If I do a recurring series, all episodes, will NPVR look in its series folder to see if the episode is already there even if it is not in the database.
For example, (totally made up series name) If I want to record series "NPVR This Week" and I already have "NPVR This Week.S02E20.Importance of uploading your logs files when asking for support.ts" but it is in the EPG guide and not in the database, will NPVR schedule that episode or see it in the folder and not schedule it?
Second question, what happens if NPVR names things "NPVR This Week" (all caps) and I have something named "NPVR this week"? (Not all caps) Will it recognize it is the same even though the words aren't capitalized?
*Don't miss the irony of the fake episode name, no logs needed for this question.
I've looked around the forum for an answer. I have either missed it or there is no questions asking this. I probably didn't dig deep enough.
Have just got NPVR up and running for the first time and it is working fantastically.
I have set up a SD account and importing EPG is perfect.
Only one thing is really confusing me though - what is Schedules Direct and where does it get its information from?
The reason I ask is that I have a Freesat (DVB-S2) and Freeview (DVB-T) tuner.
I get loads of channels which exist on both, which I have combined.
I also have channels that exist only on Freeview (e.g. Dave) or Freesat (e.g. Challenge +1).
I assumed that I would simply download the EPG for, say, ITV 1 London and it would just provide the information but I have the option to have ITV from either Virgin, Freesat, Freeview or Sky.
I have just tested and the Freeview version is much better than the Sky one - it provides details of the Season and Episode.
I though Schedules Direct was a standardised set of information for all channels, but this must be wrong. Where does the information come from?
I set NPVR to record (I thought) the main daily news show at 20.00hrs every day. My thought was that if I missed it live I could always look at it from my own machine. That actually works, but...
...It appears that NPVR looks at the name of the show (NOS Journaal) in the EPG and does not honor the time originally set. As there are multiple shows (that are constantly replayed throughout the day) with the the exact same name NPVR entered into a recording frenzy that fills my HD and keeps my computer awake throughout the day and night. It will never enter sleep mode any more. See attached jpeg.
I cannot find any way to disable this recording schedule, despite have searched for it in the Wiki and forums. I also cannot find a file on my computer that looks as if it holds the schedule. The only way to stop NPVR recording is to uninstall it. But when I reinstall NPVR starts recording the news shows again as if nothing happened.
Please, how do I stop the program constantly recording the news shows? Thanks.
I am long-time Argus TV user and have been very happy with it.
However, as you may be aware, development on it has pretty much ground to a halt - many of the users are looking for decent alternatives.
I have spent the last few weeks having a look at the Linux alternatives (MythTV and TVHeadend) but soon realised that this was a mistake - (too tricky to set up, massive problems with resume, no support for Stablebit).
Anyway, I have heard NPVR mentioned, numerous times, as the natural successor to Argus and I am dying to try it out.
What is my best option for trying it out on my server? Should I install Windows 10 on a spare hard drive or risk installing it alongside Argus?
I couldn't find anything about this in a quick look through documentation and forum search, so please let me know if there's somewhere to go here for these answers.
Is it possible to edit scheduled recordings by editing a configuration file directly instead of using the GUI which seems to have some limitations? For example, could I edit recurring-backup.xml (or a different file) in Notepad and would NextPVR then apply those changes? If so, can I enter exact start and stop times and change start/stop padding to 0, and can I change the name to something besides Default?
I have some recurring manual recordings scheduled and I would like to create custom artwork that would be displayed in the NPVR program as well as on the web server.
I tried putting a picture named "Fox Sunday _.landscape.jpg" into "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Media\Shows", as well as a file named "Fox Sunday _-catalog.xml" containing the following
Thought I was doing everything according to the wiki directions, but here's the stuff not working with TV Listings:
No long descriptions, star-rating, etc.
Got to "Find More" popup, see the "Ready" and "Pending" episodes, but can't find "Create Link" to select
Selected genres, but there is no colorization in listings even though I changed TV Listings.xml setting for "ShowGenreColor" to True
Sort order only works for a few views, not "any view". Would like to sort "What's New" & "Pending" from A-Z
Changed "ListingsMinutes" in TV Listings.xml to 300 but listing still shows default 120 minutes
Used TV Listings (not TV Guide) to schedule a couple of NCAA football game and subsequent programs to see if NextEnd would work for me but nothing was recorded, although this morning they are all listed in the "Pending" view. So, at this point I have no questions or comments about NextEnd or ComSkip.
Any help with what I may be doing wrong with TV Listings?
I've searched this forum for answer to my problem, found none.
I've got a partial EPG update problem. If I manually search for EPG, it will populate completely. But a few days after, EPG will be almost empty. Just 4-5 channels have it. If I do manual scan again, it will be complete again.
Working on windows 10 i am almost getting used to not being able to use the webif.. or use it from Kodi.

so i did and then did get to view the webpage on localhost:8866
Bold as i am i rebooted, and now again, nothing on 8866..
