If I set my recording directory to F:\ it records fine and does not delete itself.  Thats why I think the self-deleting issue is related with the directory issue.

Other than that I'd say that your EPG/Scheduler is PERFECT.  I noticed that you fixed the issues with the special characters in the title, awesome.

Mame plugin works flawless.

Music Library is flawless.

Because of my limited video card I am unable to test your video library (sorry).

I have not tested the remote control features yet, but I have worked with other programs with the remote before.  I'll play around with this later today and will help anybody that needs help setting thier remotes up.

I have a couple more suggestions, I'll post those in the Wishlist forum.

If you can think of any specific testing you need me to do, let me know.

Great job!

Corey

  My first impression
Posted by: colin - 2003-11-14, 01:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hey Sub,

well first impressions, smooth install.

Configuration section is well laid out and was able to get all the options filled in.

Actually program, well I discovered that my xmltv file was knackered so I could not test this feature. Will sort this out over the weekend.

Navigation of menus was good, though it sometimes got confused with mouse clicks and keyboard navigation.

Anyway I did not get to play with this too much last night, but will give it an overhaul over the weekend.

What would be useful is a Changelog and a TODO list with each release. It would be good to know what is implemented so that we don't report problems with things that are coming in later releases.

Cheers,

EPG date, Volume control for the media libraries.

Great job on the first beta sub.

I'm going to try to limit my wish list to things that I think can improve what you have already included in beta001 instead of wishing up new features.

1. It's cool that I can scroll backwards in time while using the EPG and see what was on an hour ago, but it may be easier to use if the I could only scroll back to the current time, or current hour. This is the only EPG that I have used that allows you to scroll backwards, it may just seem ackward. Maybe its something that I just need to get used to.

2. Date on the EPG. We curretnly have the time, but if I am looking to schedule a recording for tomorrow or even 3 days from now, having the date of the show somewhere on the EPG (maybe the top right corner? There seems to be some space there) would make things easier to navigate.

3. Volume control in the music library. I'm getting errors using the Video library (see my report) so I am not sure if it includes any volume control or not.

  My first report.

First I want to say WOW.  I am very impressed with what 1 man has been able to do in 6 weeks.

Here are my bug reports for today [Image: smile.gif]

Installation:  This went very smoothly.  No problems installing at all.

Configuring:

1. Once I add a capture source, I can not delete it.  If I remove it, it appears to be gone, but when I click OK to close/save the configure utility and then restart the configure program my source that I deleted is there again.

GB-PVR:

1. The PVR can not schedule or record shows that have some special characters.  I went to record "That '70s show" and it refused.  I'm guessing it is because to the ' character in the title.

2.  When going to the video part of GV-PVR and trying to play a video I get some errors.  First a box pops up that says "Class not registered" then I get a big error:

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]
Error: msg=0x202 (WM_LBUTTONUP) hwmd=0x24020a wparam=0x0 lparam=0x68006e result=0x0 : Object reference no set to an instance of an object.  :  at DirectShowHelper.playfile(DirectShowHelper* , Uint16* filename, HWND__* ownerHwnd)

at System.Windows.Forms.ContainerControl.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.WndProc(Message& m)
at b.a(Message& A_0)

Probably a few typos in there... I can email you a screenshot of the error if you need it.  I do have DirectX9, though my video card does not support VMR.  I get the feeling that that may be the problem here?

I have not had time to test out the mame plugin.  I do not have mame installed, but plan on installing it sometime this weekend to test with GB-PVR.

I also have not tried to add an programs for GB-PVR to launch.  I'll play with that a little tomorrow.

Suggestions:

1. Please allow us to attach screen shots of long error messages to our posts [Image: smile.gif]

2. Maybe a main menu or back button on the EPG?  I know the esc button returns you back to the main menu but I am ignorant enough that I did not realize that until I closed/restarted the program 3-4 times to get out of the EPG.

3. If I cancel a recording that is in progress, it would be great if GB-PVR stopped WinTVCap for me.  Currently, if I cancel the recording I still have to manually exit WinTVcap.  I'm not sure if it is possible or not.

Overall, this is really nice beta release.  Great job!

  First report!

Hi sub!

This is my first report of your beta:

1) When editing my xmltv plugin i get a Found Long Span message a lot. It takes a hundred clicks to update the guide.
2) When deleting unwanted chanels the list jumps to the top but the scroll bar remains.
3) Deleted items from the program guide config still appear in the program guide.
4) I've set the channel changer to no changer req'd but it jumps back to the ir200l every time.

Then questions.
Are recordings scheduled somewhere? Does the recording still start even if the GB-PVR does not run?

Good luck!
