It would be great to be able to use the PVR permanently in the background, rather than being a startable program - assuming you are using the TV out feature of the 350.
I would like to be able to leave my PC on (in my study) and use it as a normal PC, while others use the TV out capabilities in the lounge.
Potential issues - would have to run as a service rather than as a user; would need to stop people from shutting the PC down (or at least warn them that someone was watching TV)
On the "low" side of priorities, as you can just minimise the application on the PC, but would be nice.
I'm a couple days late, and I'm sure some of what I say is just a repeat of what somebody else has already reported.
1. Using the overlay manager, I get errors using the music library. If I play a song, then stop it, then try to play another song I'll get errors. This does not happen when selecting VMR9.
2. Using the manual record. I get an error when scrolling through the channels once I get to one that does not include an icon.
I do not think manual record is working for me. The layout is nice, but when I setup my time/channel/ect... and click on the record button it brings me back to the main screen that shows no scheduled recordsings. I have not had much time to read posts to see if I am doing something wrong, so this may not be a bug.
Sorry, thats all I have right now. This is a busy time of year for me
When you hit the delete button (accidentally instead of play) it would be good to have the option of confirming deletion - perhaps configured on/off in the Config tool for those people who can hit the right button first time(unlike me!
I was watching the Simpsons on my PC monitor (I can't get my wife to agree to have cables trailing through the lounge yet! and the screensaver kicked in - is it possible to set the screensaver not to display while in playback mode? Also, I hit the keyboard within 2 seconds of the screensaver starting, and was returned to a black screen, but the soundtrack still working. I got back to the main screen by pressing home and went back to recordings and hit play for the Simpsons, and got the soundtrack from both, and the pictures from the first time playing.

Hey All,
it would be good if once a program has been scheduled for recording the start time and time could be adjusted. Would also be good if the file name for saving could be set as well. I encode a number of tv shows and I include either the episode title or number in the file name. Its just handy for putting them onto dvd in the correct order,
I would guess this could be possible via the manual record feature?
I like that the last couple of installs automatically through up the config app. Can the remote control be restarted from the command line? Would be nice if this could be done by the config app but no biggy to do this ourselves.
Set up the tv guide app launcher for the tv plugin. WinTV does just not play nicely. So when in GB-PVR, I press the red button and this starts up WinTV but Ctrl-R starts up my specified app.
During video playback my remote does not work anymore.
actually I realise now the issues with the remote where because i reinstalled the remote software. Is it possible from the config app to be able to set up the remote again for situations like this?
So in the config, i add in my xmltv listings. Click ok, end the config session. I start up again, disable channels i do not want, update the source settings and ok this. I have to restart the config app again to be able to update the channels in the misc section. Does anyone else have to do this?
These are just nit picky things
I tired VMR9 and Overlay Manager and both work nicely. VMR9 is nice with the overlayed options.
I scheduled a recording, taped some it of and then cancelled it. This was played back in the Record section. I think previously the mpg recording that took place was corrupted.
In the TV Guide listings, I get an extra line which is empty except that the icon is the same as the first line. Ie. i have a listing of about 30 channels, i have 8 enabled but i get 9 lines in the tv guide.
I go back to the config app, disable another channel. Go back to GB-PVR and there are icons for all tv channels in the xmltv file, but only listings for those channels I have enabled.
Think there is a problem in the editing of channel listings.
I've upload the v0.0.4 beta to the web site. It contains quite a few PVR350 related changes, as well as changes in other areas. It can be downloaded from http://www.gbpvr.com/Setup004.exe
2003-11-25 v0.0.4
- Added ability to launch external program from TV Guide. Can also pass channel number as argument.
- Hide mouse when playing movie
- Fixed problem with PVR350 TV out playback. Replaced dependence on pvr350.grf with a manually constructed graph
- Better (but unfortunately slightly slower) quantitization of colors in PVR350 fast mode
- Added manual recordings. Allows you specify chanel and start/end time aswell as a recurrence pattern. This is not functional yet. (needed early release to correct a PVR350 problem)
- Some stability fixes for the recording service
- Attempted to handle TV overscan on PVR350 OSD. Dont know if it was successful yet - looks alright on my tv. I may need more work in this area.
Currently I only provide an option to 'Record' and dont really give you any control over the quality.
I'm thinking about allowing you to setup a couple of user defined quality levels. For example, pressing enter on a programme in the TV Guide would replace the 'Record' button with 'Record HQ' and 'Record SQ' (standard and high quality). You could then use the WinTVCap config screen to define what bitrate/resolution etc these relate to. Would this provide enought flexibility, or would you need access to all available quality levels when initiating a recording?
I'm trying to run the fine line between an easy to use simple UI, whilst providing enough features that peoplw will want to use it.
I installed myHTPC on my machine yesterday and setup the live tv plugin as the hauppauge is rubbish. The TV plugin worked very well and did timshifting extremely well.
Sub this maybe worth checking out for ideas for your live TV module.
